D'Angelico Excel DC Tour Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar - Solid Wine Reviews
D’Angelico’s Excel Tour series is purpose built to rule the road and the stage, offering a no-nonsense approach to D’Angelico style without compromising on tone or performance! Just like the Standard Excel DC, the Excel DC Tour electric guitar boasts a laminated semi-hollow maple body for an airy feel that adds a touch of definition to the dual Supro Bolt Bucker pickups’ natural warmth. On the other end, a 3-piece maple/walnut neck construction delivers truly road-ready reliability, while the ebony fingerboard’s medium-jumbo frets and 12-inch radius unlock effortless playability from the first fret to the 22nd. Lastly, while the D’Angelico Excel DC is a stripped-back 6-string, it’s still a stripped-back D’Angelico; gorgeous 3-ply neck binding, 5-ply body binding, and a tamer take on the standard D’Angelico art-deco headstock rein in the extravagance without sacrificing the brand’s iconic elegance.

One Sweet Semi-Hollow Body
Sweetwater had a demo for just $. I read and watched reviews on this guitar and they were nearly all excellent. I figured there's no way I could go wrong so I pulled the trigger. Wow!!! What a fantastic guitar!!! It arrived in perfect condition so I went through my checklist.
1) Fit and finish…perfect
2) frets and neck… perfect
3) pickups… couldn't ask for better. Sound was a perfect balance of sweet and punchy
4) playability… excellent. I prefer 9 gauge strings so I installed a set of my favorites (Stringjoy Orbiter 9s) couldn't ask for better playability!
If you are in the market for a good semi-hollow body guitar you owe to yourself to check this guitar out. It plays and sounds as good as my high end guitar and the price makes it a no brainer.
Kudos to Sweetwater and my rep Tylor McDonald. You just can't beat the sales and service at Sweetwater anywhere and Tylor is a fantastic rep who always checks to make sure I am very happy with all the gear that I've purchased.

Sweetwater has the best customer service around. Following my initial issues mentioned in my original review, I was able to speak with the Sweetwater technicians and get a solution to my problems. Guitar is playing great and is a real pleasure. I probably overreacted on my initial thoughts because the instrument was perfect on initial playing. Thanks again to my sales engineer, Joe, and the rest of the Sweetwater team!

Purchased for a holiday gift based off great sale price and online reviews. Seemed like this was a quality instrument from the reviews I had seen on the web. I was a little cautious due to the lack of knowing where the instrument is made. I received the instrument and it looks great and was happy to see the inspection card from Sweetwater, hoping that I could place faith in this and getting a great deal on a fun new guitar. Unfortunately, the guitar has so many buzzes and rattles when played. Seems the buzzing strings are coming from the bridge primarily, but also at certain frets. I've seen fixes for the bridge's buzzing screws using either candle wax or teflon tape. Perhaps this will correct the issues. Overall, just not real impressed with the instrument quality.
