This is my favorite pickup of all time. I have only tried it in the bridge position where I found it to have a high output with thick distortion but cleans up nicely when you roll the volume knob back. I have also found you can get a nice bluesy tone by rolling the tone knob back. This pickup sounds especially rich with a amplifier that the tubes are pushed.

I replaced the bridge pickup in my Schecter with this. I use that guitar for D standard and drop c for hardcore stuff like Terror and Hatebreed. Sounds great for that kind of music. High distortion, lots of chugging. I don't find it has a whole lot of single note clarity for soloing but I don't do a lot of that so no problem there. Definitely makes my guitar sound more aggressive.

The Dimarzio super distortion is the best bridge pickup for any electric guitar. This pickup does everything right from blues, rock, hard rock, hair metal, heavy metal, thrash metal, to death metal. It cleans up very nicely when you need it. When distorted this pickup becomes the sound you grew up listening to for years from the great artists from back then to now. You can hear every note with great string separation. I can see why it's a classic and still the choice for most guitarist.

Good beefy pickup. I put this one in an older, low-end Fender Squire with a single humbucker, just messing around trying to modify, customize and create monster sounding guitars. This pickup really awakened this little low-end guitar and turned it into a respectable player with strong sound. Among other modifications made, this guitar is now really strong and fun to play. Great pickup, very versatile. Try it out.

My favorite artists back in the 70s used these pickups and I found myself wanting to try them. Now decades later, I have. This pickup is just as great in the bridge position as I imagined it would. Swapping my stock pickup for this is a decision I definitely don't regret.

In 1980, while at a Concert, in Shreveport, Louisiana, I had the chance to talk to Ian Gillian's Guitar Player. I told him I had a Gibson LesPaul and asked for advice on Pickups. He suggested the DiMarzio Super Distortion. I put one on my Bridge and it was great. A great sound and boost.

This is the pickup that essentially started the aftermarket pickup game for guitars. In the bridge of a Les Paul, it is an instantly recognizable tone. Don't let the name fool you, though...by today's standards it is not a "fire breather" but will still hit the input stage of your more vintage amps a little harder.

The tone profile (BMT) is fairly accurate as provided by DiMarzio where you have a big (but vintage feeling) low end, lots of mids, and a slightly rolled off but articulate high end. If you want more juice than a PAF or find your bridge position a little too bright and biting....this is a great option.

I only wish it was readily offered in a 2 conductor wiring option as that is what I prefer over 4 conductor....thus the 4 star review. Again, that is just a personal preference.

This pickup can cover everything from rock, to blues, jazz to metal. The sound is thick and warm, with enough power to drive any amp into a rich overdrive. I've tried many pickups over the years, and I keep coming back to this one. It just works in every guitar it's been in with no fuss or drama. Solid performance, great tone, you can't miss with this one.

This is by far one of my most favorite bridge position pickups. The name by itself tells the story but not all of it. I have this pickup in many of my guitars from Gibson Custom Shop to Jackson and my son has one in his PRS. It blows me away every time I plug in. I can get a strong metal tone to a crisp articulate tone and with a rollback it will clean up nicely. Don't let the name fool you. It does more than just heavy headbanging type of music. Your single notes will sing with clarity and when rolled back gives a nice bluesy tone. Playing any type of Rock, Southern Rock, Metal Rhythm through this monster will give you goosebumps!! I love this pickup for both Lead and Rhythm. I talk to my sales Engineer and he when I need a new set of pickups for a new guitar purchase and he says, " Are we going with the Old Faithfull ?" hehe...……. Chris Ishak is one of the greatest Sales Engineer I could ask for. But, I'm sure we all say " mine is the best" .. that just goes to show how great Sweetwater really is. But sorry, Chris is definitely Tops!! He will go above and beyond every single time even if its just a little thing. He does so much for me behind the scenes and that's just one more reason to buy from Sweetwater. !! Thanks Chris... Your the best !!

I put a Super D in the bridge of my partscaster Superstrat and it blows away Les Pauls and PRSs when it comes to crunch and roar. I like this better than anything Seymour Duncan, Gibson, or EMG have to offer. Couldn't be happier!

I wont give a "5" for anything because nothing is perfect. Swapped out my bridge stock humbucker for the Super D in my 05 SG. WOW! If anyone out there is thinking about it...Do It!

Was wondering why these pickups were so cheap.. they sound good.. I like them.. I think I'm going to replace my bridge pickup with a lace senor or a lace deathbucker... but I love the sd in the neck posotion. They are great in that position... but ide like that to be a little stronger in the bridge slot... great all around pickup tho...

I have been using this bridge pick up since high school early 80s, next to the 81 EMG it's my favorite pick up without the hassle of all plugging your guitar

These pickups have that classic rock tone! A beautiful midrange that cuts through the mix with nice even lows and a sweet high end. Roll back the volume knob and they clean up nicely too. I have these pickups in three of my my Les Pauls and would consider this as my go to pickup when considering replacing stocks. Again, great for classic hard rock, fusion, etc. Think Ace Frehley, Al DiMeola, Iron Maiden!

Great pickup. Replaced a custom wound 'miti-mite' pickup in the neck of a custom 64 SG. the old pickup gave up the ghost during a major rework - the SD gives more clarity than the old pickup - but my remaining mity-mite is totally amazing regarding gravel and sustain. The two together give defination where it wasn't there before. Good pickup.
