Micro-sized Guitar Noise Reduction Pedal with Adaptive Tracking

Noise is the enemy. It murders your tone, muddles your playing, and pegs you as a rank amateur. That's why you need the ISP Technologies DECI-MATE. It's an effective way to clean up your guitar rig, and thanks to its small footprint, it won't gobble up pedalboard real estate. The DECI-MATE offers superior performance when compared to traditional noise gates, by virtue of Decimator X technology, which flawlessly tracks everything from rapid-fire staccato riffs to long, sustained phrases — no chopped-off notes here! Beyond that, an all-analog circuit ensures absolute transparency with no digital artifacts. Face it — your pedalboard needs noise reduction, and the DECI-MATE delivers the goods. There's a reason that so many guitarists play through Decimator pedals — they sound amazing!

Noise Reduction at its best.

By John B. from New Iberia, Louisiana
Music Background: Rock n roll guitar player

I have several pedal boards and I have a deci-mate on each one. I have the larger ISP decimator 2 just after my volume pedal to silence all P-90 and guitar hum and at the very end of the board I have the ISP DECI-MATE MICRO that knocks out all pedal gain buzz. This and a few other tricks leaves me with pure noise free sound. The price for it is also a big plus.

Quiets P90 hum

By Gatordome from Southeastern US
Music Background: Longtime acoustic player recently trying electric

I got this pedal to cancel out hum from Les Paul clone with P90 pickups. Really simple. Put it between guitar and amp, turn up the amp, and turn the knob on the pedal until hum is gone. Works great!

Does a lot of good on my board

By Evan R. from Bethesda, MD

I found this to be an outstanding noise gate, the best one I've used out of about 4 or 5 that I've tried.
It does exactly what it is supposed to do - it blocks the EM noise without affecting the quality of your signal. I almost didn't buy this because of another review saying that the pedal didn't do anything,. After only 30 minutes on my board I can say that does in fact do quite a bit, so much so that I felt the need to log in and write a review to share my experience.

I have 9 pedals on my board, and 7 make noise to some extent. Combined it sounds like someone is amplifying the sound of a sparkler through my speaker cone. I placed this at the end of my chain. From the entry-level setting of -70db all the way to to -20db, this pedal made no difference at all. Then suddenly, magic. From -20db to -10db, a tiny move from about 2 to 3 o'clock on the control knob, the noise just stopped in its tracks. I expected there to be some latency with the sound but it popped out of the amp as if I wasn't using a noise gate at all. Then goodbye noise once the playing stops. Exactly what you want. If you crank the threshold all the way, then yes, there's a slightly muted response, but even then it's just barely noticeable. Overall just an outstanding noise gate, especially for the size. Fits right in on a crowded board.

works great until it breaks

By Sweetwater Customer

I liked this pedal better than the Boss NS2 until the unsupported 3.5mm jack for the effect loop breakout cable starting having intermittent connections. They need to improve this design

Excellent Noise Reduction Unit

By Dr. D. from Port Orange, FL
Music Background: 40 years experience as professional guitarist, recording, live shows, etc., etc.,...

Small form factor, great $$$, gate/threshold is easily tweakable. Doesn't have that digital chatter/gate/threshold issues some noise reduction units have. Gets rid of everything you don't want in your noisy signal chain.

Escellent Noise Suppressor

By Sweetwater Customer from WA
Music Background: palying 55 years; multiple genres

I had a Boss NS-2 which I used with the 4 cable method. Now, many people absolutely love the NS-2. I didn't. I only bring that up to say, I had to have a better solution....and...the Decimator was the answer. However, I was also bumping up against a space problem on my board; for both the space issue and the quality noise suppression, the diminutive Deci-Mate answered the bell. So, I run three different degrees overdrive\istortion pedals into my Boss ES-8 switcher; I run three becausse I don't want to be changing settings on a pedal in the middle of a set. Light breakup shading to middle level breakup is handled in the same loop as middle of the road Jetter Gold; with access to both of these stompboxs, I turn off the one I don't want on any particular song, or I can stack them. I love the 70's rock sound of my Hot Tubes (think Led Zeplin, Uriah Heep, many others - this is not an 80's metal band OD; and, I was more than ok with that) which is in a loop of it's own. Since the Deci-Mate only suppresses noise at the input jack, my setup required one on each of my OD loops. It's the very best noise suppressor I've used.

Just what I needed!

By Mark P. from FL

I was looking for a solution to quiet the noise in the loop of both my Peavey 5150II and Marshall DSL40CR. I've tried the NS1 and MXR gate with no luck, they both colored the tone badly in the loop. This Decimator does it! No colored tone and super quiet, and the mini pedal takes little space on my board. Nick and the guys at Sweetwater are always awesome!

Can't be easier to use

By George H. from Dunedin, FL
Music Background: Weekend gigging guitarist

One knob.... can't be easier. I use this in the loop of my 5150 III 50 watt and it keeps the noise and hiss at bay. Just a great pedal for what it does.

0 stars if available

By Tommy B. from FL
Music Background: Metal

So I put this at the end of my chain... I'm running a specular tempus and a boost thru FX loop of engl savage (noise factory)... I heard good things about the g-string decimator too but decided to get this for the price it did absolutely nothing! I put it at the start of my chain again nothing...into the amp...little difference...spend the cash for something better if you play hi gain...

Works on Bass.

By John D. from Temescal Valley, CA
Music Background: Bass Player

When I discovered I needed some noise suppression for my bass pedalboard I looked at the Deci-Mate for its compactability. It needed to fit in a very limited space.
The effects entering the input only are effected by the Deci-Mate"s noise suppression circuitry. If adding reverb effects to your effects chain it should be placed after the output for proper time-based sound effect.
The threshold control sets your noise gate to eliminate hum, but also seems to diminish natural decay times the higher it is set past necessary noise threshold.
For noise suppression it works great! It is small, so it fits in more places than a standard size pedal.

Bring On The Noise

By David L. from OR
Music Background: Guitar Player

This thing is great. When set properly the decay is very natural sounding, and none of the beginning attack is lost when you first hit a string either. X technology is Xcellent!!!

Great Noise Gate!

By Shawn D. from Johnson City, TN

This is easily the best mini noise gate made at this time. I needed a small form factor and have tried all of the mini noise gates. This is by far the best. It does its job and doesn"t get in the way. However, I"m giving it 4.5 stars because the input / output jack nuts were loose and needed to be tightened. They could be turned by hand so it was very obvious. Other than this, I think it is a great item.
