Boss DD-8 Digital Delay Pedal
Boss DD-8 Digital Delay Pedal Reviews
Ever since BOSS released the DM-1 Delay Machine in 1978, the BOSS name has been synonymous with great-sounding delay pedals. The DD-8 is the brand's most powerful one yet. This compact delay stompbox boasts up to 10 seconds of delay and 11 versatile delay modes that range from crystal clear repeats to glitchy and modulated echoes. The BOSS DD-8 is ideal for practice, soundchecks, and on-the-fly backing tracks, courtesy of its 40-second looper. And synchronizing your repeats to a song is a breeze, thanks to tap tempo. You also get a Carryover switch, which enables delay trails to continue after the effect is bypassed. The DD-8 is teeming with flexible stereo I/O, while three selectable output modes achieve a wide range of effects. The BOSS DD-8 includes external footswitch jacks for on-demand tap tempo, extended looper control, and a captivating Twist effect.
Completely awesome.
This is a must have for guitar effects. Sounds like a studio rack mount digital delay unit. Easy to operate. Sturdy construction. What else can I say? How about worth every penny!
Almost perfect.
It has a ton of features and ability!
I wish it had 2290 delay, and easier options to change subdivisions.
I understand the latter as Boss seems to shy away from dip switches and toggles for what I assume is for durability.
Amazing delay for the size.
Best compact digital delay
As awaited from an industry standard like Boss I can assure that the DD-8 is the best sounding digital delay on it´s price point, with it's ten delay types and it's included 38sec looper you can have it all. My favorite one is the analog delay cus' eventhough it is a digital pedal it does the job very well. Persnally I do recommend to buy it with a Boss FS-7 Footswitch
tough Boss !
Boss is great quality and I'm happy with the purchase !
Far-out!
This pedal has so many sonic possibilities. I particularly like the feedback loop and the dotted eighth note delay rhythm. Easy to use and doesn't take up the kind of space that the larger pedals, like the early Pog,require. Good deal for the money.
Extremely versatile
I bought this as an upgrade from a DD-7. I wanted the extra modes. The tape and warm modes were something that was exclusive to this model. The modes named the same (analog for example) do sound different between the 2 of them. I can't say one is better than the other, just different. A must have for any pedal board.
This pedal does A LOT!
Take your time and read the manual for this pedal because it does a lot of different stuff and depending on what mode you're in thr knobs may do something different. So far my favorite modes are: standard, tape, shimmer and glitch. Every mode on this pedal is executed well and will not disappoint, even the looper is great for some short practice loops! I may get n expression pedal soon so I can adjust some settings on the fly. I'd recommend this pedal to anyone looking for a delay that does lots of different delays expertly!
Versatile
You really can't go wrong with Boss pedals. They are built to last and they are user friendly and extremely versatile. Can't say enough good things and shout out to my Sweetwater rep Timothy for always making sure I'm satisfied with my gear purchases!
Flexible and great sound
I wanted a delay that could do a better reverb setting and saw this one. So far it's been really good doing both jobs as a delay/reverb.
Tons of settings that all sound really good and I am excited to play with this one. I have or had other popular delay pedals and this one is quickly becoming my favorite.
DD-8 is great
Awesome quality ! Awesome versatility ! Awesome pedal !
Perfect
Still messing around with the settings. Loving this pedal. Can't go wrong with boss. Would definitely recommend.
It’s a Boss pedal.
Powerful machine
Crystal clear repeats, and many other cool sounds on tap. Easy to get a great sound. I love that you can use tap tempo on every setting, unlike previous iterations of the DD pedal. Buy with confidence.
Awesome.
It just works. And sounds good. I use a Dunlop tap switch with it. Compact.
Abundance of sound!
This pedal is excellent! Many options to create many different delays. It works flawlessly! Not a single complaint. I have another delay pedal that is great also, but this one has so many more options to craft nearly any delay In looking for! Absolutely love it and Sweetwater is the best! Their customer service is top notch! CSR Matt is THE BEST! If only all business' practiced Sweetwater's service ethics.
The Only Delay Stomp You Need
It only took a week for this to become my favorite pedal. In fact, other than an SP compressor, the DD-8 is now my only effects pedal. I'm doing some experimental ambient music and this BOSS sounds amazing with guitar, bass, even my Cobalt 5S synth. It's BOSS so you know it's heavy duty. It's amazing the number of effects crammed into this little box. Buy it! You'll be mesmerized. Thanks Jeremiah and Sweetwater.
Boss DD-8

Great delay with the right features
DD-8
Sweetwater came through again with an awesome petal and lighting shipping.
Beautiful sounds
I'm a drummer making an experimental album and this was the first necessity on my list. There is tons of options and sounds that are just awesome. Ambience, echo & shimmer are all located in this pedal. Very happy with it and strongly recommend it for all musicians beginners and pros.

I use it with my Marshall DSL 40C Valve Amplifier. With a Les Paul Standard guitar, Fender 60 Aniversary Stratocaster Guitar, Phaser, Chorus, Guitar Syn Pedal, Reverb and others. Really, a very nice set up. Dd-8 is a great choice. With the clean channel is a beautifull music.

The best multi delay in a small box, unlike the memory man box ( I love the memory man pedal ).
This delay pedal has more delays and better sounding delays then most I've played on. I bought the TC flashback 2 and I love that one too but the boss delay sounds better, the flashback 2 sounds like the delays are repeating in wave almost like a phaser. You can't go wrong with the DD-8 if I were to give advice about multiple delay pedals I would suggest the DD-8.
DD3 + 5(stars) = DD8
I have the Boss DD3 and it sounds great.
The DD8 is definitely a step ahead: you can still have all the features and sounds of DD3 but with a much wider range of possibilities.
Sound move from organic analog to sophisticated ambience harmonics.
Simple and intuitive to use.
Recommended.
Boss DD-8
Works amazingly well. Having a lot of fun using it. Fast delivery.
Thanks.
Can't set subdivisions on the fly?
This is a great sounding delay, but what the heck Boss??? To change from let's say a quarter note delay to dotted eighth, you have to unplug the input, hold the pedal down after selecting a hidden mode and then power it back up! Who's going to do that in the middle of a set with a pedal velcro'd to a pedalboard???
Always choose Boss first
It's the usual Boss quality. Dependable. The short loop effect doesn't do much for me. I prefer the separate looper. The various style delays and ease of setting the length of delay is adding variation to my style.
Boss dd8
Bess pedal ever and only one truly needed. Pretty much give you all those other effect sounds. I love mine.
Works great
Bought this for my Husband that's in a band. He said he needed it for his pedal board so I don't know much about it but he loves it so Thank you!
it’s predecessor was a piece of plunder so, Nah,
A lot of stuff for a normal size boss pedal
I've been using my boss space echo for long delay/repeats for many years.
Decided to try the dd8 With a tap tempo switch.
It does what I need. Has a trails switch on back.
I like that the analog setting has more milliseconds than usual analog delays.
Compared to the space echo, the dd8 saves space and seems to be half the weight.
Current setup is DD8 for long delays/trails setting and I use the DM2W for short slap.
They the only two boss pedals I use.
Great little pedal.
From delays to reverb to chorus like effects, you can do a lot with this pedal!
Great product, loaded with options!
This delay has more options than you could ask for from a digital delay! Plus, you can never go wrong with Boss!
Solid choice for delay from Boss
This pedal does a lot and does all of it really well. I don't have the best amp platform to hear the nuance the DD8 can deliver, but it still sounds great.
Good quality made pedal
I love my new pedal sounds great
