Midas DP48 48-channel Personal Mixer Reviews

Dual 48-Channel Digital Personal Mixer with 12 Stereo Groups, Stereo Ambiance Microphone, and SD Recording Capability

Every gigging musician has had this experience: you’re already into your set, but you can barely hear yourself. You try to communicate to the front of house engineer with some sophisticated hand signals, but he’s not picking up what you’re putting down. So, you shout, “Hey, can I get a little more of me in the mix?” At Sweetwater, we know nothing breaks the flow of a performance faster. But now, with the Midas DP48, you’ll never have to go through that again.

Sensible Upgrade

By Jesse T. from MOORE, OK
Music Background: Worship Pastor

My salesman, Colton, recommended these mixers over the Behringers we were going to purchase. These have some great options the Behringers don't including onboard reverb and compression. I was a bit nervous about having two musicians per unit at first, but they have worked well for us. Ultimately, we spent about the same price per musician and have these mixers with more functionality and seemingly more durability.

Complicated for live adjustments

By Sweetwater Customer

Takes more time to access a setting to make adjustments than you have time for during play time. I miss the simple slider adjustments I had on my iPad with our previous system.

Fantastic product!

By Micah M. from Virginia
Music Background: Worship & Media & Tech Director for 10 years

I opted to get the DP48 so our drummers could have more than the 16-channel count the P16 offers. Our drummers like to be able to individually tune the volume and pan of each piece of their kit and the DP48 allowing 48 channels from our WING to be routed to it, helped us achieve that goal. Also, the audio fidelity that the DP48 offers over the AES50 protocol seems to be that much better for some reason. Perhaps it's not a placebo, but I have 3 drummers at my church and they all agreed it was a much better quality. They now express that it's a confidence booster for them to play having a great IEM mix.

Great investment.

By olaoluwa o. from MADISON, AL

Super Dope. Like how you can mix each element with the provided tools, like reverb compression and Eq. You can really get a great in-ear mix going to inspire you performance or ministration during a service.

If you have a M32 you should consider having this for the band.

The best on the market

By Tim C. from Fort Worth

I've used almost every brand of headphone mixer, and this one is the best I have found so far!! You can get super in depth processed mixes for those that are tech savvy, and also program it to make it sound just as good but easy to manage for those that aren't tech inclined. There is also the ability to tap into the 48 channels and throw them into groups and that is just amazing!!

One of my favorite features is the ability to broadcast the patching, names, and edit the groups from the console. You can send that info to all units without having to even have a thumb drive/SD card or anything of that nature. Very similar to the "livemix" brand. This is handy if you are good at mixing things on IEMs and you want all the eqs and compression to be set at a great starting point for the whole band. The processing is group specific.. so each group gets it's own EQ low/high shelving, and a mid scoop or boost! Each group also has the ability to be compressed.

One other feature I love is that you can have a master unit at Front of House that is able to get a great mix (Acting as a monitor engineer in a sense) and then broadcast that mix to someone's mixer on stage instantly without having to even walk up there. Super handy if someone just can't get their mix to sound right etc or if you just want to program all the units instantly at 1 time.

All in all, the functionality of these are INCREDIBLE and the price is unbeatable. I also recommend the hub4 to allow for easy connection to Wireless Units and also have POE to power the units with just a shielded cable!

DP48 Very Nice

By Sweetwater Customer

I have the Behringer P16M personal mixers and was excited to try the Midas DP48. There is a bit of a learning curve when compared to the P16M, but the unit itself is great. Some software updates are needed to get all of the capabilities working right, but I am confident they will get it right.

Pros:
* More headroom on Headphone amp than P16M
* Display that shows meters for each group
* Group Naming
* Ambient mics for capturing the room sound
* Built-in Recorder and Reverb

Cons:
* 12 groups versus 16 on P16M (each group can be more than one channel)
* Power cord too short
* Larger than P16M, but not significantly heavier
* No support for Power over Ethernet (PoE), so you need to use the Power supply
