I purchased one of this controller for myself. I used and own a lot of higher level Dj gear,so I have some experience.
1st the controller comes without power supply,and requires a 9v 3A minimum,so no, your smartphone or tablet charger not works with this. The controller looks pretty at first glance, but things changes when the lights out. Don't try to looking for the rather gray than white scales or text, you won't see. The buttons feels very-very cheap, especially the groove circuit. The groove circuit drums are oversaturated, always standing out from the track what you playing, so just totally unusable. The worst part, and that was the main reason why I sold this controller very quick: the output volume. I hooked up my JBL Lsr studio monitors and the speakers always on max gain. When I turned the controller output maximum, the speakers wasn't even close to the maximum volume. I think now this is the worst controller what Pioneer Dj/Alphatheta released ever.

I love this controller. The options whether with Rekordbox or Serato. I'm a Serato user. Customer service is great as well. Transitions between songs with the built in sound effects give it a different vibe. I like the sound effect knobs and there are more effects under the padfx button. The drum roll is great because I don't have to use shift+hot cue buttons to trigger something on. Bc it does use your cpu to charge the board I don't like but I dont need an extra outlet to plug something in as well is great. I'm having some issue with the right job wheel when I do a backspin not playing. When I do a backspin it just stops playing where it lands which is annoying and I only had it 3 months. Other than that this is a great controller.

I have recently purchased this device.
After opening it out of the box, I noticed that the only cable it came with was a USBC cable to connect to a laptop or a device. I was having issues with power, The USBC cable it came with did not provide sufficient power to my device. I had to spend hours troubleshooting the proper way to power the device.

First of all, the USBC cable that this device comes with is very short, so you're going to have really limited range unless your laptop you're using is right next to your device.

Secondly, using the USBC cable directly into a docking station that I have did not provide sufficient power for the device to turn on. Since my desktop PC doesn't have a USBC port on it, I had used a USBC to A adapter cable. Plugging it into my desktop, PC or a power hub that I purchased did not provide sufficient power to the device.


I ended up finally being able to power the device by using an AC power brick that I purchase for laptops and then using the USBC to A adapter to route midi into my PC.

It's a beautiful device and the buttons feel great, but getting the correct power source was a real pain and the options for proper power sources are rather limited.

I understand that this is a new product and maybe this is something that should be feedback for the manufacturer. I feel that this should have come with an AC adapter or some kind of power cable of its own.

The previous reviewer is wrong about the power option. Yes you can use a 9V 3A, BUT you can also power it over 5V USB bus easily to the PC/Laptop/Mac. They were very deceptive in their post and did not mention this. You have both options to power this controller. I've already powered it via my laptop and a Mac Mini M4. Just make sure you use a USB3 spec'd port, NOT USB 2.0 which is what they likely tried. USB 3 will provide 5v power.

I owned several PioneerDj products over the years, like ddj rb, rz,1000,800,Sr, but this product maybe the weakest one.
I'm ok with the body build quality, however the matte finish collect fingerprints crazy, and here comes the 1st bad impression, the texts on this controller are not white, rather light gray. Combined with the matte finish, makes the text on the controller invisible with low lights. Next bad impression comes with no power supply. It needs 9V 3amp, so your laptop usb outlet not enough to feed this thing. No power button,so you have to unplug the usb-c connectors,just crazy

I have been looking for a while to upgrade my two channel DDJ-FLX4 controller to a four channel DJ controller. However, the prices were just too much. The AlphaTheta DDJ-GRV6 is the perfect 4-channel controller that is better than most due to the extras that you get with this controller. The price will also not break the bank. I love the groove circuit addition which is a great addition for DJs to change the groove to just about any song. I am thankful for the great service that Sweetwater always provide its customers. You guys are AWESOME at what you do to help us be more creative in the art of music.

Apparently not having an external power source make the output volume really low it's comparable with the output volume of DDJ 400 but balance.
