Volume Pedal for Guitar and Bass

Not sure if you have room for a volume pedal on your pedalboard? You do with the DOD Mini Volume Pedal. And even though it's ultra-compact, its rugged steel construction and gear drive mean it's ready to handle serious gig abuse. An integrated treble bleed circuit maintains your signal clarity when rolling back the volume, preventing muddy tone at lower volumes. Its 500k potentiometer makes it suitable for any volume pedal application, whether it's guitar, bass or other electrified instruments. At just five inches long and three inches wide, there's always room for the DOD Mini Volume Pedal.

The ped for tight boards

By Adam R. from Colorado
Music Background: Full time plank spanker/music producer

Real estate on my ne board was tight. The DOD is the smalkest footprint i've found.
It is built well.
Internally well designed.
Throw is adjustable and usable.
Transparent tonally throughout it's range.
Being used to a full sized treadle i'm still adjusting to having, on my board, to use the ball of my foot to sweep the volume.
And there is a slight amount of play with the treadle which could be fixed with a thin washer
All in all this will work out well for those who want to maximixe their board space

Stay away

By Sam from Los Angeles

Nice size, but this thing sucks tone like no other.
Also, not a very smooth fade and cuts out suddenly before going silent.
Just pulled it from my board.
The expression pedal is fine and I"ve been happy with that, but stay away from the volume pedal.

DOD mini volume

By Scarecrow from Chickamauga,GA,

In a world where you have to watch your volume levels when doing guitar solos,The DOD mini VP comes in real handy.Small, built well, you can get full saturation lead tones at controlled levels,.I run mine after my effects. This keeps the "GUITAR IS TO LOUD' A-holes off your back,so maybe they will ask you back for later gigs..Yea, DOD mini volume keeps the complaints down, cool pedal......."Started playing in 1962".

Go with something else

By Chris from Newark, OH
Music Background: Very experienced

Bought this and returned it. The swell was terrible and the construction was heavy but faulty. It stopped working after just a few uses. And I am extremely gentle with my gear. I sent it back and bought the mini Dunlop. I am very pleased with the Dunlop. My thanks to Kurt for his always excellent service.

Durability Issues

By Scott G. from Nashville
Music Background: Bass player and Guitar picker

The product was very enjoyable when it worked! However, I also had the same issue that Paul had- see other reviews. About 1.5 months after purchasing the product the I could not get the pedal to move. When I opened it up I found that the plastic "sawtooth rod" that turns the potentiometer had stripped and split, rendering it unusable. The pedal was not made of the "Rugged steel construction and gear drive" that it was described to have and did not have "maximum reliability." I thought that I had a lemon product, but then I saw that others were having this issue and decided to write a review.

TLDR: Fun when it works, but it broke and may have quality issues with a plastic part inside :'(

DOD mini vol

By Sweetwater Customer

For the most part an ok pedal. It fits on my little pedaltrain nano. But it makes an electronic noise - a click sound - about three times from the off position to the full on position. It's not loud but I think that shouldn't be happening.

Durability Issues

By Paul C. from Winthrop Harbor, IL
Music Background: Professional

Perhaps I received an early production lemon, but within two weeks my DOD mini volume pedal was exhibiting significant resistance. I opened it up to discover the gear on the pot and the sawtooth rod are made of plastic. With resistance at the pot the gear cracked open and actually flexed. I play guitar professionally in musical theater and a volume pedal is as essential as black clothing and a lint roller. This volume pedal, while sounding good overall with a minimum of tone suck, simply lacks the durability required for my application. With the help of Sweetwater's staff I painlessly replaced this with a Boss FV30H and the difference is night and day, the Boss is a superior product. Five stars for SW support on this one.

I love this thing!

By Mr G. from San Marcos, Texas
Music Background: Working musician since 1975.

After reading the previous review, I was a little leery of buying this pedal. I have several other mini volume and pedals and I've been unhappy with all of them. (full disclosure, I have not tried the dunlop mini volume pedal. It's a little too big for my current needs.) I needed something small enough to fit on a tight pedal board and give me the ability to control my volume as well as do swells. I am completely happy with the DOD mini. The taper works great for me. The volume changes very smoothly over nearly the entire range of the sweep. The previous reviewer's experience was so different from mine that I almost wonder if DOD has changed the pot taper. The pedal is small, but feels very solid. I also like the feel of the pedal. Just enough resistance, and it stays put when you take your foot of of it. Built like a tank too. My highest recommendation! I've already ordered the DOD mini expression pedal for my H-9. Can't wait.

DOD Mini Volume

By Mike from Texas
Music Background: Pro

First of all, I wouldn’t ordinarily review a volume pedal but, because I have not found hardly any at this point for this unit, I figured I would go ahead throw this out there. This pedal at least in my opinion has so much potential. Designwise it is so well done, sturdy and smooth under foot. The sound taper to my ear though is very abrupt and is very much an all or nothing volume. This may very well have something to do with the treble bleed circuit which leads me to think that some will dig it and some won’t. If your the type of player who likes to use your volume pedal to clean up your signal and bring down the intensity then this may not be for you. If your looking for a volume unit that holds the tone and intensity of your signal all the way down to pretty much zero, then you will probably love it. I’d be interested to hear it without the treble bleed. It also does not include a tuner out which is not necessarily a deal breaker but, a feature that I personally enjoy. In the end I had to return it and go with the Dunlop mini volume, which has really worked out well. I think DOD is headed in the right direction with this and like I said some may really like it, it just wasn’t for me. Awesome design and I’ll be watching this one should they ever make the tweaks that I would like to see. Should that ever come around, I will not hesitate to purchase. Cheers!
