Guild D-2612CE Deluxe 12-string Acoustic-electric Guitar - Antique Sunburst Reviews
Guild has been producing some of America's favorite acoustics for more than 50 years. The Guild D-2612CE Deluxe acoustic-electric guitar is a member of Guild's Westerly collection that pays homage to the factory that ushered in Guild's golden age. This guitar has a ’60s inspired design that's complete with an arched ebony back, cutaway dreadnought body, and vintage-inspired finish. Modern upgrades consist of a soundhole-mounted Fishman Sonitone electronics and preamp for superior plugged-in tone. The ebony back and sides provide excellent projection while the C-shaped mahogany neck fills your hand nicely without feeling overly thick. If you're looking for a 12-string that you'll gravitate to day after day, the Guild D-2612CE is the guitar for you.

Absolutely beautiful
Great sounding out of the box, action is low. Love the striped ebony. Well worth the money, as good as more expensive guitars if not better.
Beautiful
Absolutely stunning and sounds great.
Great sound!
This has to be the best 12 string guitar I have ever owned. Great quality, amazing sound and nice color!
Sweet.
SUUUWEEEEET!!! Gotta love the Westerly edition Guilds. I've owned an American made Rhode Island D15m for many years. Bought it new and still my favorite guitar, still sounds great. Hoping this 12 string can hold up as well as my D15m. These are life time guitars.
Buy this guitar
When I called my Sales Engineer Dave Hoffman and asked him what he would recommend for a 12 string acoustic. He immediately pointed me towards this Guild and I could not be happier with his recommendation.
The playability, sound and aesthetics are excellent. The neck width is very comfortable and the action is great. The unplugged tone is warm and well rounded. Bass notes are full sounding and yet the B and low E strings are not tinny with clear mid range on the D and G strings. Plugged in it sounds even better. I also could not be happier with the look of the guitar. The striped ebony is absolutely gorgeous and pairs well with the dark burst finish. All bindings, inlays and finish are something I would have expected from a much higher priced instrument. Super pleased with the setup and delivery as well.
Guild D-2612CE is one sweet sounding 12-string
After owning this guitar for a couple of weeks,I have to say, it is all I had hoped it would be.It has beautifully clear highs and deep resonating lows and overall has a very rich and satisfying sound. It replaces an older 12-string I had and, without any brand bashing, has a much better sound! And the look of this guitar, with it's 2-tone ebony back and sides,is quite pleasing to the eye.I am very happy with this!
The King of my guitar stable
I called Patrick Lantz at Sweetwater last year as U was looking to buy a higher-end 12 string acoustic/electric guitar. I had started off with a Fender 12 string as an experiment, and fell in love with the 12 string sound, finally realizing that I was now looking for a much more solid and quality sound. Patrick advised me to purchase this Guild 12 string knowing fully well that I was prepared to spend more money than the cost of this Guild guitar. After questioning me as to my requirements and expectations from a 12 string, this was the direction that pointers me towards.
I really was not disappointed! The sound of this guitar is rich and gentle. I use it a lot for recording and although I am able to play directly into the audio face, I still often mike the guitar and it's rich, orchestral sound is captured on the recording.
My special thanks to Patrick for his expertise and sincerity.
Exceptionally Cool!!
When it comes to 12 strings guitar Guild would be one the biggest name on the table, As for this model it's a big surprise for my self, I just had it out of the box tuned it & it begun to play like it was playing for 10 years I'm talking about playability, sound and resonance. Perfect
Worthy Of Its Name
I forced myself to wait a week before writing this review. I have owned many 12 string guitars in 40+ years of playing. Some were very expensive, some were not. The D-2612CE is the sweetest 12 I've ever owned. It far exceeded my expectations and they were high.
It has a well balanced tone with lots of shimmer in the high end, a well pronounced mid presence and solid bass projection. I love the ghostly overtones I get when finger picking, almost like a natural built-in reverb. Can't play it late at night because I have roommates and this thing throws some serious sound, even when playing lightly.
Action was a little high out of the box but after a couple of turns on the truss rod (it comes with a decent-sized wrench) it plays very even and smooth all the way up the neck.
A beautiful guitar that looks, sounds and plays like a 2k+ instrument. If this is in your price range, then just get it before they're gone. Nothing else at this price level even comes close. Guild hit a home run with this one.
I love this 12 string!!!
I find the fretboard of this guitar to be absolutely perfect for me, I have an electric 12 string where the neck is just a tiny bit too narrow, but this is just right for me. The tone of this instrument is superb, and the appearance is just beautiful. The techs at Sweetwater did their usual fantastic job with the setup and this guitar played beautifully right out of the box with the only thing it needed was a wee bit of tuning.
Very well balanced
I purchased this guitar to replace an old Alvarez 12 string that the bridge/top had failed on. This guitar is extremely smooth playing and has a very balanced tone. The fit and finish is very nice as well. Mine has a bit of bear claw figure in the top which was unexpected. Overall a solid 5 stars. It played better and was more balanced than guitars I had tried that were twice the price.
A Powerhouse of a 12 string
I recently added some 12 string songs to the repertoire and needed one to get the sound just right. So I found this Guild at Sweetwater. I did not have a Guild in my arsenal but knew of them and took a chance and man was I pleasantly surprised !! The action is like butter, and the sound is bold and powerful, so much so that you can literally feel it in your body when you play it, and you won't want to stop playing it !! It is also a beautifully built instrument from the arched striped ebony back and sides to the Sitka spruce top to the antique sunburst finish it is simply perfect and more than I expected for the cost - Dennis ATL
Wanted a Guild 12 String since 1979. Finally own one!
Literally blows my mind. Build quality and beauty of the ebony wood is astounding. The guitar is far better than I am capable of playing as it should be, but I'll get better. The tone is incredible. Great projection very balanced across the tonal spectrum. Lastly, I never thought I could afford one. If not mistaken the one I played at Orlando Music in 1979 was about $2100.00. In 1979. When I saw Sweetwater had a Guild 12 string for $... in 2020 I immediately began researching it was amazed by the caliber of reviews and commentary. I have pretty large hands and it had the widest neck of any 12 string I could find. Perfect for me. Sweetwater set it up for me (low as possible to the frets but no buzz). Absolutely could not be more pleased. Kudo's to Guild for this superb offering, and to Sweetwater for such great customer service and value.
Great guitar.
Plays and sounds great. Action good out of the box. Not a big fan of coated strings, but will do until changed. Acoustically, sounds really good. Plug it in, and it sounds like a guitar that should have cost a lot more money. Finish is great as well. Very classic look. Like the satin finish on the neck. Nice contrast to the gloss body. The arched back is a plus. The only problem was the case that was recommended. Guitar didn't fit. Case was about an inch or so to short. But the case fits my Seagull Walnut 12, and the case I had for it fits this guitar just fine. Great bang for the buck.
Really fine instrument
The craftsmanship exceeded my expectations and they were high. This is a well made solid acoustic 12 string worthy of the GUILD name.
Beautiful guitar, sounds great but when you plug it into your PA system you will be blown away.
Sounds much better then my old Ovation though that was a great guitar in its day. The Fishman system is exceptional. So far zero feedback. The only down side is once you plug it in your hooked it fills a room with sound.
Played good out of the box and hasn't needed a setup. I did tweak the truss rod a bit, (hey its a 12 string) and I tuned down 1/2 step. Stays in tune very well. The tuners are good but not as smooth as some of my other guitars.
Ian Lemberg is always great to work with. Wish I had more money for more guitars!!
Greatly Exceeded Expectations
I picked this guitar up because I wanted a solid 12-string but I didn't want one badly enough to spend $2000 dollars on it. It was going to be a guitar that I goofed around with from time to time. I've always loved Guild's arch back design so I decided that for the price it was worth a shot. I'm absolutely blown away by how nicely this guitar plays. It has that classic, solid Guild feel and it sings. This is the 10th Guild instrument I've owned and it frets as easily and any I've played in the $4000 price range. The sound is balanced and nuanced, lacking some of that drone like ring that some lesser 12-strings can produce. No string sounds louder than any other so it produces a very clear shimmer on open chords. The only thing that reveals that it isn't a much more expensive instrument is that it doesn't have that whole body rumble and resonance that a lot of high end Guilds have. That it doesn't mean it sounds bad, it just lacks that Guild boom. It could certainly get that sound as it wakes up with age but for now it is on the medium volume level. I would still feel like this guitar was a great value at twice the price and I'm recommending this series to all of my students.
Easy to play AND stays in tune
This is a great guitar for playing out in the heat of Florida. It it easy to play and sounds pretty good either plugged in or unplugged. It a trustworthy addition to my acoustic show! Thank you Sweetwater for all your work!
GUILD D2612 Ce
I bought this awesome guitar because is aesthetics caught my eye. It is beautifully crafted, sounds amazing and fun to play. It plays like a much more expensive brand. I couldn't find any flaws with the finish or any other part of the guitar. Oh and I forgot to mention Riley Koenemann is Awesome!
Beautiful sound, nice guitar!
Very nice sound, beautiful backing, stays in tune well, nice low action when received. Love the cut away, allows for playing up the neck. I really only have one drawback and it's not that bad- the neck. It's satin finished mahogany so it is a contrast to all the other glossy parts on the guitar. With that said, the neck back isn't perfectly smooth (at least mine) as you would expect from a neck. There is some wave in it from the grain of the wood. I'm not sure if the grain could have been filled in better, or maybe the neck should have been gloss finished. Anyway, doesn't affect the playing, only feel the grain @ the 7th fret. It makes the guitar unique, just not considering it flawless.
