Schecter Damien Platinum 8 - Satin Black Reviews

8-string Solidbody Electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Maple Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, and 2 Active EMG Humbucking Pickups - Satin Black

Are you into modern metal and rock? The Schecter Damien Platinum 8 8-string solidbody electric guitar can handle it. Just plug it into your favorite amp and listen to those active EMG pickups roar. Of course you'll have access to growling low-end fury, but the aggressive tonal response of the Damien Platinum 8 radiates across the entire fretboard. The through-body bridge gives you serious sustain. Add in Grover Rotomatic tuners, and you've got an axe that's both shred-ready and dependable. The deal is sealed: you've got an aggressive, tone-packed guitar with the Schecter Damien Platinum 8.

And the winner is .....

By Jonathan Willner from CA on November 7, 2021 Music Background: Experimental progressive hard rock / metal

This is my 3rd and least costly 8 string but it is by far the best of all 3 that I've had .... I previously returned 2 that just couldn't handle the lower notes. This one handles double drop C amazingly well in terms of string tension , sound, and playability . If you're looking for an amazing 8 string guitar that doesn't break the budget , look no further !

Solid Fun!

It is taking a while to get used to 8 strings, but this guitar has been awesome! DEEP like a cavern.

GREAT build

This guitar easily is worth $1k... the pickups, nut, set neck, tuners, scale length are ALL quality products. The specs are insane for this price... One of the best 8 strings I'va ever played. Hands down.

Sick.

I love this guitar. The inlays are just wicked and it's a great price. I do wanna point out that the listing here says it has a fretboard radius is 16" but the Schecter website states that it's 20". quite a big difference, maybe it's 16"-20" depending on where it's measured, a lot of guitars have multi-radius fretboards. I don't know why you wouldn't want all the manufacturer specs listed on here, let alone matching ones!

Am very happy with this.

Service from Sweetwater was fantastic. The instrument was in perfect condition, and came with a great setup right out of the box. As for the guitar itself, it plays great, sounds great, and is great. Couldn't be happier with it.

My First 8 String! I am in Love with this BEAST!

By Amedeo Madrid from MICHIGAN CITY, IN on January 5, 2020

This guitar, is my first 8 string, and I couldn't be more excited about exploring the extended range territory!
The guitar feels great, it looks great and the tone is AMAZING!

I'd give it six stars if I could

Can't think of anything wrong with this guitar. It's my first active one, and I've always stood away from that. With this guitar it just feels right. It's so easy to play you kind of forget it's an 8 string. It's absolutely beautiful, well made, and it won't leave you broke. At its price range good luck finding another guitar of the same quality.

ERGs

So I went from a 6 string straight to an 8. Let me just say that I chose to go the route of an extended ranged instrument because I was tired of down tuning and losing my high end. I researched guitars with similar specs to this one and everything down to the scale length can't be beat at this price. This is also my first Schecter guitar. It sounds great, the action is so smooth and fast, and the note clarity even on the low end is clear. The neck pickup sounds nice but I would have liked a bit more roundness and depth but this is not a deal breaker for me. If you play a 6 string now and are thinking about getting into the extended ranged instrument at a good price then you should go for this 8 string. It's easier going from an even number of strings to another even number and the materials and specs alone on this guitar is a STEAL!!!

Fantastic Extended Range Guitar!

By T Sigala from Bentonville, AR on January 21, 2014 Music Background: Hobbyist

I ordered the Schecter Damien 8 Platinum last week and it is a beast!. It has a 28" scale witch is unheard of for the price. The EMG 808s kick out great distortion. Very crisp even on the low end. I am using a Line 6 Spider 4 with it and it rocks. For the price...it would be very hard to find another 8 string with the options this guitar has. Definately worth the money! ....and you cannot go wrong ordering from Sweetwater. Simply the best customer service and fastest shipping times.

Great guitar

By Sweetwater Customer on November 4, 2021

This guitar sounds great and looks very nice. The only thing that took getting used to was the larger scale. Since this isn't a multi scale/fan fret guitar i found it tough playing anything super technical or fast but the actual sound and looks are stellar. Definitely one of, if not the best 8 string in this price range.

A very good looking guitar but unfortunately lacks tone

By Erick Carrillo from NJ on October 11, 2018 Music Background: 15 Years Guitar player

I Bought the Schecter Damien Platinum 8 back in 2015 and it was my first 8 string I was impressed by the look of the Guitar and a Korean neckthru 8 strings... looked like a really good deal comparing with other brands or the Hellraiser guitars of schecter. This guitar is very light and lacks of tone no matter how you dial your amp you cant make it sound properly I dont like it Distortion always lacks of punch and the cleans are very weak and have a natural reverb that I hate I Do not blame the EMGs because my experience with these same pickups in other guitars are different one example is that I bought the Damien Elite 8 strings and the Elite is totally better you can play almost any style with the Indonesian Bolt on is totally better and worth every penny. I ended uo selling my Damien Platinum and I won't recommend it.
