MXR M237 DC Brick Power Supply
MXR M237 DC Brick Power Supply Reviews
The MXR DC Brick pedal power supply is the perfect way to power your midsize bass or guitar pedalboard. This simple and compact pedal power supply packs plentiful current for 10 of your favorite stompboxes, all without hogging your pedalboard. Eight 9V outputs and two additional 18V outs provides clean power to each of your bass or guitar pedals, without the sag and starvation you get with a budget system. There are even LEDs onboard the DC Brick, which warn you when there's a short on the line. And since it comes with all essential cabling, there are no unexpected surprises when you pick up an MXR DC Brick pedal power supply from Sweetwater.
perfect
Not much to say about a power supply. It does the job well, is a convenient size, no issues at all. LED is bright, but with it on the underside of my board it just makes a cool, mellow glow.
Excellent product
I had been using a 1Spot with multiplugs for a while until it crapped out. Thought I'd investigate power supplies and came upon the MXR on sale. It's tiny, fits under my pedal board and gives me all power I need AND some added noise suppression as well.
Couldn't be happier!!
Great Value
This is my second Brick purchase. Having used it on my gig pedalboard I decided to buy one for my practice setup as well. It is versatile and has a small footprint and comes with all of the dc connections. 2 of my pedals require 18 v and it can accommodate that. I appreciate Sweetwater's amazing service and my rep, Billy is incredibly attentive.
A must have
Great for a travel pedal board
Nice and quiet
Just what I needed powers my bass pedal board and my guitar effects in a quiet and useable manner
Great and handy piece of gear, tiny package!!
I absolutely love this piece of gear, it dies exactly what I wanted and had features that I didn't know were around, like I had been living under a rock
Just what I needed.
This power supply is great, and is small enough to fit on any board. My advice would be to mount it under your board, as the led light is as bright as a thousand suns.
Not isolated
Works ok. Its just a glorified daisy chain though. Mine is up for sale on Etsy
I replaced it with an iso brick
MXR Power Supply
Compact and reliable, does the job. It's not isolated, so it lf you have pedals that don't play well together, then I'd get the MXR power supply for hay is
Great Power Supply
I love this little power supply. It fits perfectly under the Pedaltrain Nano pedalboard. I have used these for a long time and I have always been able to rely on it at gigs. I love the fact that you have 2- 18volt outputs too if needed. Some of my Xotic and other brand Pedals like to use 18 Volts. It's a nice addition. 8-9volt outputs is pretty nice for such a small power supply. Get One!
All the power I need!
This thing is awesome, since it can power 8 different pedals at once and most importantly, I only need to use ONE plug to power everything!!
Working great. Pedals sound real good.
Had a issue with a boost/drive pedal. Boost side had some hum/buzz with wall power. Got this and no noise and all my pedals sound nice.No noise so far. Thanks Sweetwater again.
MXR Brick Power Supply
Very happy with this product. Arrived as described works quite well. With my pedalboard. Also was very glad that it came with all the cables.
Solid Build
I originally wanted the Iso brick mini but it was out of stock but a short, helpful phone call with Tylor at Sweetwater led me to order this as an alternative and as I'm using it mainly for recording so "venue power noise" is not an issue, so the DC brick works fine with no noise in this application. It powers my small board of 7 pedals with ease with room to add more if required. It is solidly built with a strong metal casing so feels like good quality, so durable and is small enough to fit underneath my board. Seems like a good bang for your buck power supply!
Killer Power Supply
Great power supply. Hefty and build like a tank, mounts very neatly underneath my Temple Audio DUO 17, has the right amount of outputs with more than enough current per output for probably any pedal - something I had an issue with from a different power supply from Donner, I believe.
This thing was a major upgrade, and I would absolutely recommend it for anyone setting up a pedalboard. Don't skimp on your power supply!
It does the job it’s supposed to do!
The only concern that I have is the power supply. As long as it lasts, it'll be a fantastic value.
A true Power BRICK
This thing is nifty. As someone who's added in a variety of pedals to my sound, I needed a good solution for all the juice that my board needed. This Power Brick did the trick, and has even offered me room to grow. Highly recommend for any pedal board. Easily assembled and intuitive. I don't think one can ask much more than that from electronics!
It does what it says!
It has more power outputs on it than some more expensive units! I bought my first one late last year & figured out I would eventually need atleast one more 9 volt output so I just ordered a second! It all worked out just fine for me!
Do it
I have 2 of these that I use together. I CURRENTLY have 5 gain pedals of different stages. Lol from special cranker to ds-1 and a Dracarys. I had a lot of noise and used gates and daisy chains that were supposed to be noiseless. This killed ALL the extra noise from them. It's not a nosie gate or anything, but if has isolated jacks. They mean everything. I highly recommend this.
MXR BRICK
Does what it's made to do flawlessly. The only thing better is Skyler @ Sweetwater! He's the best sales engineer & won't steer you wrong!
Works like magic
Provides power in a quiet, noise free fashion. Perfect for my relatively small rig.
Dead now
Started out great! Clean power and no noise. Warranty is 2 years. Went dead 2 years 2 months.
Easy setup
So far, so good.
Total Lifesaver!!!
Honestly the perfect power supply brick I've ever used. No added feedback, no diminished quality, convenient and easy to use. Saved me from packing an entire extension cable with 9V power cords.
OK, But there are MUCH better options...
I used the MXR DC Brick only once and promptly returned it due to the ground loop noise (my Poly Blue was the culprit). If you are using more than a couple pedals in your signal chain, you'd be well served by investing in a power supply with isolated outputs. If you need to stay with MXR you should look at the ISO Brick. If it's in your budget, I recommend springing for the Strymon Zuma. Yes, it's 3.5xs the cost of the DC Brick, but it's worth every penny due to the dual isolation, even power distribution, and expansion capabilities.
Perfect fit for the board
Does exactly what I need it to do
The Never ending pedal board.....
Started my 1st pedalboard, this year. Searched through a lot of power supplies and settled on the MXR. Since pedal boards are a never completed project, I should have opted for a larger unit with more outlets, as I'm maxxed out on power supply now. But thats the process. It would be nice if there was an on-off switch on this.
Super!
Works great. It's small and compact and comes with all the cords you need. Glad I got it.
Does the job easily
I was unhappy with a cheaper daisy-chain plug-in power source for my pedal board. The MXR fit the bill at price and function. Works perfectly and handles the pedals effortlessly.
MXR DC Brick review
I run a doom style setup for my bass and hhave a lot of pedals that I like to use. Using this has cleaned my pedal board up massively. I would recommend this if you have a good amount of pedals, but dont want to spend a fortune and clean up your pedal board.
Great budget power supply
Works great, small footprint, and no noise so far.
Small and mighty
I love this thing. The MXD DC block is smaller then most DC block which means it talked up less room in you PB and with 8 9v and 2 18v outputs you can't go wrong. Plus affordable.
I Was Surprised Honestly!!!
I bought this for an emergency replacement since my VoodooLabs Pedal Power 2 Plus broke down and I was sending it back for warranty coverage. (at least props to them for that) So I needed something cheap and will power the number of pedals I have I saw this one and crossed my fingers and bought it. I'm glad i did it is so much smaller then you think from the pictures, it has enough power absolutely no problems there. PLUS MOST IMPORTANTLY it is quiet. which is what i was convinced only "expensive" power supplies could do that. But Nope!!! at least for me in my experience!!! I actually haven't even sent my other pedal from the other company back yet for a new replacement for free. I haven't needed it so i haven't even thought about needing the other one at all lol
Dc Brick
Terrible power source. Shorted out my RC-1 Looper. Would not power it on.
Good small power supply
Small, quiet and versatile. I like the 18v outputs. rare to see. Wish there was a 12v for the H9, but it's fine. Cheap easy and quiet.
Great Design, Well Built.
Does exactly what it's supposed to do, and does it well.
Very nice, sleek design that is well built.
Awesome results
I'm currently using 7 different effect pedals and my rid had a BAD case of annoying buzz and hum... Bought this hoping it would help.... and it did....big time. Best investment in gear in a while. Unless you enjoy all that extra amp noise get this.
Perfect power supply
I replaced my Mondo with this DC brick.Due to some line noise.Problem solved!Lightning quick delivery.Sweetwater staff ALWAYS a pleasure..& Tiberius Huiu is the man
Good at what it does but NOT isolated outputs just in case anyone is looking for that.
Good at what it does but those buying this thinking isolated outputs this one does not.
Gets the job done
I like how it has plenty of outputs, including two 18 volt outputs. It's a workhorse! and very affordable! which meant a lot to me when I bought it. I've had it for a few years and still works as good as it did from day one.
The only thing about it that troubles me is that some of my pedals don't like it and so with that I'm out on this one.
Great product
The brick is perfectly capable of powering everything you'll need on your board, great buy
Nice design
This brick is compact and sturdy with a aluminum housing . It fit nicely under my pedalboard and It also has a 18volt outlet .
I am sure it will be reliable as I have confidence I'm MXR .
WHOA!
10 outputs? 18v outputs!?
Don't let the the old-school gearheads--you know, the ones who can tell the difference between a paper-in-oil and a poly cap (news flash: they can't. Fight me) tell you otherwise. This is the KILLINIST power supply for the buck.
Most pedals floating around today are tru-bypass, hard-pass, or buffered.
Unless youre rockin' vintage fuzzes and such this $80 power supply is what's it! No noise, idependent (not isolated--again doesn't matter), tons of options, and sturdy enough to cram under your board like it is a package you don't want the po-po's to find.
10/10 WORTH IT.
mxr BRICK
i MOUNTED IT UNDER MY PEDALBOARD NO NOISE NO COMPLAIN
Just right
Powering a small pedal train metro with three pedals.
The low profile of the MXR sits comfortably under the small board but you lose a side of supply.
No complaints so far.
MXR DC Brick power supply
This is a great product for the price I have mine zip tied under my Temple Audio Templeboard and it works like advertised and you wouldn't know it's there it's a great compact power supply for a fraction of the cost of some other pedal board power supplies on the market highly recommend MXR makes some great pedals this DC brick is no exception
Power plus
I built my new pedal board and installed this little jewel under the board that holds the pedals. It is very quiet and seems to have plenty of power to run what I have. All in all a good value.
Sweetwater in general
I have reviewed many products obtained from and the service I receive from Sweetwater several times before and i continue to say that almost all of my guitar gear and guitars have come from Sweetwater for a couple of reasons. First of all, I am a beginner at 75 year old and never even paid attention to music or played an instrument before. Cameron Ferguson has been instrumental in helping me with everything and I am very pleased with everything I have bought from Sweetwater. I do not think I would have stayed with working on my bass learning, which I started a little over a year ago, if it hadn't been for Cameron's concern for me. Thank you very much for having Cameron just for me.
DC Brick
Nice and small unit that powers my medium board. Only have had it for two weeks but it quiet and does what it needs to do. Would highly recommend
Compact, powerful, just works
Fit right underneath my Pedaltrain board (the smallest one!). Plug and play it just works and has worked wonderfully since I bought it. Plenty of cables come with the unit initially, and it looks pretty cool to boot.
Perfect mini pedalboard power
Great item. I have used one for a year and love it so had to get another. Small size fits under a pedaltrain nano perfectly. I love the 18 volt outputs, great to use with some pedals that work on dual voltages. Great Sweetwater support as usual..thanks Mike
MXR DC Brick Power Supply
Reworking my pedal board and bought as an addition to the old one I already have to power additional pedals on my expanding board. I have them chained together with one feeding power to the other and they work great! Power up all my pedals and have power for a few more. Very quiet and working great!
It does what it’s intended for
I haven't used any power supply bricks before, having said that,
This little thing does what it supposed to do and have no complaints so far. Sturdy, well built and feels like it will withstand anything you throw at it. Overall I'm glad i bought this brick as my first choice.
Finally no more batteries or single power units
So far, I'm happy. Waited to long for such an easy remedy. Lucky for me my guy at my music store will buy back my snarks!!!
DC Brick is AWESOME and so is SWEETWATER!
No more batteries and no more surprises. Great power. Comes with the cables you need. It is awesome! Customer service is the best at Sweetwater and I will always order from them!
Awesome compact power supply
I don't use a ton of pedals so finding a smaller power supply with the options I wanted was a little difficult. When I saw the MXR brick I bought it immediately. Considering size, inputs, and price you really cant find a better supply. I've been building my own pedals, and since the brick is so small it's great to have on my bench while troubleshooting and testing new circuits.
High Pitched Noise
Be careful, this is a warning, this power supply is noisy, it only supplies clean power, not isolated power, that means with more than one pedal there will be a high pitched noise, this is too loud for me, it effects recording
MXR DC power supply
Good effects power source, compact for pedalboard. Working on finishing up my DIY powerboard
Perfect!
The best complement to my custom pedalboard
A serial power brick!!!
I bought this due to my faith in MXR pedals. Who better to understand powering pedals. But after getting horrible noise on my chain I discovered this is not isolated power! So now I seek a replacement and it will not be MXR's isolated brick.
Unwanted noise.
Most of my pedals are MXR and they're great. However, this power brick does NOT have isolated power going to your pedals which makes unwanted noise. This is one of those times where it is better to spend more so you save more. I later bought the spot CS12 and it works great. I'm sure the ISO brick works great too.
Great product
My friend has one of these and highly recommended it, I purchased one for myself and am extremely pleased. I used this to get rid of my daisy chain wiring and clean up my pedal board. I don't notice a hum like some reviews mentioned and couldn't be happier with this power supply.
Clean Power
I replaced a daisy chain that was using a Boss power supply. The MXR is just as quiet but makes my pedalboard more organized. It won't power my Strymon Iridium without some noise, but neither would the Boss. I don't fault the MXR at all. The Iridium just requires its own 500 MA power supply. Anyway, I love this little compact MXR. It powers eight 9volt pedals and two 18volt. That's plenty for my medium size pedalboard. Clean power and a good value for $...
I run 2 of these
100% awesome.
Great value and flexibility
Does the job and great customer service
I appreciate the great customer service. Sweetwater team really knows the products it sells. The power brick does its job and came as advertised. Very pleased.
DC Brick is AWSOME!
This took all my power supply issues away! I got tired of daisy chaining everything on my pedalboard together just to find out that the last thing I plug in is just the thing that is too much. This doesn't happen any more......So Happy
Mxr power block
First time ordering from Sweetwater and it was a very pleasant experience. I placed my order and it was delivered in a very quick time, no issues at all. I will definitely be ordering more from Sweetwater \m/
Just perfect
Just what I needed and wanted. Also cake with a cool stickers lol
Great product!
This thing is great. It does exactly what I need it to do. Highly recommend.
My second one
I love this product. This is the second MXR DC Brick I bought to run in a chain on my board. It's reliable, quiet, powerful, and affordable.
Exactly What I Didn't Know I Needed
From the brushed steel finish to the bright power indicators, this 8x9v + 2x18v power supply is definitely worth the purchase. Would buy again (as if I even need to).
It works but that humming ...
Ok so i bought this and it powers all my pedals all 10 no problem but it creates this dreaded hum and buzz if all of your pedals are not true bypass.since im always mix and matching pedals it does not work for what i need it.you are better off saving some extra $ and buying the Iso brick
Good power supply
Works as intended and a nice, small profile with still a decent amount of ports for a small/medium sized pedalboard.
Does its job!
Not sure what else to say. My pedalboard is growing, so the power brick became a necessity. It gives me both 9v and 18v options. Very handy tool! Thanks to Sweetwater I didn't wait long! Got to me sooner than expected. Highly recommended!
Dc brick
It works great. If u have a good power supply there is no reason to spend the extra money for the iso in my opinion. This powers all of my pedals perfectly. Great buy.
Perfect
Compact and simple to use.
mxr dc brick
really love this power supply ...didn't think it was going to work as well as it does...totally satisfied...
MXR DC Power Brick
This lil guy is perfect! I"m impressed with it"s small profile, amount of cables & output.... takes up minimal space, I would & have recomended this to friends!
no noise
I finally got one of these to go with my MXR pedals and my rig sounds so much better. There is no noise with the designed power outputs. Just unbox the brick and hook it up, everything is included..it looks good also so I just kept it on top of my pedal train with my pedals....If you have a few pedals , you cant go wrong with this. buy it...………………..
Clean & Well-built
I was very surprised at how clean of a power source this was for $... It is also beautifully made. I have no problems with it at all.
MXR DC Brick
I should have bought this years ago.I might need another and it has made it so much easier.Don"t need to change batteries anymore.
Haven"t used it outside my house yet and I"m sure it will be fine .
Great little power block
Works great. Got 2 on my board.
Powers most pedals.
power cable gave up after 3 months
the brick worked great, used it to power 8 pedals on a pedaltrain board. Unfortunately, have had issues with the power cable from the wall wart to the brick. the connection at the end has split the plastic sheath, and the connection is flaky. Such that I can't reliably get power to the brick, so need to find a replacement wall wart/cable. I'm so upset that I am thinking of switching to a voodoo labs version just because it doesn't use a wall wart at all.
amazing power supply!
I have two of these, which still isn't enough for my large board. haha, but they work great! no noise or hum whatsoever! very easy setup. powers everything you plug in to it!
Great size and "the little things matter."
I needed to power 8 various effects pedals, including a Radial Direct Drive amp simulator. I also wanted one small enough to mount both the brick, and the power adapter, to the underside of the pedal board. (Sometimes power adapters are HUGE.) The MXR Brick is small, and so is the power adapter. The supplied cables are long enough and the connections fit snug. My only suggestion to the manufacturer is, make half the cables with right angle plugs on " both" ends for those tight fitting areas. As always, My Sweetwater rep, Patrick, took excellent care of me.
Little brick, big kick
Nice piece of hardware to power your pedals. Has enough ports to power your most important pedals. For some reason, does not like my Pigtronix Disnortion, which initially renders the brick useless but after reconnecting that particular pedal, works great. Takes up very little space. Great value.
Solid Power Supply
Good solid power supply that cleaned up all my power cord tangles. The 9 volt and 18 volt outputs are great for use with different pedals. Comes with everything you need.
DC Brick
Awesome power supply. Small footprint. Couldn"t be happier
Outstanding!
Easy to set up and use!
MXR dc Brick power supply
Great power supply for the $ and small enough to be on pedal board or tucked away. Very satisfied
keep it in the studio
I am a fan of MXR products. However the DC Brick was a huge let-down! I LOVE the 8 inputs in such a compact design, but it's just not durable. At least, not tour durable. I had it on my pedal board & it went maybe 6 or 7 shows before it started giving my problems. Mostly notably that the power cables would vibrate out. I ended up having to tape the main power cable and a few that went to pedals to the brick so they would stay in. Not the end of the world, but not exactly convenient either. Before you ask, I did swap out numerous cables to see if that would rectify the issue. No such luck.
This would more than likely be great for a studio scenario or maybe light gigging, but I just don't feel it's road worthy.
MXR power brick
Glad I made this purchase and got away from the wall warts! This thing even did away with my signal noise. I've used it twice at gigs at this point, no noise and it seems to improve the overall tone as well with a stronger signal. The only thing it doesn't do is power a vintage peavey max 100 -- when in the pedal chain but overall it does the job great for all of the other standard boxes.
Great Product!
I've always been a pedal guy. Recently my board had grown to 11 pedals. I was using an 18 volt wall wart and 2 One Spots, They are good products, but once I got this in it really cleaned up some noise. Easy to use and takes up very little space. Should have purchased sooner!
Thanks Danielle for always doing a top notch job!
Check your inputs
This is a fantastic unit. I unfortunately did not check the connectors that are included with it before I bought it. They are all the female type. They need to put that in the product description. If you have older pedals, like I do, you will need the 3.5mm converters with a positive tip that Sweetwater sells.
Works amazingly!
I got this a while back and have failed to write a review. This is an amazing unit, small and compact and easily powers all my pedals, and it is small enough if I need another one, because I am over indulging with my pedals, I could run two with no issue! I originally decided on getting this as I have two Catalinbread analog delays that sound amazing at 9v but even better at 18v. Right now I don't have anything that isn't powered off of this thing!!!
No more batteries
Love it, I should have done this years ago, No more batteries. I would highly recomend this product.
Brick Good
Cuts down on large number of plugs for pedals .
Smash pedalboard clutter with the DC Brick !
I used to have an adapter for every pedal I had running along a power strip. Don't be like me, the first Dunlop/MXR pedal you buy just buy this thing. Extremely easy to use, compact, and just pop open your board and plug the adapter into the wall and bang you're ready to go.
It just works
Bought this thing a year ago and it is awesome! I have seven pedals and it powers everything as it should and unlike alot of other power supplies it has the two 18volt lines which is ideal for my setup. For the price it wins hands down. Buy it.
Worth every penny
I'd been reluctant to spend a lot of cash for a fancy power supply.. but this unit does such a nice job of eliminating hum, hisses and pops like you get from the One Spot.. This unit also provides more outlets than the PP2.. I needed 2 x 18v.. and this unit delivered, for $60 less!!!
