Trick leads the pack when it comes to design, engineering, manufacturing and performing. I have had pedals, several beaters and cymbal toppers. They are all well conceived and executed.

This particular beater works great and has a nice balance. I sounds fine; you may think that you would lose some oomph and warmth going with a fully metal beater, but it just doesn't happen here.

A major thing to point out, is that the beater is mounted on the shaft via a set screw. Just make sure it is torqued good and check it once in a while the same as you would/should all of your wingnuts and other things-just to be sure. But, the GREAT thing about this feature is that you can put the shaft a the proper place in the pedal without have some much stick out of the bottom that it scrubs/punctures the heads, because you can adjust the spike zone my moving the head up and down the shaft using the provided hex/allen key. This is particularly helpful on smaller diameter bass drums where beaters tend to strike way off center and too close to the edge of the head to get a proper bass drum sound.

These are by far the best beaters for acoustic drums and Roland V Vrums. I use these on every application from recording to live shows. Most sound guys love these because, they are solid and not too heavy. These will last you a lifetime as they are made of metal (steel) of some type. As I do this review, I will mention that, you will need some type of protection on the head itself, depending on how hard to kick. No matter what size of acoustic kick-drum, you will surely get the full solid bottom and thump from these. I'm having to replace my head on my roland v drum kit after almost 2 years. I would recommend these to any genre of music. I use these in Nashville session work and the YouTube videos that I record.
