Keeley DDR Drive - Delay - Reverb Pedal Reviews

2-channel Multi-FX Pedal with 2 Drives, 2 Delays, and 2 Reverbs, Plus Optional True Bypass Switching

Dirt and ambience form the foundation for many of our all-time favorite guitar tones. The Robert Keeley DDR stacks two flavors of three iconic effects — two overdrive colors and your choice of two reverbs or two delays — into a single box with tons of cool features under (outside, actually) the hood. Whether you're after a multi-tasker for an open spot on your board or a streamlined single-pedal gigging solution, the Keeley DDR can scratch that itch. British chime to hard-clipped tube saturation, vintage spring to modern plate reverb, even a BBD-type delay to a repeat-perfect digital — it's all here in the DDR. External toggles for true bypass or tails-intact switching and an insert for placing additional FX between the drive and ambience stages add major replay value to the well-priced Keeley DDR.

If you just need the basics and don't want to mess with a pedalboard, this is all you need.

keeley ddr

I have used this about 3 months now. The quality is top notch, as is the sound.
I have many pedals and most are rehashes of other products. I am extremely pleased, the sound is pristine without sounding like a rack mount processor, and I have owned several , and still own a couple .this pedal is refreshing for being musical and pure at the same time. insert is nice, for fx order. This pedal is simple to operate, sounds great; and makes playing simple and fun.I think that fun is why i started playing years ago.

My first experience choice a pedal effect

I'm new about with the pedals effects, but I'm very happy with quality and the diverse sound can make...worth it the price and thanks sweetwater for everything

Great Pedal from a trusted brand

By Sweetwater Customer on November 27, 2021

I put this right into the front of a hughes and kettner 5w and i'm able to acheive great blues tones to moderate rock crunch tones. Delay and Reverb sound great too, was wondering how it would sound without an FX loop but it seems to be just fine.

If I could only have one pedal, this would be it. It's that good!

Keeley DDR Drive - Delay - Reverb Pedal

Short and Sweet Review - EXCELLENT piece of gear!!

First Impression: Impressive

By H Michael Green from Emerson, GA on December 1, 2020

A great idea to put delay/reverb and overdrive/dist. in the same stomp box; for occasions when you don't want to drag out your whole pedal board. I find very usable tones on the overdrive side. There is a "style" switch to choose between bright and a darker crunch that sounds good on power chords. The other side of the unit has a delay/reverb choice that include a "trails" switch so you can choose to have your delay/reverb to continue to trail when you turn 0ff the delay instead of an abrupt stop. Both sides have the 3 knob adjustments you need to dial in what you want. Size is 3.5" x 4.5". My first Keeley pedal and I can tell some thought went into the development.

Never so impressed

By Tony Baris from Philadelphia, PA on July 28, 2020 Music Background: I play guitar.

This pedal is amazing. I'm using it with an exotic boost in to a blues junior 4. If someone told me I could only have 5 pedals for the rest of my life this would be on the list. The drives are incredibly responsive. You will be very happy indeed. The delay and reverb are perfect. I don't mind at all that you can't use delay and reverb at the same time . If I want both I can just use the delay on the pedal and then add a little amp reverb. This is the first time I've reviewed a pedal....that's how much I love it. Before I go..... Thanks to everyone at Sweetwater! Your company and service is unmatched .

Another winner from Keeley Electronics!

I recently sold some gear… which allowed me to have a little fun with my pedalboard. I've had a cheap no-name overdrive pedal and a cheap mini-delay pedal on my board for years. They were fun purchases at the time, but I've been wanting to step up have been looking at different drive pedals. I stumbled across this on a website and thought it was a reverb/drive pedal and I was thinking I wouldn't want it as I just bought a reverb pedal. Once i read further, i see there is a delay option. Ok, I'm hooked.

Kids, buy this pedal. It's great. As an old road worn musician, I used multi effects pedalboards for years. Boss, Line6, ZOOM, Digitech, you name it. This pedal sounds fantastic. I haven't gotten a sound out of it i don't like yet. Both overdrives are great. Sonically, you can hear a difference, but I really think both are fantastic and have their place, whether you're playing classic rock, blues, country, etc.

The reverb can be switched from spring to plate. I'm a spring reverb guy and it sounds fantastic. The plate is really really well done too. Might be my favorite part about this pedal. The delay can be switched from an analog tape sounding delay to digital with the flip of a switch. Took me all of about a minute to find what I was looking for. Blew my mini-delay away by a mile and I must say, it's better than any delay i've had in a multi-fx unit.

I like the price, size and sound from this pedal. If I needed to in a heartbeat, I could easily take just this pedal and an amp to a gig and be set for the night. I wouldn't need anything else. Great job Keeley and thanks Sweetwater for this great deal!

Great Pedal!!

By John Ellard, Sr. from Texas on May 28, 2020

Since I received my DDR from Sweetwater this morning, I've been playing it non-stop. First on the pedalboard I placed it AFTER a Triangle Big Muff, which is preceded by a Soul Food. A LOT of gain, right? The Keeley DDR didn't mind it all when slammed with the output from the Soul Food into the Triangle Big Muff. I was expected an oversaturated muddy sound, but that's not what I got. The Keeley DDR seemed to filter out the harshness when all 3 pedals were on at the same time. The end result is a glorious sustained tone.

Then I took it off the board and played ia alone. Again, great sounds from both drives using a Deluxe Player's Strat with Fender Vintage Noiseless pups. The Spring and Plate reverbs both sound great. The analog delay has a nice touch of modulation, not too much, just the right amount. For a straight up repeating delay, the digital delay does the job.

The TRS Insert ability is a nice added feature, too, if you want to stick other pedals between the overdrives and delay/reverb, you can with a pair of TRS to TS/TS breaker cables.

This is a very clean, quiet pedal, but adds the grit and soul when you want or need it.

Insane value for the money

By Chris from Brooklyn on May 11, 2020 Music Background: 30 years

This is basically 6 pedals in one. Each effect is more than good enough that if you played it as a stand alone Pedal you wouldn't think twice about paying over $100 for them. You could easily spend $750 on pedals just to get the same sounds that are in this pedal. Granted if you had 6 separate pedals you could use them together etc... My point it just that this pedal does 6 things really really well, so it's a total steel.

Originally I was looking at simple analog delay like a DM-2W or a Carbon Copy, but I thought I'd give this a try because of the aforementioned crazy value. I'm so glad I did 1. The analog delay is everything I wanted in a delay, easy to use, versatile and easy to use. 2. The 1962 drive is amazing, I sold another pedal because this does that bluesbreaker this so well. 3. I wasn't even looking for a reverb, but these are really nice. I a/b'd the spring sound with a spring TonePrint in my Hall of Fame and I like this better, so I can use the HOF for a different sound now.

The only knock would be not being able to use the delay and reverb at the same time, not really an issue for me. The Caverns is better suited for that kind of application. And haven't to use TRS cables to insert pedal between the side is less ideal since now I have to buy TRS cables, still a good value though. *i think they didn't include insert jacks on the pedal itself because they were trying to keep in in the compact double enclosure.

One Special Use Boutique Pedal From Keeley

By Ken from Austin on October 10, 2019

I use a Katana head with all the STELLAR Boss effects a guitarslinger could use, and I also use a 5 Watt Blackstar head. Both have FX loops , mojo good reverbs, etc., but I found I only needed ONE double use pedal, The Keeley DDR , to boost the small tonal gaps between both amps. Smooth and perfect effects in this slightly larger pedal.
Well....to be honest, the sound of this pedal is studio grade heaven. Keeley rocks.! This Texan loves 'em, as their product support rates the best of primo USA boutique mojo pedals...and they are all nice folks! I add my Monterey in the Insert/FX of the pedal, then use the Katana to add all the extra majic. Super pedal that works perfect for my needs. Thanks Keeley/Sweetwater

TONE-A-LICIOUS!

By John Bruton from NEW MILFORD, NJ on September 9, 2019 Music Background: Singer/songwriter/performer-over 40 years

I own and use a few quality pedals including a few Keeley effects including this new DDR. The thing I like most about the new DDR is how user friendly it is and how fast you can dial up killer tones on the fly. Keeley makes a line of fine pedals and they're built like a tank and quiet!

I'm an old school live guitar player so I don't want to spend a lot of time figuring it out. I just plugged it in and quickly found some luscious reverb and delay tones I could use regularly on my pedal board. More complicated pedals are great for what they do but if you are primarily a live performer as opposed to a studio musician you will absolutely love this pedal.

Of course it's great in the studio also but IMHO the live setting is where it really shines in adding those golden reverb and delay tones that will certainly elevate your tone in a band mix. Again, IMHO it's a must have on your pedal board.

Great stomp to add to the arsenal, this will be one of the foundation pedals of my new board. Mr. Keeley and Co. are a phenomenal group of people to work with.... great pairing with Sweetwater!

My wonderful wife kindly gifted me a Keeley DDR yesterday - and I have to say - this is an inspiring piece of gear. Let"s dig into a couple of my thoughts!

This is my second Keeley pedal (I had a Katana once) and the first impression is great. The DDR is well built, and the switches feels so good! I actually wish all my other pedals had the same switching. The pedal has a low noise floor - it"s dead quiet - even though it"s powered by a daisy chained Volto V2. The layout and design is intuitive and easy to understand - which is a good thing, as less time is wasted turning knobs and never sorting out how to dial in the right tone.

To my ears, I"m not able to get a bad sound out of this thing. Lovely reverb, delay and two different drive settings turns the DDR into the Swiss Army Knife of my pedalboard.

I've seen some complaints about the fact that it"s impossible to run reverb and delay at the same time - this does not bother me at all. 95% of the time I gig or practice with amps that have built in reverb - if not, I now have a great backup on my board for the remaining 5%. I"m not that into delay either, to be honest, but it"s great for a little bit of slapback, or for some delay fun at gigs - if a song or two requires it.

Thumbs up - the DDR rocks!

What an incredible pedal! This is the perfect grab and go for the working musician. A wonderful solid blues breaker style drive and choice of delay or reverb. Both the analog and digital delays are amazing. I can't recommend the pedal enough. It only took 5 minutes for this to become one of my all time favorite Keeley pedals (and I have over 20 different Keeleys).

Another Home Run From Keeley

By Ken O from Austin, Tejas on October 8, 2019

I knew what I was getting into before purchasing this pedal, but wow, this is a great multi-use pedal, way more than I expected. My amp has a pretty sweet reverb, so I'm usually in drive/delay mode but there's that "INSERT" additional Keeley pedals in the onboard FX loop thing that's pure genuis. Oh heck, yeah. Add a wah and a Monterey pedal, hit the Mojo Tone.

Very versatile

By Kurt from Boston, MA on June 11, 2019

This is a well built pedal that is a little larger (width) than average if you are considering for a board. Both drives are excellent and you can run other pedals into its own fx loop which provides endless options. The reverb and the delay options are also pretty customizable using the blend/decay/time to adjust to your tastes. Mixing them with the two drives provides dozens of options to play with. The only thing that could be better is if you could run the reverb and the delay at the same time (you must select one or the other). No setting of this pedal doesn't sound good in some way and you will have to play with it for a while to see what you like best. It does not come with a power cable (9V) and does not run batteries.

I got this pedal because I needed a grab and go pedal. With overdrive, reverb and delay, the big three you want. It was perfect. Having two choices on each effect is a bonus. The only drawback is that you can't use the reverb and delay at the same time.

Great pedal

By Tim on August 30, 2020 Music Background: intermediate enthusiast

The DDR is a great pedal. The only drawback is you have to choose between the reverb setting or the delay and you can't use both at the same time. Otherwise it is a good sounding pedal. Thanks again to the staff at Sweetwater for the excellent service

Saw Eric Johnson pedalboard video with Don at SW and decided to try this. I like the delay which offers a better ambiance on long delays and a more defined slap than my TC Electronic Flashback which is still my #1. The OD channel has more bite and crunch that blends with my other OD's and also useful for classic rock rhythms. Still checking it out but think it's a keeper esp. as I got the recent sale price.

Doesn't sound like the demo.
