.....but this is the best guitar ive ever played. ive played mainly fenders for 25 years, and i prefer slimmer necks, and this is SUBLIME. The smoothest, fastest neck I have ever played. Light, well built, and sounds incredible.

A lot to love

So many cool little touches. The pickups are very hot but well balanced across all the switching positions. Extremely comfortable to play, easy on the hands and back.

Oh You Beautiful Tone Beast

Sometimes the guitar descriptions put me off a bit when they say things like "speed neck." I don't consider myself a "shredder," more of a blues/rock player with some leaning towards jazz and prog – with occasional fast licks.
This model is 22 frets though & I was attracted to the wood combination with these particular pickups.
I'm enjoying this guitar aesthetically, feeling and tone.
The natural look is striking – the walnut finished top has amazing grain lines. The mahogany body is a singular piece with tight grain and the roasted maple neck has a unique grain pattern. Couple that with the gold hardware & she is a beauty.
For me the neck is very comfortable in the hand and the fret edges are smooth. I don't have any issues with different radius but this is flatter than most Strats (my S types go from 7.5" to 12").
I enjoy the comfort and accessibility of the Dinky type strat body. That's an interesting point about this guitar – a Fender look, a Jackson body and EVH electronics. The Gotoh 510 (floating) seems to be a very stable system as I've abused it immensely and the guitar stays in tune.
Speaking of electronics (which are nice quality), there is no coil split on the humbucker. Instead the 5-way switch isn't typical: 1-bridge humbucker, 2-inner humbucker coil & middle, 3-outer humbucker coil & neck, 4-middle & neck, 5-neck. Love the "no load" 1-9 is tone control but 10 is wide open pickups.
Love the tones and sustain is off the charts. Also, the little things like luminlay dots on the neck top and the rethinking of the ¼ Jack on the underside. It seems crazy at first when you plug the guitar in until you realize it's such a smart setup- the cord is so out of the way this method.
I did have a problem with new gear day as Charvel packed a Floyd Rose trem arm instead of the Gotoh. Nick Huskins (#1 problem fixer) quickly sent a nice new gold bar so I could take the ugly vintage chrome Fender bar with the white tip off my pretty new axe. Sweetwater's service once again to the rescue!
