Great guitar, slight electronics issue

By will romero from Alpine, TX on July 3, 2023

The guitar was bought as a demo model for some minor scuffs on the finish which made it a really good deal. The guitar came with a bit high action, so I lowered it a bit and intonated the bridge. The strange issue I across is that the output was very weak. I changed cables and nothing changed. I changed the battery to a fresh one and nothing changed. I swapped the EMG 81/85 pickups with another set I had on hand and the same output issue was happening. I then looked up the wiring diagram for a 1 volume 1 tone EMG humbucker set and it turned out that the tone pot was wired incorrectly from the factory. I usually take the tone circuit out of guitars anyway, so I just clipped the wires that go from the volume pot to the tone pot and then everything (minus the tone pot) worked fine. Maybe the electronics person had a slight off day? Other than that issue, the guitar is what you would expect from Korean Schecter with top notch craftsmanship and quality. The neck is nice and thin with a very nice rosewood fingerboard, well done binding, and excellent fretwork. The finish is great with the classic satin black and multiply binding which really pops. On top of quick shipping my sales engineer Matt Christopherson was great as always.

Amazing guitar

By M. on April 23, 2023

This is my third guitar, which I've had for a little under six months. First I had a cheap, very difficult to play acoustic, then an Epiphone Les Paul - and picking this up, the difference in quality and playability was clear instantly. I love the neck - it's so thin and easy to play, the satin finish makes it feel much better in my hands than the glossed necks I've played (always bothered me with my other guitars). The cutaway where the neck is set makes it so much more comfortable to play the higher frets.
The pickups sound great, even through my kind of ****** amp. I originally heard of Schecter because I'm a giant Avenged Sevenfold fan, and their riffs and solos fly out beautifully on here. I can't give enough praise to how nice the neck and fretboard feel. The rosewood is so smooth, not to mention looks fantastic, the frets are leveled very nicely. Love this guitar.

Apart from the functionality, obviously the aesthetics of it are what caught my eye initially. ******* bats dude! I love the satin finish, I never liked the way the gloss (especially the solid black finish on my other electric) showed every bit of dirt or grease that came within 30 miles of the thing. Not to mention the scratches. No fingerprints or grime show up on here, so long as you keep it clean and don't let it build up. Scratching it is much more difficult from what I can tell. If not, it's just not as visible, which is also great.

I'm not the most experienced, but from everything I've read, all the guitars I've played in shops or owned, this thing is fantastic. I've played Gibsons and Fenders in stores, but I always end up preferring my Schecter. If you have the money and are in the market for something like this, especially if you're a fan of metal or hard rock, I couldn't recommend enough.

10/10: One of the Best Guitars I've Played

By Caden Shugert from THORNVILLE, OH on December 12, 2021

I own a few guitars, and I have never held one as comfortable and easy to play as the Damien Platinum. The EMG active pickups are 2 absolute monsters! As always, Schecter lives up to their reputation... Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a more affordable guitar that still holds its own and sounds great!

Amazing Guitar

I couldn't personally choose better parts to craft a guitar at this price point. It was everything I wanted. I wouldn't say this is a "budget" guitar but if you need a guitar for under $1000 this would be everything you would need. EMG pickups, Black Tusq Nut, Grover Tuners, Rosewood fretboard and personally I love how the platinum bat inlays look with the frosted platinum accents and hardware. I really think you are saving by not having an insane finish but like I said having put the money in all the right places this guitar plays a feels like a $1000+ axe. Last point is that the South Korean quality control is some of the best in the world and you wont have to worry about shoddy electronics like something from Indonesia. If Metal is what you want this thing will chug. No Upgrades required.

Beauty AND Beast

By Tommy from Alabama on March 23, 2021 Music Background: Singer/songwriter (10+ years, many breaks in between), mediocre guitarist (2 years then a decade break, now 1 more year), attempt bass (2ish months)

First off, a HUGE thanks to the best sales engineer of all time, Tony Greer, for recommending this guitar to me. He answered all my questions and took all my input and found this majestic axe.

After playing a beaten up Epiphone Les Paul for the past year, I feel like I'm playing a guitar forged by the metal gods themselves. The neck is so thin and so fast! The bat inlays are super cool. The action is nice and low with zero fret buzz. The EMG 81/85 combo absolutely SHREDS when you want it to, but it can play nice and be pretty when you need the clean.

I could keep going on and on about how awesome this guitar is. I cannot say enough good things about it. If you're looking for a high end feeling and playing guitar that won't destroy your bank account, look no further. You will not be disappointed!

Metal pretty

This guitar has nice low action, stays in tune, sounds amazing. If you've played the cheaper guitars then this will be an upgrade you will notice right away.

Old Timer Newbie

By Rob from Flushing, MI on March 3, 2019 Music Background: 1+ year of vocal training + 9 months guitar training. Both ongoing. Working toward doing a couple songs with my vocal/guitar instructer on gig night.

First of all and most importantly I have to give an enormous shout-out to my Sale's Engineer, Mr. Matt Fawcett. In my newbie ignorance I ordered a Schecter Hellraiser with a Floyd Rose set-up. I was super stoked to get it, to say the least. Once I got it I wanted, of course, to tune it drop D. Only knowing what I knew when tuning drop D on my Dean Performer E acoustic / electric 6 six string I was a little, "disgruntled", to say the least, to find out how much more involved it was to tune the Floyd Rose to drop D. Matt, being the consummate professional, handled the situation effortlessly and within a few short days I had the hard body Damien Platinum 6 in my hands. This is one sweet guitar and I currently spend far more time with it than I do my girlfriend...of which she's probably grateful for. LOL I am an extremely satisfied customer and I will confidently express that for as long as Matt chooses to pursue a career with Sweetwater I will be a returning customer. He has forged a professional relationship built on a foundation trust and hard work toward his customers and his company. Matt has earned my full respect and loyalty.

Amazing Guitar @ this Price

By Russ from Texas on December 2, 2021

Mahogany body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard, grover tuners, EMG pickups + quality South Korean manufacturing at this price is an insane value. Mine did need a fret level pretty badly when it arrived but otherwise was perfect (still a great value even if you factor in another $ for that). Looks great and sounds great.

And bats, freaking bats.

Great machine!

By JF from PA on July 30, 2021 Music Background: 20 yrs

The Platinum 6 is well appointed given the price point and delivers great sound with great ease. The C neck and jumbo frets mean a lightning fast fret board that is easy to play while the 81/85 do what they do. The body is comfortable and light while the neck thru gives amazing access to the 24th fret; stays in tune like a champ. Extremely happy with this purchase.
