D'Angelico Deluxe Mini DC Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar - Satin Trans Wine Reviews

Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar with Mahogany Top, Back, and Sides, Maple/Walnut Neck, Ebony Fingerboard, and 2 Single-coil Pickups - Satin Trans Wine

The Deluxe Mini DC has quickly emerged as a favorite semi-hollowbody guitar here at Sweetwater. Pick it up and plug it in for the first time, and you’ll see why! From a comfortably contoured body to musical pickups and an effortlessly playable neck, the Deluxe Mini DC sports some wicked cool features. What’s more, a mahogany top and body make a warm, punchy tonal base for the Seymour Duncan STK P-90 noiseless single-coil pickups. The smaller body weight makes this guitar perfect for traveling or those who want a more manageable gigging experience. Eye-catching appointments include the classic D’Angelico stairstep tailpiece, mother-of-pearl inlays, and an ebony fingerboard. Top it all off with a 3-way toggle plus volume and tone controls, and you’ve got a guitar capable of crisscrossing musical styles and rocking single-coil fire.

My honest review.

First of all, yes it's a lot of money to spend on a guitar made in Korea, however, this is really well built. The craftmanship and attention to detail is outstanding, the mahogany body, the binding, the neck, the rosewood fretboard, the gold hardware, it is a good looking guitar. It plays really well, it sounds great acoustically, you get a nice case, plus they include a set of strap locks, which is nice. I gave it a four star rating for two reasons. I do like the neck, it is comfortable to play chords, however it is heavier than the body, so expect neck dive, like an SG. This may or may not be an issue to you, but be aware of it. The neck P90 sounds great, it's warm and clear and sounds great with some gain. The bridge pickup however is a little weak and thin sounding, I've tried making several adjustments, including the pole pieces, but I still don't have it dialed in. I may have to consider replacing it if I can't get it right. For me this guitar, including taxes, cost $, a lot for a guitar that's not perfect. I can live with it being neck heavy, but considering with what I paid and not being thrilled with the bridge pickup, I'm a little disappointed. But not so much that won't keep it. I encourage anyone that is interested in one of these to check it out before you buy it, then that way you will know if it right for you.
