3-piece Acousticon Tubano Set with Pre-tuned Black Suede Synthetic Drumheads - Black Matte

The Remo Festival Tubano Nested Set spans three distinct drums, each featuring a lightweight Acousticon shell and a replaceable Fliptop pre-tuned synthetic head. Designed to resist weather-related changes and eliminate tuning hassles, these drums are ready to play anytime, anywhere. Like all Remo tubanos, the Festival set is known for its rich resonance, delivering deep bass, sharp slaps, and clear open tones. Versatile and approachable, this set shines in a variety of settings. Educators can use them to teach rhythm and storytelling in the classroom; music therapists can turn to them as a reliable tool for connection and healing. And percussionists — including many here at Sweetwater — love jamming on them across genres, from world music to laying down modern grooves.

King of the Drum Circle

By Travis from Tampa
Music Background: Intermediate

These drums are incredible. People are constantly asking to play them at the various drum circles that I go to on a weekly basis. They project well and have a beautiful sound from the 14 bass drum. I basically set the rhythm with these drums. The price points is crazy low for such a great set of drums.

Tubanos Update

By Mike from Wilmington NC

I originally gave these Tubanos a terrible review about two years ago.....However, they are great at local drum circles and the mid and large drum emit a deep sound when used with mallets. My original review was based on playing the kit using hands in an 11 by 11 foot room.....they did not and do not sound good in that room...the Tubanos need a much larger room (and soft mallets) to meet max potential. Since purchase I have played a number of shows as part of backup percussion group that plays middle eastern and African rhythms to dances as choreographed by two talented dancers (one belly dancer and the other a sword dancer)....the two larger drums are excellent as bass drum substitutes in this situation.

Not Recommended-sound is muddy at best and drums do not project...kind of the worst of all worlds

By Mike from Wilmington NC
Music Background: Drummer (acoustic, Electronic)

Purchased solely for use in drum circles....nesting drums, one trip from car, drums in one hand and throne in the other - great idea. However, the sound from a cheap djembe is much fuller and has greater projection than any or all of these tubanos combined. None of these drums has a distinctive sound. Hand slap - forget it. I am using mallets and the sound is still muddy to put it in its best light. Tried three different types and weight of mallets...none very good. Best mallet was one I made from drumsticks, cymbal felts and electrician's tape. Remo usually makes great products....I use their drum heads at times on acoustic kits....Do yourself a favor...spend a little more and buy tunable tubano or djembe (REMO or other brand) for your drum circle. This product has a muddy/muffled sound at best and something akin to banging on cardboard at worst. I suppose these are best used by non-drummers in an educational environment where sound quality is not so much a concern. I will keep them and use them (with mallets) or loan them to the drum-less at drum circles and use my djembe, but they are waste of money. REMO can and has done much better. I would be surprised if these are not discontinued by the manufacturer in the next year or so.
