Behringer DI4800A Professional 4 Channel Active DI-Box Reviews

4-channel Active Direct Box and Signal Splitter with 4 XLR Combi Inputs, 8 Transformer-isolated XLR Outputs, +6/+12dB Channel Boosts, and -20dB Pad Switches

With the Behringer DI4800A 4-channel active direct box, you've got robust direct injection for the whole band in a convenient 1U rackmount size. No more messing with cumbersome stage boxes and rat's nests of cable — the DI4800A sits comfortably in a rack at the back of your stage for clean, clear reproduction of your live instrumentation. However, the budget-conscious DI4800A is more than just a refreshing take on the traditional DI. Onboard active circuitry makes this 4-channel DI an ultra-low-noise line driver as well, with stackable +6dB and +12dB active boosts for feeding weak acoustic guitar pickups and consumer-level keyboard outputs to a soundboard for amplification. In the studio, the DI4800A is equally at home as a signal splitter. Two sets of transformer-isolated outputs — one set on the front, and another set on the rear with -20dB pads — make the Behringer DI4800A a powerful creative tool in any performance environment. Take it from sound engineers Sweetwater: whether you're streamlining your stage DIs or stretching your studio limits, there's a world of possibilities waiting for you with the Behringer DI4800A Professional 4-channel Active DI Box.

Great DI with one caveat.

By Ted from Virginia Beach, VA on October 4, 2021 Music Background: Performing musician and engineer

I use two of these for my band's X32 rack setup, both as a DI and splitter for two stereo keyboards and three Line 6 Helix processors. They provide a convenient front panel connection point for it all, with front panel splits if we're connecting to a non-Behringer/Midas front of house console. We've been through a bunch of rehearsals and shows with them, and they've thus far been quiet, effective, and reliable. The DI4800A appear to be identical in form and function to the far more expensive Palmer PAN08.

What I knock off a star for is the buttons. Like the PAN08, the four buttons to engage the 20db pad are on the back of the unit, and have several times been activated inadvertently during transport. Once everything is in place, it's not easy to see the buttons, even inside a shallow 13" deep rack. I wish they were on the front of the unit with the gain and ground lift buttons, as it would be a quick fix when I notice our keyboardist has one channel that's running at a far lower level.

DOES NOT PASS PHANTOM POWER!

By Paul from CA on December 12, 2023

This I think would be a great thing to list in the product description, as it will not pass phantom power. Other than that, it works just like any other low price DI. Now I have to start an exchange process....
