True 24-track hard disk recorder
The DPS24mkII offers 24 mono tracks, in 24-bit uncompressed format, with 256 virtual tracks per Project. You can record up to 24 tracks simultaneously for live recording or digital transfers. The DPS24mkII features 24 independent Track Select keys, with track punch on the fly. Plus, the DPS24mkII provides up to 24 channels of ADAT digital inputs/outputs, with sample accurate ADAT Sync.

Full-featured onboard editing
The AKAI DPS24mkII features sample-accurate editing, with a sample-accurate scrolling waveform display and tape-like audio scrubbing. You have access to all the non-destructive editing functions you'd expect: Copy, Cut, Erase, Insert, Paste, Repeat, and Move. Off-line DSP features include TimeStretch, PitchShift, BPM Match, Varispeed, Reverse, Normalize, Resample. The DPS24mkII also offers multi-level Undo/Redo.

46-channel digital mixer
The DPS24mkII's digital mixer provides 46 channels, with 12 mono inputs, 1 stereo Aux input, 24 mono track returns, and 4 stereo FX returns. Every mono channel includes digital EQ and dynamics processing (inputs and tracks), with onboard libraries The DPS24mkII is ready for 5.1 surround mixing and features onboard dynamic and snapshot automation. The 13 professional 100mm long-throw, touch-sensitive motorized faders and 18 encoders offer real-time control of parameters. a monitor section with Main/Nearfield outputs, plus stereo studio cue output with built-in talkback microphone, handle your monitoring needs.

Effects processing
The DPS24mkII is loaded with four simultaneous 56-bit stereo effects processors: Reverb, Chorus, Flanger, Delay, Phaser, Wah, Pitch Shift/Correction, and more. A complete FX Library is included, with Snapshot automation. The DPS24mkII's flexible routing allows real-time processing through outboard equipment, including digital plug-in hosts.

Onboard mastering
When it's time to master your project, the DPS24mkII provides 46 channels > 2 to its internal mixdown recorder (46 > 6 in 5.1 surround mode). A multi-band compressor/expander for stereo mastering is built in, as is sample rate conversion and bit depth dithering. The DPS24mkII's CD burner allows Track-at-Once and Disk-at-Once CD recording.

Most open system
AKAI has designed the DPS24mkII with the most open architecture available in its class. It features a standard FAT32 disk format, and produces Broadcast WAV audio files. Extensive multi-track audio Import/Export and data backup functions are available via IDE, SCSI and USB. With ADAT lightpipe I/O, ADAT Sync out, and ADAT LRC remote support, the DPS24mkII is compatible with a vast array of studio gear. Four ADC Ins "bypass" the inputs for use with outboard preamps. Free ak.Sys TrackView software provides SVGA metering and 24-track scrolling waveform display, plus mouse/keyboard based editing.
