it suits the requirements I need and if I decide I need two more pedals I'll still be set... I've got two variable outputs available which is really nice.
Game Changer!
This thing not only got rid off the annoying hum I was hearing when I was running all my pedals on a daisy chain, but the signal sounds so much clearer! I even had to turn down the levels on my pedals because I no longer had to crank them now that the signal isn't muddied. Added bonus that is an aesthetically pleasing little guy, love the blue lights and sleek design. Only complaint is I wish the power supply cable it came with was a little longer. But yeah awesome product especially for the price!
Shhh! You Hear That? Me Neither!
I am fairly new to pedals and accepted the hum and hiss as a given and thus, never really enjoyed the experience. After using an isolated power supply, the difference is like night and day! It costs a bit more to snag one of these but honestly, I am disappointed that I didn't get on a whole lot sooner. It comes with 2 18v outlets and the 6 9v and 2 variable ones that can be set between 6-18v. In the words of Ferris Bueller - 'It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."
Great addition to my pedal board!
This little box is great. Took my crazy cord runs and cut them in half, at least. Worked great out fo the box, was easy to set up, and is functioning very well. Great workhorse and it keeps me from worrying about what got unplugged!!
Affordable/Versatile/Quiet
Added this to pedalbaord based on its price, versatile power output, and number of power outputs. It definitely delivers. Would happily recommend to anyone with a moderately sized pedalboard.
The noise cancelling is amazing!
My house is off the grid and runs on solar and the power inverter is very noisy. Way beyond the common 60 cycle hum. This power supply did away with all the noise. It's great. I couldn't recommend it more. I'd give it six stars if I could. If you ever have to play with backup power from a no-break, rest assured, you'll play with no hum.
I also love the multiple voltage outputs and those two variable voltage outputs are great for fuzz. Allows me to adjust the voltage up and down to get great tone. Love it!
Side note. As others have mentioned, the white power indicator light is very very very bright. I guess it's meant to serve as a visible indicator when the power supply is under the pedalboard. But when placed on top of simple pedalboard it's just like a sun staring up at you. Nothing that can't be solved with a bit of tape though. Or an EQ as I did. ;) Fits just right over the power supply, kills the light and saves lots of space.
Solved my problem instantly.
My pedalboard is "old-school," with serial connections. I was having weird noise problems primarily from my BOSS TU-3 tuner (See photo of entire board) and BOSS CE-5 Chorus. I use the 2 OD pedals sparingly for low gain situations into my clean channel. Mostly I'm running into a high gain channel of Mesa Recto-Verb 50 or EVH LBX-S with the OD pedals not engaged. Switching out my prior power supply to the MXR iso-brick solved my problems instantly. The flanger requires 18V, and this actually has 2x18V ports. The build feels rock solid. Obviously plays really well with the MXR pedals.
Fantastic
I have two of these on my pedalboard - one on my signal chain and one on my effects loop. Never an issue.
MXR ISO BRICK works well
I don't write very many reviews, I actually don't write much at all in general so, this will be short. This is powering 7 pedals on my pedalboard, it has a wide range of options. It's quiet and it doesn't take up very much space. Cory Konyshak has been my Sales Engineer for a couple of purchases and has been great at letting me know the status of my order and helping me deciding on what equipment is best for my setup.
Perfect addition to pedal tray!
I ordered the MXR Iso-Brick after doing some research online. It looks very well made and I've had no issues with it. The packaging was very impressive and well organized. It's installed on a pedal tray mounted on a slide out rack tray in a studio rack. It has two adjustable pots which let you change the load on two pedals. I haven't used these but will probably at some point if needed. I think the price point is excellent when compared to other products also. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase!!
Great pedal power supply
Plenty of ports with a range of amperage and each one isolated. If I were to state only one minor point, and this is because I have it mounted on top of the pedalboard with the pedals, is the operating light. BRIGHT WHITE, almost a spot light in itself. Easy fix with some gaffer tape...
Completely Silent Power Supply
My old power supply gave me noise issues and buzzing all the time. This power supply is completely silent and has plenty of output spots and options.
Awesome Tool
Why would anyone want batteries when one could use this pedal it takes away the thought of losing a battery,,I think if you intend on building a pedalboard this pedal should be a part of your system ,,Oh yeah this is going on my third pedal train
Excellent For Home Use
This is a pretty awesome device. Really easy to set up and super efficient in the small space I have. Powers up my 8 stomps and 2 wah pedals with no issue.
Thanks to Nick for following up with me and thanks Sweetwater for the fast shipping!
ISO Brick
Extremely simple to figure out. Kinda new to the pedal game glad to have found a solid power supply. And as always Sweetwater is an awesome company to deal with, honestly probably the best.
Awesome product
This is my first time buying a power supply like this for my pedals as it has become a must-have tool. Works great and has all the features I could ever want. I also love having the ability to control the voltage on two of the outputs. Way cool!
Fixed!
I have an EHX Canyon and a Klon copy with some other analog pedals. I had these on a power supply daisy chain and that was making the digital Canyon freak out. After I put all the pedals on Isolated power, not only did that fix the issue but it also got rid of a lot of noise I was having and I was able to dial back some power going to the Klon clone and the tone is way warmer and smoother. 10/10 would recommend. Shoutout to my sales engineer, Mason for following up with me. Good guy.
Excellent product
Works great. Very easy to use and meets expectations.
The Sound of Silence
Tyler, thanks SO much! I finally tried out my ISO brick yesterday and now my fx pedals are completely silent, I was amazed, it was so nice. I was like, "Why didn't I do this sooner!"
Thanks again,
John
The MXR Iso-Brick Power Supply
This Iso-Brick Power Supply and its wiring adapter cables made it so easy to change my daisy-chain power feeds to isolated single-source feeds from a single multi-output main power supply. I especially like that there are two variable supplies which I can use at a later date to experiment with the Germanium Fuzz I have. It is reported by some guitarists that if you lower the voltage on these fuzz units, the characteristic sound of its fuzz can become even better. I will have to experiment. My pedal board thanks you all at Sweetwater.
MXR iso brick
Nice product, used it to complete my new peadl board, keeps things nice and neat and noise free. As always, another quality product from MXR, love their gear!
Great power supply!
Needed at least five isolated outs for my board. Lots of voltage options. I am amazed how quiet my rig is now and the Wampler Pinnacle deluxe at 18 volts is amazing! Very impressed by this unit plus it looks cool!
Solid as a brick
Clean, noise-free power. I like it so far. No complaints!
Great Product!
Just received this today, out of the box it worked perfectly! Love all the different variable outputs, works great for all my pedals. Does what it says, noiseless isolated power. No more of that annoying buzz/tone from the direct power from the wall! This power supply is also a looker, between the lights and the sleek MXR design, I refuse to put this under my board. I'll make sure to have an MXR Iso-Brick on every pedalboard I ever have!
*****
Second iso-brick I"ve bough. Works perfectly and looks so sano going it. Variable voltage outputs...I really love this think. It was too pretty too put under the board...The volume pedal"s next to the board now.
Power to the Pedal, baby.
I bought this power supply last year and mounted it to my pedal board. It has been on several road trips and live performances and has performed flawlessly. It powers my strymon high current timeline and bluesky perfectly along with the rest of my pedals: OCD, Timmy, TS mini, Korg tuner, subnup, boss rv6, and mxr chorus. Run the OCD at the 18v option the brick provides and man did that pedal come alive. If I get in need for more power, then I would definitely buy another one of these hands down.
Really Good Power Supply
This power supply is great! Each individual output is isolated so it's super quiet. It has different power ratings as well so it will even give juice to your power hungry pedals with ease. It fits under my temple audio board but just barely. It's a really tight fit but that's okay because I know it won't be going anywhere. This power supply is all around really good and is worth the money. The most bang for your buck. Super satisfied with it. As always, sweetwater always delivers with killer customer service. Thanks for all of your help Pat!
Perfect!
The iso brick fit nicely under my pedal board and powered both my Strymon pedals demanding high current! Plus had enough of outlets to power my other pedals too! I'm very happy!
Update to Diggin' the Iso-Brick
After having the MXR Iso-Brick on my board for a few months, gigging and rehearsing with it, and playing around with the sag outputs (which work well, although they could improved with knobs that click into place instead of the smooth dialing design; turning one a little beyond the 9V line (poorly marked) and one could easily wreck a standard pedal), I'm writing this as a quick update to my original review of 4.5 stars. This product deserves 5 stars! The thing is dead quiet, small, and flexible. It powers each pedal on board with ease and doesn't affect my tone.
Works Perfectly
Totally quiet - even on compressors, overdrive, pedals, and my usually very noisy Fulltone Fatboost Pedal. Quieter than the wallwarts that come with the pedals. Very pleased. I recommend and would buy again.
Love the size and flexibility
I was not totally sure when I ordered this how well it would fit. I have a Holeyboard pedalboard, and needed something to fit under the riser. Other possible power supplies cost more and were bulky. When I got it, I was quite pleasantly surprised at the small size. I could easily fit another if I wanted. I love the various slots available. I'm now one volume pedal away from using them all (the 18V works good for an MXR EQ pedal and that soon to have volume pedal). Definitely seemed to make things more quiet than the OneSpot I was using before. Haven't needed the LEDs to troubleshoot a problem yet, but they are nice and bright and that would make it very easy to find a plug that had come undone, so feel comfortable having it. Although I haven't lowered the voltage on the variable slots to check out that drain sound yet, I plan to and it's nice to have that option. In all, great features in a small convenient package. Can't ask for more for the price.
I love it
It is everything it claims to be. This saves caring a lot of transducer adapter plug ins and having to match them up the the individual pedals and preamps. The MXR M238 Iso Brick Isolated Power Supply cuts my setup time and looks neater with short chords to the pedals and preamps. There are some variable slots for anything that is not standard 9 volt.
There are so many products that are hyped by the manufacture of that product. The MXR iso brick is everything they said it would be. My kit is never going to be without one.
Small and gets the job done
Fits on the board and powers all eight pedals. It's great if I had to change anything it would be the white light on the top it is very bright and a little distracting.
Thumbs up
This device is small and works well as advertised. I chose this one because of it's smallness and affordable price.
Clearer more defined pedal sound
I was using a daisy chain with a 9V power supply for my 6 pedals and couldn't dial in the sounds of the pedals compared to when I used them individually with the 9v cord. Wow. This is a huge difference! The pedals sound how they were meant to with isolated power and it fits nicely on a small pedal board and has all you'll need for up to 10 pedals. Totally worth it.
Compact, Powers Most of my Rig
Very compact power supply with 10 isolated outputs. The actual size of it is smaller than the average pedal which is a plus if this is going to take up space on the top of your pedalboard. Most of my pedalboard runs on nine volts, and it has six fixed 9V outputs with two variable-voltage outputs. The variable-voltage outputs might be useful to some, but I invariably utilize them at 9V.
My one complaint is that the knobs to control the voltage do not latch to intervals as you adjust it which makes it feel inprecise. I haven't had any problems due to this. Any pedal I've plugged into these outputs works fine; I just prefer when the potential for human error (me) is left out of the equation. It also has two 18V outputs for which you can use 18V-to-9V converters (bought separately) if you need the additional 9V outputs.
It's Good for me!
I reluctantly replaced my VooDoo Labs with The Iso Brick because of the 10 outputs. My only issue with my VooDoo Labs was that it only had 8 outputs and no 18v. I Had Wall-Warts tie strapped to the bottom of my pedalboard because I needed additional power.
With The MXR Iso Brick I have all the outputs and power options I need, and It has cleaned up my pedalboard nicely.
It would be nice if it wasn't powered with a Wall Wart and the wiring was a bit sturdier.
Works Like a Charm
This is a great power supply unit in a durable, attractive enclosure. For me, 10 outputs is the perfect amount and the two 18v outputs are great if you have a couple of Fulltone pedals or clean boosts on your board.
Voodoo Who?
I have been playing guitar since the 70's. I a appreciate tone and not much is worse that noisy power. I've used a Voodoo Labs power supply since they came out. I've always appreciated the value in an isolated power supply. I thought that my Pedal Power 2 was starting to go since one of the outputs wasn't working so I bought this. I figure I would save a few bucks and use it until my Voodoo was repaired. I put it on the board and plugged it in not knowing what to expect from a cheaper supply. No difference... at least no appreciable difference. I figured out what was wrong with the Voodoo and left the ISO Brick on the board. It offers one more 9v output that the PP2 as well. So, for those of you in a similar situation I would recommend this as an alternative. I have only had it a month or two so I can't attest to the durability like I can the PP2. I prefer the IEC cord of the PP2 as well over the external transformer of the ISO Brick, but for the money it's not a factor. Hope this helps... happy pedal stomping!
Unbelievable
This little power box will totally change the tone of your petals for the good… All those wonderful things that you read about with your petals and then you plug them in to a cheap power source or use a 9v battery will not give you that pedals full potential… The MXR iso Brick will ... also, the service and delivery time from Sweetwater is impeccable… I have purchased several things over the years including and American made fender Stratocaster standard… The packaging was excellent to guitar was set up and ready to play right out of the box… I purchased A Fender deluxe reverb amp point-to-point and wired beautiful piece of equipment… Turned out one of The tube sockets had a cold solder… I suspected that but did not want to void my warranty… Sweetwater sent me everything needed to return the amp at no charge… The amp was returned back to me within a week at no charge biased properly and working wonderfully… I do not and will not ever hesitate to purchase from Sweetwater… Ryan has been my guy and has always laid out the red carpet for me… Sweetwater and it's staff rocks…

Great Power source
I recently had a Christian music gig outside of church. Many of the songs need some effect or another. Needed a good power supply, one that wouldn't surge when running a high number of pedals. The MXR fit the need, and did so extremely well. The added LED's let the guitarist know that everything is powered. The brick acts like a distribution center, making it easy to keep power cabling neatly organized whether on a pedal board, or free-standing pedals. The two adjustable channels are a nice feature if you're running effects requiring higher voltage. The unit is well finished, just as one would expect from MXR.
Great value
Been waiting for this unit for awhile. Robert called and told me ready to go and it was here in three days. Just wired up the new pedal board(I build my own from scratch) mounted all the pedals and......no sound. Looked underneath at the iso-brick and bingo!.... one of the LED's indicated the problem culprit. Saved me a lot of time trouble shooting. In addition, powers more pedals at a lower price point. Great value! Well worth the wait.
Mxr iso brick m238
I replaced a non-isolated power supply with the mxr iso brick about one month ago. I also have not heard a loud pop noise from my amplifier, since using mxr iso brick. I like how iso brick has the advertised clean power, low noise for your effects pedals and overall quality including the 18 V adapter. Thanks to Tyler Moore at sweetwater for recommending this solution. I took a star off rating as it is imported and not made in the North America area.
This does the job
Better than their power brick
White LED Too Bright
Great unit in all, bit expensive and Wow that white lite sure is bright on the eyes!
good n solid!
I play three times a week at church,so I don't have a lot of time to play that much with my equipment, set up n go, so far that is what is doing, good n solid !
Terrific power supply
I'm very happy with this product. It supplies the power and keeps my pedal board nice and clean.
make your life easier
pedal board power supply units have never blown my hair back, however this little guy is more that I need. No noise, power tapper and bright led . can't go wrong with this buy.
Diggin' the Iso-Brick
First and foremost, Sweetwater's 2 year warranty is unmatched, the free 2 day shipping is practically unheard off, tech support is excellent, and Ryan Murray, my sales engineer, was super helpful and honest.
The MXR Iso-Brick is the only power supply I've ever owned aside from a 9V daisy chain and those provided with the purchase of an effects pedal. I'm currently using it to power my small board of effects for live electric bass (signal chain for reference: Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray5 --> Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive --> Strymon El Capistan dTape Echo --> Source Audio Lunar Phaser --> ZVex Insant Lofi Junky --> TC Electronic Ditto Looper --> amp). So far, I'm pretty impressed with the product. A basic pro/con list follows:
PROS:
-small (fits easily on top of my Pedaltrain Mini and between its rails on the bottom; however, I'd need to modify the Pedaltrain Mini if I wanted to mount the Iso-Brick underneath to make room for all of the power cables.)
-compact and lightweight (yet feels very durable thanks to its metal housing -- aluminum?)
-doesn't seem to get hot (I'll test this on a gig soon.)
-flexible power options
-product includes 10 male-to-male DC cables, half of each right-angled, and an AC adapter that has interchangeable outlets (a classy touch)
CONS:
-I can't say that this has eliminated all hum from my signal, but I haven't done complete and thorough testing to determine the root of the issue; however, the Iso-Brick SIGNIFICANTLY reduced unwanted hum to which I was accustomed. The Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive is inherently noisy (like many "cheaper" overdrive pedals), and I feel it may be causing the small hum. The hum is really only audible to the untrained ear when I crank the treble knob of my Stingray5.
-variable outputs have small knobs that select voltage, which would be strengthened if they clicked into place (i.e. at 9V, 12V, etc.) for precise adjustment (I've yet to test the variable outputs for their exact voltage at each tick mark around the knobs, but I'll update this review soon); I can imagine a user mistakenly providing a pedal with too much power.
-AC adapter's wall wart is large
-AC adapter's cable and included DC cables are certainly thin (I've read reviews wherein people complain about the "flimsiness" about the cables, but honestly, your dollar goes a long way with product, and I find this to be excusable).
-AD adapter's cable is short (about 4-5 feet; I've not measured it.)
I hope this review helps you decide on a power supply purchase. I'll update my post after completing testing, which could boost my 4 star reading to something higher depending on the outcome).
Great Unit
I purchased this to replace a Pedal Power 2 that didn't have enough outlets - was also less expensive. 2 18v ports as well as 2 variable 6v-15v 250ma ports makes this a versatile unit. All power is isolated so I'm not getting any hum or digital noise that I was getting from daisy chaining with a 1 Spot or similar AC adapter. I purchased a second one to power a smaller board as well.
Good value, but
Pros: Versatile dc output options, small form factor, all aluminum casing
Cons: No on/off switch, wall-wart power supply with relatively short cable. Not easy to integrate with my board due to the wall-wart, still trying to figure out a convenient way to manage the power supply connection. Adjustable voltage pots a little too easy to dial, flush mounted micro pots would have been smarter.
Good power supply but needs improvements
I was a long time voodoo labs user. But when I decided to put together a new board. I decided to try something different. It is quiet and has plenty of power options. With a few improvements it would get a 5 star rating.
First off the cable for the Wall wart is flimsy and I do not see it lasting long.
Second where is plugs into the power supply isn't very secure. Mine keeps coming unplugged. I had to put tape over it to hold it in.
The last and most important is on some of the output voltages. On the adjustable outputs The dial is not marked true. On mine where it says it should be 9 volts is actually a little over 9.5 volts.
The 18v outputs actually puts out just a little more than 18v.
All in all it does serve its purpose. But I plan on replacing it as soon as I am able to. With something a little more sturdy.
Has its pros and cons
I purchased this brand new and had high hopes for it. It actually gave me more noise than 2 daisy chains did, and when I put my hand on the power supply it would make different glitchy sounds. Then when I took my hand off , the original loud annoying buzz can back. My guitar store guy warned me, but I didnt listen. So i went back and got the voodoo labs PP2 and all noise was completely gone. I can honestly say that it may depend on what youre teying to do, but for a basic professional grade power supply, id go voodoo labs hands down.
Great but overpriced
Great power supply with a lot of outputs and a lot of amperage. Before I got this one I had a homemade one that worked as good ( with a noise filter too) built into a aluminum box from radio shack and ten outputs and it cost me about $30 to build. Someone stole it so I had to replace it. Great replacement but not worth what they get for it.
MXR ISO Brick pedal Board Supply
I am a professional musician and I need equipment I can count on. When I got the ISO Brick out of the box, the first thing I noticed is how thin the cable that is attached to the adaptor and thought "Why in the world would you engineer an excellent power supply with a power adaptor that won't/can't last?"
It lasted about a month before the cable was severed. And this is with being very gentle with it as I am with all my gear. How could such an oversight occur? I just couldn't believe they would actually use cable this thin. So now I get to hassle with trying to get this one replaced
This is definitely my last MXR Power Supply as it is NOT A PROFESSIONAL LEVEL product and should be avoided.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY
For almost $ this brick only lasted 2 years so it is a hard pass from me. I wasted my money thinking this was an upgrade.
Does work with strymon
Said it had the power requirements the strymon timeline and bigsky needed. Plugged only them in and they sounded like they were lacking processing power and as if they didn't have enough power.
The sound was brittle and the effects couldn't do their thing. More like distorted version of the effects. Not the clarity strymon is known for. I then plugged in their original power supplies and that really bad sound didn't go away.
Took about an hour for them to cool off until they sounded normal again. I had thought they were broken. Now sometimes they do that in the beginning and get better but mostly back to where they were. I refuse to ever plug them into anything other than voodoo labs power supplies that strymon recommends. That was scary!
As for it working with other pedals, I am sure it works fine, just figured anyone looking for high output like with Eventide, strymon and so on maybe want to just spend the extra money on the voodoo lab!
