Martin D-41 Acoustic Guitar - Natural Reviews

6-string Acoustic Guitar with Spruce Top, Rosewood Back and Sides, Mahogany Neck, and Ebony Fingerboard - Natural

The D-41 dreadnought, first introduced in 1969, is an important installment in Martin's 185-year legacy as one of America's most celebrated instrument makers. It has been favorably compared to the venerable D-45 — though only slightly less decorated. The latest D-41 retains the big, bold tone of previous generations, but substitutes a slimmer High Performance Taper neck for even greater playability, along with Forward Shifted X Bracing for greater bass. Its tone remains one of the most recognizable voices in American music history. Vintage-styled visuals and appointments, including an aged toner finish and open-gear tuners, give this D-41 an heirloom look. Own a piece of the Martin legacy with the Martin D-41 dreadnought acoustic guitar from Sweetwater.

Perfection!

Amazing guitar

D41 (2001):

By Mark Beale from Voorhees, NJ on July 27, 2023 Music Background: Piano/keys, acoustic guitar, harmonica & banjo.

I have 5 Martin guitars: D28 Marquis, std D28, HD28 LSV, 00028EC, and 2004 D41. They are ALL phenomenal playing instruments and keepers. That said, when I took delivery of the D41 I was floored by both sound and playability. Simply amazing! I have many acoustic playing friends and the few whom have played it all said the same thing: "WOW". Yep, it's that good. HIGHLY recommended ;-)

Amazing Guitar

By James G from Huntsville, TX on May 23, 2023

I bought mine from Chris Goldbach a few months ago. I have bought about 6 guitars and a Mesa Boogie amp from Sweet Water so when i got interested in this guitar of course I looked at Sweetwater. Chris was awesome as usual and I received this thing in 2 days. It sounds absolutely amazing. I wish I had been buying Martin's all along. Nothing against the Taylor guitars that I Own but this guitar sounds incredible. If you can afford it, it is worth every penny!

Amazing instrument

By Brian Thomas from Severance, CO on March 2, 2023

I have had this guitar now for about 1.5 weeks and have already played it about 50 hours. It is very hard to put down because the sound, playability, and character are just perfect. I own about 10 guitars and this one is my all time favorite. The craftsmanship that went into this instrument is out of this world. This will be an heirloom past down to many generations for sure.

Big thanks to Brad Jones my sales engineer for his excellent customer service!

Absolutely top notch! The workmanship, beauty, and tone of this Martin is beyond my expectations, and I have 3 other D series Martin's.

Martin D41

By Gary Schmidlap from Near Madison In. on April 8, 2022 Music Background: Played Mandolin with 4 or 5 different bluegrass groups the past 40 years or so. Now days just jam with whoever and love it.

My Martin arrived in excellent condition. Colton answered all of my questions on the phone and was very helpful. I highly recommend getting a set up. They will perform the set up to your specifications . The Martin sounds wonderful. I can't imagine what it will sound like in the years ahead. Thanks again Colton !!

D-41 Its magical!

By Steve from Michigan on February 8, 2022 Music Background: 45 years playing and performing

For someone playing for over 45 years, this Axe is the one I've been searching for. Beside its beautiful bling, its reimagined changes make playing it easier all over the board and its sound is awesome. Never thought my D-28 would be collecting so much dust but sitting down and playing the D-41, I forget about the D-28. Martin has truly kept up its quality control on these guitars.

Greatest Guitar Ever

By James Walden from Georgia on October 26, 2021 Music Background: Pro

I've played them all and own most of the Martins D16r, Hd28e,D35, Gibson Dove but the Martin D41 is tops. Perfect weight, smoothest playing, loudest. It doesn't get any better and Paul Lefemina will fix you up.

AMAZING!!!

By Pat from Jersey on December 26, 2019 Music Background: Just love it

I just took it out of its case. It truly is a work of art. I have a DX one from 10 years ago. An HD28 From all the way back in 2017 that I love. This one, the D41 is magnificent. Just the right amount of abalone inlay without going overboard (for me). The nut, bridge and pins are bone, adds to the tone. The tone is very pleasing. My ears have been listening to stuff for 64 years so the high frequencies aren’t what they used to be. This one rings pretty. It’s like Goldie locks ......not too high....not too low ..... just right. It seems that Wood is ‘graded’... like pool cues, one can be straight and true, another looks like a hammock. The wood used in the D41 is pretty darn nice. Sounds absolutely amazing. James had the shop put on marquis custom 11s.... at my request and I couldn’t be happier. What a beautiful guitar and it’s all mine.

Great experience ordering, shipping and product quality as expected. Packaging was great and ensured perfect delivery no issues! I have been wanting this D-41 for years - got it and love it! Special thanks to the Sweetwater team and Alex Rodriguez who made it painless with very friendly and professional assistance. Thx!

Amazing!

By Steve Bunce from San Dimas, CA on December 15, 2018

Recently I purchased a D-41 from Sweetwater. Before I get in to my review of the guitar I want to give a special shout out to Ryan Murray. Thank you Ryan for always taking such good care of me. His attention to taking care of all of my special requests such as setup and pickup install were exceptional!

Now on to the guitar. I have been playing for over 50 years. I always wanted a D-41 ever since I first played one in 1969. My only issue with getting one was the neck profile back then. It just did not work for me. Enter the new reimagined 2018 D-41 and the new neck profile. Bingo! Fit me like a glove. I also play a Taylor 816ce. The neck profiles on these two guitars are very similar. Fit and finish on this guitar is expectional! The rosewood back and sides are absolutely beautiful. The Sitka top is perfecty cut and the new aged toner finish is wonderful and fits the overall look of the guitar perfectly. Then abalone inlays are nothing short of amazing. Just enough bling to be wonderful to look at and not be gaudy. When I opened the case for the first time it took my breath away! The craftsmanship of this guitar is phenomenal!

With the very first strum on this guitar I knew instantly that it was a home run. This guitar has "THE" acoustic sound I have wanted my whole life. The bass is full and powerful yet not overbearing. The mids and highs are balanced and lush beyond anything I have ever played. Finger picked or strummed the notes are just beautiful. Playability was a huge surprise. Having a Taylor can really spoil you when it comes to playability. This guitar plays every bit as well. I will be using both in my new one man show, They compliment each other perfectly.

In closing I could not be happier with my purchase of the Martin D-41 and the wonderful service I received from Ryan at Sweetwater.

Wow

I just bought this reimagined 2018 model from Sweetwater! It is incredible. The sound is unreal. It has a balanced tone with a brilliant top end that is so sweet and articulate.

Ed, thanks for pointing me in the direction of this amazing, tone monster.
