Great practice amp

By Tristain Smith from Sanford ME on March 28, 2022

I am very pleased with the small package. It has a lot for how little it is. Works out great as a practice amp.

Amazing little amp

By Freddy on March 17, 2022 Music Background: giging musician

Great tone with plenty of oomph....You can gig with this amp in a small or maybe medium size venue depending on the acoustic space. you can also set a somewhat mellow tone for blues or jazz or make it scream for rock. you can also carry the amp with one finger its that light. Finally this is simply a great little amp with a huge personality and doubt anyone would be sorry for purchasing this baby.

Perfect for me

By Frank McGrogan from Hudson Fl. on November 30, 2021 Music Background: Been pickin since the 60s, blues, rock

I build and play cigar box guitars with magnetic pickups, single coil, humbuckers sometimes piezo's. This amp sounds great. Plenty of volume plus the effects are right on. It's worth the money. With 3 amp settings, clean, crunch and lead there's a lot to have fun with. I'm enjoying this amp. Plus it's easy to carry, nice and light.

GREAT FOR LAP STEEL GUITAR

By AZ GUITAR GUY from Arizona on June 18, 2021 Music Background: Professional musician

I got this mainly for lap steel guitar. All I need is reverb maybe delay and a good sounding clean amp.
This amp gets plenty loud enough to play with a small group no problem. The quality of the
sound is excellent. You get Bass, Mid, and Treble adjustments. The feature where you can select with your cell phone from a bunch of amps three amps you like it just mind boggling. My choices are Roland, Blackface, and Tweed. This is so cool. It is missing the effects you find on most Cube's but it is not an issue as I have pedals. I have never had a Roland Cube amp I was not pleased with. This amp is no exception.

Excellent service

By Turguy Gun from NY on February 26, 2021

Cube 10W is a 100w like monster. Super clean and mega gain. Way better than my expectations. Thanks for a real fast delivery and a great customer service you provided before and after the purchase.

it's more than you think

By Sweetwater Customer on November 14, 2020

besides the quality, sound and build roland is famous for, this sucker's loud. took it to band practice (sans drummer) and not only was it loud enough, i had to turn down. very impressed. btw, we play pop and country rock.

Awesome little Amp

By Sweetwater Customer on October 17, 2020

This amp is great reverb, chorus, delay, and distortion! perfect small amp for practicing or casual jamming! Love It !

Pleasantly surprised

By Bill Anderson from Bristol WI on August 13, 2020 Music Background: Several years in a band. Singer, rhythm guitar and bass. Fender telecaster. 60's Rock and Country. Solo artist in concert with a drummer.

I have used both a 35 watt and 65 watt cube coupled together on stage with a band and always impressed with Roland versatility.
My specific use for this small and robust amp includes traveling in our RV so the low power AC adaptor and overall weight filled the need.
As with my previous experience, I am completely satisfied with a product that ticks all the boxes.

Roland CUBE-10GX 1x8" 10-watt COSM Combo Amp with FX

By Peter Bobolis from AL on June 16, 2020

Perfect blues practice amp.

Fantastic little Amp

By Paul from Missouri on January 9, 2020

I am not much on writing reviews but I got to say that this Roland Cube 10GX is Fantastic.
Has great tone and easy to move from room to room.
It is also pretty load for its size.
The effects are alright but nothing to brag about.
Chorus is load and very noticeable, The Delay is not very good. Not very present and There is no way to turn sound up on delay.
Other words it is weak.
Reverb is OK but spring reverb is a little to springy
Other than that it is a great little amp and I like it. Its a keeper !
I have been using a small pedal board with the amp instead of the on board effects and the amp is amazing.
A lot better than a few others I have tried.
I also love the Cube Kit app where you can change the Amp sounds on each channel. Another reason I am keeping the Amp.

Awsome small guitar amp

By David from Houston Area on October 14, 2019 Music Background: Playing many years

This Cube guitar amp is amazing. It's sound is so much bigger than it's actual size. This little thing will get surprisingly loud and continues to sound good. The clean channel is very clean and clear with strong bass tone and wonderful treble. If you mic this little amp you could actually use it on stage. I bought it as a practice amp that I could move from room to room, but I'm thinking I might try it during one of our band's rehearsal, it sounds so good. The little 8 inch speaker will rattle the windows. It really gets loud if you use the "crunch" or "lead" channels. The effects are as good as any combo amp regardless of size. If you have someone that's learning to play this is a perfect guitar amp.

Roland CUBE - 10GX

By Sweetwater Customer on February 10, 2019

Awesome sounding little practice amp! You could get away with using it at a local gig if you mic'd it through a P.A.

Roland Cube 10GX

By Andy from TN. on May 29, 2018 Music Background: Cover Band Guitarist/Bassist

This amp is portable with nice effects. More than enough volume for personal practice. I am totally satisfied with this purchase. Sweetwater is my go to online store for all my musical needs.

Great little practice amp

By Gino from Jersey on January 7, 2018 Music Background: Very experienced

It arrived yesterday and tried I it right away. Sounds great and exactly what I was looking for. I've been playing in bands for decades so it's not just a kid's 1st amp. I wanted a small. light, good sounding practice amp that I could sing along with no mic on my vocals (for solo rehearsals). And I was primarily interested in that good, clean Roland sound. The solid crunch and OD settings are a bonus. It's kinda perfect. Thank you Sweetwater for steering me the right way!

By Terry Volk from Aiken, SC on May 16, 2017 Music Background: Old Time Picker

Hi, Its the Old Time Picker again, This time its a Little Combo that Sings like a Bird, This amp is perfect for home use, Its loud enough to make everyone in the house either sing along or run holding their ears, Its very clean and clear, And changing the Three presets is very simple, Just down load the Free ap, called Cube Kit, unplug your guitar cord from your guitar and put on the adapter that comes with the amp plug it into your cell phone to the ear phone jack, Turn the volume all the way up on the cell phone pick your favorite sound, Press the little button on the amp lit to the setting you want press download on your phone when you hear a chime from the amp its done, It takes about five second for it to down load, I'm blind and I can do it so so can you, Its a great all around amp, And I have many others, Well back to Pickin and Grinin,,,,,The Old Time Picker

Fun little amp!

By Nikki from Upland, CA on April 1, 2017

As a novice acoustic player buying my first electric guitar (the Squier Jaguar), I had no idea what to look for in amplifiers. Fortunately, the very knowledgable (and patient) Ashton Vaught listened to my mental wishlist and recommended the Cube - and it's perfect! Great for noodling in my home office with some fun sounds to play with. It inspires me to play even more!

Roland does it again!

By Steve from Texas on November 17, 2015 Music Background: well seasoned weekend warrior

After playing through a friend's CUBE, I decided to loose the Kustom I was using in favor of this versatile practice amp. I also have a JC-120 and Roland's quality is first-rate.

Roland Cube 10gx

Crystal clear sound and the effects are great. I have a very enjoyable time now playing my guitar,

Amazing Sound

By Sweetwater Customer on July 6, 2015

A friend had a Cube 10GX and I got to play it for only few minutes. That was enough to convince me that it was different than other small practice amps. I ordered one the following day. I can't say enough about how good this amp sounds. With the Bass, Mid, Treble controls combined with the Effects I can create a great sound that gives up nothing to the big guys. While a 10 watt amp will not fill a stadium, it is certainly adequate for a small venue.
There is no other amp to my knowledge that matches the 10GX for the price. I would buy it again in an instant. Nice produce!

Sweetwater's Customer Service Is The BEST!

By Al Stone from Fishers, Indiana on January 27, 2015 Music Background: Professional Musician since 1964

Due to a second heart attack, I recently "retired" from playing gigs, but I still wanted to woodshed on my six-string Gibson ES335 ... "never too old to learn!" I spoke with my Sweetwater rep, Marcos Sanchez, about the little Roland Cube-10GX guitar combo amp, since I've been playing mostly bass for the past 30+ years and didn't own a guitar amp. Marcos spent an inordinate amount of time on the phone and email explaining the little amp's features to me. After deciding to buy it, I placed the order via phone and the next morning the Cube showed up on my doorstep! It's the perfect practice amp -- everything Marcos promised. At 70, I'm able to work on technique, charts, SFX, and more without disturbing anyone else in the house! Great little amp but even greater customer service from Marcos and Sweetwater!

Best little practice amp for the money!

By curt s from Sheridan, WY on November 7, 2014 Music Background: Hobbyist

I have tried about five different small combo amps over the past year. I have tried amps prices at $99 and amps priced at $299. This little Roland Cube 10GX is the best amp I have tried. It is simple to use, has a great sounding speaker, crystal clear clean channel and very usable crunch and lead channels. The reverb and other effects sound great as well. If you are looking for a simple, uncomplicated, easy to use, great sounding portable amp then I recommend the Roland Cube 10GX highly. This is my third Roland amp, I also have the Micro Cube and the Micro Cube with four speakers, I am sold on Roland amps, they are all SUPER amps for the money, you won't be disappointed!

Unreal.

By Don Lessnau from Redford, MI on November 24, 2021

I can't believe the quality of the sound for such an inexpensive amp and only an 8" speaker. BUT...it's surprisingly good. I don't even know or use the "COSM" thing. I think it's just marketing doo-doo anyway. But the rest is all I need. More than enough. 3 voicings with 3 EQ bands and some pretty nice effects, especially the chorus. It's incredibly good considering the price. Nice full sound and plenty loud. Even at 4.

10 watts, 8 inch speaker, great for 'Low-Volume' recordings with the "G1-FOUR!"

By Sweetwater Customer from Mont Vernon, N.H, on April 2, 2021 Music Background: Guitars, woodwinds, percussion. Classic Rock, Jazz, & Latin Music.

I used the "Q2n-4K" to record the new ZOOM G1-FOUR through the CUBE-10GX 1X8. Much bigger sound! (I was recording with my 3watt-CUBE, but it sounded "tinny",I wanted a bigger sound, more like a 12 inch speaker). I was pleasantly surprized with the 8 inch 10 watt CUBE! I set it on "clean", and it sounded a lot bigger than the little 3 watt CUBE! I let the ZOOM G1FOUR do the rest, tone-shaping, etc. It sounded more like a 12 inch speaker-cab!

Roland 10W amp

By Jon Sarkela from Minnesota on July 17, 2020

All I can say is how surprised I am with the power this little amp puts out. The effects are out standing the low, midst, and high are crisp and clear and to think it only weighs around 5 pounds. Not only does this amp work well with my electric guitar, it also works great with my acoustic and select the clear setting with just a touch of chorus effects really brings my Martin alive and clean sounding. I am impressed with my Cube amp for a little package it packs a big punch.

Great starter amp

By Will Kaplan on February 24, 2020 Music Background: Guitar player

This is amazing starter amp that has a wide range of sounds and has many effects and features. A perfect amp for a beginner guitarist.

All good

By Rick Tanney on April 30, 2018

As soon as I got the Cube, guitar stand and cable home, I hooked up and played. Sounds great! I tried with both my acoustic hybrid (Cort) and my Schecter (Dan Donovan) electric, and was very pleased with what I heard.

A piece of advice about Crunch

By Michael from Mississippi on March 12, 2018

At one time, I owned a Roland Micro Cube and had a blast with it, so I was excited to get the Cube 10GX. I experienced with the settings for quite a while and was a little disappointed it didn't have the phaser effect like the Micro Cube. But what really concerned me, however, was the stock Crunch sound. It's supposed to emulate a 1987 Marshall head, but I thought it sounded really bad...too boomy when hitting chords and too tinny when playing individual notes. I tried all three of my Gibsons (Les Paul, Explorer and Firebird), to no avail. My Micro Cube sounded better than this.
I was getting more and more frustrated when I remembered the app gives you more options with simulated amp modeling. So I downloaded the app, followed the instructions and downloaded the Orange Stack model into my Cube. BAM! That was it...that was the crunch I was looking for. Maybe I'll get around to trying the Brit Combo and other amp models, but for now the Orange Stack is hitting the spot.
This is a great little amp, very versatile and good for small open jams or practicing in your bedroom. It's plenty loud, too!

Great practice amp

By Kyle Feliks from Ann Arbor, MI USA on February 18, 2015 Music Background: Hobbyist

Simple to use and no-frills, but sounds great. No buzzing. Warm sound. It's great for practicing because it sounds good even with the volume low.

The built-in effects are subtle but effective. Not great if you're looking for heavy distortion.

I tried a Line 6 Spider IV 15 and the cube was a massive improvement for just about the same money.

Solid Little Amp

By Chris on February 22, 2023

Plenty loud for its size. Definitely fills the room with sound, despite the small speaker. The companion app provides access to a wide array of tones, and the onboard effects are quite useable. The only downside is that these models no longer have the capability to run on batterys like the models of old...

Cube believer

By Jason from Ohio on September 15, 2018 Music Background: 27 yrs experience, guitar and pedal steel

This amp is simply amazing, blindfolded, the size would surprise you. Tone is impeccable, the app to add more amp tones broadness the horizons. I even used it for pedal steel, loaded the bass amp from the app, for the simulation of the 15" Speaker adjusted the tone, added spring reverb... Amazing little steel amp! My only dissatisfaction is the reverb and delay are either or... You can't have both, I always run delay in my chain along with reverb, this I can't do. I've got an old dusty pedal I can run in front lol. Highly recommend, otherwise I'd be a 5 if those little tweaks were made

On the Fence

By jack loganbill from chicago, il on September 8, 2015 Music Background: insane amateur

I purchased the Cube 10GX based on its great reviews and a recent guitar magazine article. I have played through tons of practice amps and they all sound, well, terrible in my opinion. I am used to playing through amps with 12" speakers or speaker cabinets, and it is very difficult for my years and mind to adjust to the sound of these amps. But this amp is different, I am very pleased with the sound, especially after uploading the additional amp models.

The pre-amp section and the COSM amp modeling, and the ability to download/upload a variety of amp models is pretty cool. The headphone out sounds very good and the pre-amp section records well through this connection.

The default clean sound is pretty good. I did not like the default crunch and lead sounds and changed them using the phone app. Have no idea at the moment which lead sound I am using but it sounds great.

The effects are controlled with a single knob. Would prefer discrete knobs and a bit more control but again, this is a practice amp! The effects do sound good.

So, it is what is, a practice amp. But I have not heard a better practice amp and being able to download/upload additional amp models that match my particular likes is the icing on the cake. And the little guy is well, really little.

Cube 10gx

By Sweetwater Customer on June 19, 2015

After downsizing from a much larger amp, I am very happy with the Cube. The amp models that it has are nice . I use the acoustic model a lot. I also use my IPad with Amplitude run into the aux in plug to create pretty much any sound this bedroom guitar player could want. My wife is a lot happier now that I have an amp that when you turn it on the windows don't start shaking.

Sounds fantastic.

By Edwin M Santiago on January 22, 2024 Music Background: Guitar and multi-instrumental musician.

For such a small amp. It has a great sounding speaker. Effects are limited to delay & reverb. Which you can not control. But they do sound good. For such a small amp. It has a great full sound. At a low or high level. Anything that inspires me to play has me using it over and over. I like.

The Roland micro- cube amp

By Richard on November 22, 2022

It's a good amp but it's not the micro cube.if you advertise the micro. With photos of it.you should make a strong effort to find it.its been discontinued but from the factory.not from sweetwtr.i would busted my butt trying to find one.

Poor sound quality vs the micro cube

By James on March 12, 2018

I have a 10-year old micro cube, which I love. Bought a new MIM strat recently and wanted something with a litttle more power. Got the 10 GX and was really excited. Clean channel sounded really nice. But both the crunch and lead options were very poor. They sound much better and clearer on the micro cube, and honestly it"s not even close. The micro cube was that much better. Perhaps the 10 gx needs to be played lout for it to open up, but I doubt that as well since the sound quality was just as poor through a pair of high end studio head phones. I"m returning the item and am enjoying the sound of my 10-year old micro.

Can't Change the amp model using Android.

By Scott Rockwell from WV on April 16, 2022

Amp works but all "amp types" now have the same amp model assigned to it, which I cant change with my Android phone or tablet ( I was able to get it to work once.) Now, whenever I try to change amp type, I hear a crackling sound and the light continues to flash. Tried multiple times with a different cable. I guess I'll have to send it back.
