Changed Our Sound
I have been using a powered mixer for years on country/classic rock gigs. I was never thrilled with what I was hearing but it's just for fun and it's a hobby after all. Well… I finally got some realistic feedback from some audience members that told me it was time for something different. I spent a few weeks comparing specs on various powered speakers in the $ range. Finally I pulled the lever on a pair of Yamaha DBR12's. I am completely happy with the sound quality and the simplicity of operation. I didn't want to learn all kinds of keystrokes and codes. I just wanted to plug and play. If you're looking to upgrade easily this is the way to go. I'm using a Mackie ProFX12v3 mixer (also from Sweetwater) and at the last two gigs (the first with the new system) our audience noticed the difference. I do wish there was a top handle on the cabinets, but I'll live with it. Bart Amburn at Sweetwater was very helpful as always and I finally took advantage of the Sweetwater payment plan. It was super easy.
