Fantastic guitar for the price

By Simon A from New Hampshire on July 21, 2023 Music Background: Long-time rock player.

I'd been eyeing one of these because of the cool look, the simplicity, the locking tuners and the apparent light weight. A week ago I happened upon a used one a a local store and couldn't resist. While I didn't go with Sweetwater for this purchase -- I'll be back soon, I promise! -- I figured I'd write a review nonetheless. And I'm really happy with this guitar, for the price it's an incredible value. The light weight is real and I very much appreciate it. The overall quality is spectacular for price, and really even regardless of price. The Charvel locking tuners are great. The bridge and pots are solid. There's no filter/bypass push-pull kind of thing - and I was looking for that, as I find those annoying. The neck is slim which I also like. The neck wood seems almost completely unfinished which felt just a tad unexpected at first but I haven't had any sticking or speed challenges. The frets aren't stainless steel (I'm not sure exactly what they are) but no issues. The pickups and guitar overall sound good. (I play quite a lot but I've never been one to overly notice the difference between pickups.) And as I already said, it's nice a light.

I see the writeup describes this guitar as an aggressive metal machine. I don't find it such at all, and I'm glad I didn't read that before seeing the guitar or I don't think I'd have bought it as I was not looking for a shred machine. And this isn't one. I'm definitely a fan.

its a great piece

5 stars

I've had this beauty for over a week now and I absolutely love it. It played great right out of the box/case, no adjustments needed. I just tweaked the tuning and it was ready to go. This guitar is a real joy to play (that neck) and stunning to look at! Did I mention the neck... Tone wise, I find the Full Shred/Alnico II Pro to be a nice break from the standard JB/59 you find in similar models. My one and only comment - reverse headstock. Something about this guitar just screams reverse strat headstock. A big thank you to my Sweetwater Sales Rep Chris for helping me navigate towards this guitar.
