Dunlop Mini 535Q Auto-Return Wah Pedal
Dunlop Mini 535Q Auto-Return Wah Pedal Reviews
There's always room for a wah pedal on your pedalboard, when it's the Dunlop Cry Baby Mini 535Q wah pedal. Not only does it pack the iconic Cry Baby wah sound in an ultra-compact format, but this Cry Baby has also been modded with auto-return switching for maximum convenience when performing onstage — just take your foot off the pedal when you want to disengage the wah effect. Use the range selector to fine-tune the sweep of the wah for any guitar, then use the Q control to shape the emphasis of the wah effect. And to make sure your solos sound as epic as possible, you can use the volume and boost switches to push your tone front and center. Whether you love the mini-pedal format or have always wanted classic Cry Baby tone with auto-return switching, Sweetwater is sure you'll be impressed with the Dunlop Cry Baby Mini 535Q wah pedal.
ALMOST PERFECT
I love the Mini-Wah, tone and instant return.
Playing live is much simpler with AR.
Only one thing could-would make it porrfect.
Having ACCURATE product info.
Most Versatile Wah
Love the instant on/off. Makes me go to it more often for lead passages. Great tweakability. Found my favorite tone and locked it in. Been using a Crybaby since the old Thomas Organ ones from the early 70s. This gets me there.
Not the style wah for me
The wah sounds great, and the gain feature is great. I like the adjustable Q, although the slide switch seems like it may be a little tender for my liking.
I thought I'd like the auto-return feature. I should have thought about how I normally use it. Sometimes I like engaging the wah and sitting on some part of the range for solos. I don't like having to hold my foot in a certain position for the duration. My bad. I exchanged it for the similar wah w/o the auto-return feature.
Great Wah pedal!
I was looking for a mini wah to fit my pedal board but I didn't want to deal with a traditional click on/off wah, as I find these type of wahs harder to operate. The 535Q solves this problem, the auto return makes operation much easier for solos. The wah has a very smooth vintage type sound, it is not at all harsh and makes solos really stand out! I haven't yet tapped into its full potential; however, I am very impressed! A bit on the pricey side but worth every $$! I highly recommend this pedal to any guitarist with a small pedal board. This is the one you want, look no further! As always Jason Thiele at x1391 is the man! Thank you Jason and Sweet Water for awesome customer service!
Great innovation!
Love a wah pedal. But the size, weight, and turning it on/off of a traditional was doable. However, there are definite improvements that could be made. This is it! The boost and auto on and off are game changers. Just makes using it so much easier. And maybe for momentary passages in a song live it's just convenient. Plus the small imprint helps!
Almost perfect
It's tiny but sounds awesome more than you may imagine. Thanks to Ben, at Sweetwater
spectacular in every way
I can't believe that I did not buy this pedal long ago as it is spectacular in every way. Sounds great. Very small - easly fits on a pedal board. I wish I had bought this years ago.
Super small with a huge tone
This was so much smaller than I expected and it sounds huge. It easily fits on any pedal board as it is no larger than a typical stomp box. It is very responsive and I love how it turns off and on automatically. That was very important to me. Worth every penny.
Great wah
Small compact and that auto return is great! Love this pedal,
First and only wah
I've been playing for years but never invested in a wah for size reasons and, admittedly, lack of knowledge on wahs. Once I figured it all out I fell in love. With the spring operation you can just reach for it at any moment and add expression to your playing. The boost is in operation only when the wah is, so that's another tool for expression and creativity. I set it at 25% for a light volume boost. It's fun for the classic wah riffs and sounds, but I found it's sweet spot to be as a creative highlighter for solos. I've never even used a regular wah pedal and I don't foresee it when something like this is available. Actually crazy there aren't more wahs with the auto return function.
Miraculous!
No more deciding if there's room in my bag to take a wah! I can easily engage it while relaxing on the couch watching TV, too, thanks to the auto return function. I keep it on the first "classic" frequency sweep because it reminds me of that sound Ron Asheton got on the first two Stooges albums. The springs squeak crazy loud if you don't lubricate them, though. I used the super WD-40 with silicone and now it's quiet as a mouse. I wear a size 8.5 shoe so size doesn't matter.
It's a Dunlop Wah
Well, it IS a Dunlop wah. Sounds just like one. If you can use a small form factor wah, this is a good one. The auto-on feature is great. Unless you happen to like the "click" of the old ones. On some songs it can be a cool effect. My one caveat is the milliseconds it takes for the wah to turn off. On stage it really isn't too noticeable. In a recording you may have to do some micro-editing to take it out. All in all, it's good fit for a smaller pedalboard. Takes up just a tad bit more space than a normal sized boss-sized pedal. For now, I'm happy with it.
Cry Baby
Pedal works fine. I like the auto-return feature which is why I chose this pedal. Unfortunately it is a mini pedal so it does not fit my size 13 foot all that well but I make it work. The overall quality and robustness is good and it performs well.
Dunlop Mini 535Q Auto-Return Wah
The sounds and functions made it easy to dial in the Wah functions and tone that I like. Also fits on the Small EX pedalboard perfectly. That is where the only problem I have is with the angle of the pedal as it sits on the pedalboard, it becomes a little hard to use, for me, at the angle it now has on the pedalboard. Otherwise, it would be a 5. I may put a small shim under the back of the pedal to resolve this issue.
It's the perfect wah pedal
In my opinion anyway. I needed a reliable wah pedal with a good sweep and great sound that didn't take up a lot of space on my gig board. The 535 AR delivered in spades. Despite the small size its extremely easy to use and the auto return is simply the best idea for a wah pedal period. The ability to tweak the tone certainly helps and this thing sounds amazing. I don't notice a huge lift from the boost but I didn't buy it for that. If you are looking for am excellent wah, you cannot do better than this one.
535Q Mini Auto Return Wah
Finally...the Wah pedal I have been waiting for. Great tone and the auto return is such a good feature. Small so it fits easily on the pedalboard. This is it...look no further.
Crybaby CBM535QAR
You can dial in any wah sounds and the auto return feature is amazing!!!
This is the only mini-wah to get
I have owned a number of different Wah pedals and the auto-return feature is the only way to go. Lot's of ways to adjust the mid-range sweep. Well worth the wait!
Exactly what I needed
Finally got rid of that "Is the wah on or is it off" stress. Step on it "on", step. off "off". I wonder why Dunlop did not offer this model before. I know that there is a 95Q model, but finally it is combined with a mini and more functional version. After purchasing many others, my wah pedal search is finally over.
And thanks to Sweetwater, the pedal was at my doorstep within a week - a very fast delivery considering that I ordered it from the other side of the World :)
The Wah I've been waiting for
I had a 535Q, which I loved. Unfortunately, devices don't last forever. When I saw that this was basically the same pedal, but half the size, and it doesn't require pressing an activation button, I was sold. I love it. Once you try it, you'll ask yourself "Why didn't they come up with this years ago?". In my opinion, all Wahs should have this Auto-Return feature.
Best Wah ever!
In one Boss sized unit you have each and every wah feature and mod you would want Best of all, they've finally taken advantage of the Morley spring off/on mechanism without the size of half your pedal board. This one's a keeper!!
Dunlop won me over on this one! 5 STARS
They really knocked it out of the park on the CBM535AR. This little wah has everything you'd want in a wah. I have the full-sized Crybaby 95Q and this is pretty much the same just smaller. It fits on my Pedaltrain Nano perfectly. If you're like me and like small pedalboards, this is the one for you. It packs a bunch of features into one little package, and it ROCKS. I love it!
Wow!
That's all I can really say and it was perfect timing. I was switching out my Dimebag wah for something new and I wanted to try and match all the features it had. All I can say is... this thing rips! It has the range that I would generally use, small footprint, and the auto switch was just an added bonus. It reacts well and you can adjust the sensitivity to "turn off" the wah! Well done Dunlop.
Really Nice!
As a bassist why would I get a guitar Wah and not a Bass Wah? No clue. But I'm happy I got this one. An adjustment, Volume, 4 frequency band and Volume/Wah boost selection gives you quite a range of useful and easy operation tools for your tone searches.
The biggest brilliant part of this is the lack of a toe switch. I've seen stumble bumble foots trying to engage a Wah wah and the best part of a lead gets missed. This has a spring up position pedal, and the switch relay is in the heel portion. Just go up and start crying like a baby at whim! Leave it and it's back to full bypass. No fumble off!
The size is also compact, so it fits nicely on my board and into a case without the need of separate carry.
Don't whine or cry about it, try it!
