Electric Guitar Effects Pedal with Cocked Wah, Talking Wah, Fuzz Tones, and Expression Pedal Control

The Electro-Harmonix Cock Fight cocked talking wah pedal lets you easily achieve cocked wah, synth tones, and everything in between. A step of the footswitch brings in a variable-frequency cocked wah sound, while plugging in an outboard expression pedal offers you standard foot control of the tones. And the fuzz side of the pedal, which can be placed before or after the wah, can go from sounding full to a dying-battery sputtering tone with the twist of a knob. The Electro-Harmonix Cock Fight cocked talking wah effects pedal adds new wah-based colors to your rig.

BEST TALK BOX SIMULATOR

By danny salvaggio from Long Island NY on September 26, 2023 Music Background: Guitarist

The EHX Cockfight, is AMAZING! I wanted the Talk Box sound without the hassle of the tube in the mouth and mic set up which can be extremely awkward and impractical. The "Cockfight " solves that problem giving you the closest thing to a talk box. I purchased the Moeg EP-3 expression pedal with it which lets you control the pedal's "VOWEL " sounds while you play. It's like playing another instrument and sounds amazing. It also has one of the best fuzz circuits I've ever heard, with a bias control to give you a dying, sputtering germanium transistor sound. It's also a Wha Pedal, what more can anyone want in one pedal, I LOVE this Pedal! Thanks to Andrew my sales Engineer he's Great.

Awesome!!!!!

By Tony from TN on October 13, 2021 Music Background: multiple world tours of my guitar room.

This is the sound I needed. Dials in with a good gain circuit. I have a few ehx pedals and this one is very flexible yo work with. I took my wah pedal out of my signal chain for now. Runs hood in tube and solid state setups. If you read the manual, there is a tiny switch on the circuit board. Great pedal and great customer service from Riley my sales guy.

Cocked Talking Wah

By BC Murphy from Ohio on February 7, 2021

The Electro-Harmonix Cocked Talking Wah and Fuzz Pedal was just what I needed to get those cocked wah tones, plus this pedal can color your tones in cool ways.

Love this Pedal!

By Dave from High Sierra on December 9, 2020 Music Background: Longtime gigging guitarist and band member

Sounds excellent! Great pedal, thoughtfully designed. Both the Cry and Talk tones sound excellent and they're more versatile and useful than I anticipated. I didn't think I'd care for the bias function but it sounds really cool when you want that type of tone/texture. I own an NYC reissue Big Muff and a Ram's head which I love and the fuzz on this Cockfight sounds excellent in my opinion. Rich, endless sustain. I love that you can cut the fuzz or swap the order of the fuzz and wah functions. Really affects the tone. I have a couple weeks on it now and it's earned a permanent place on my board! I think it's a great value for the price considering that you're getting a great fuzz and fixed wah in one pedal plus the additional, very useful functions. I'm having a ton of fun with this!

Big fan of this pedal

By Sweetwater Customer on May 5, 2020

Great pedal, lots of cool options. Works very well as a standard wah. Love the fuzz! Only wish there was a separate switch to engage the it. I've had it for 3 years now, got rid of my Fulltone Clyde Deluxe in favor of this.

birds of a feather.....

By geo from richmond, va on September 26, 2016 Music Background: 31 years radio producer/composer/band leader

this is my 12th electro-harmonix buy. their imagination over the decades is still as fresh as ever.

for this micro-package a lot of sonic bang for the buck. nice tones from my '72 bassman...but it really shines in the effx loop of my marshall vintage modern. as the instruction manual states, you do get a very Jimi vibe on the pre-wah setting--from my inexpensive SX 1/2 size strat to my '77 fender. technology is just crammed up the yazoo in this metal nest. all controls have massive effect--including the bottom adj for enriching the low end. i have to smile at the inventive nature of the bias control that allows full susstain of fuzz to the dying spit-spat coughing battery emulation.

while an expression pedal is really needed to take full advantage[my thanks to sales engineer Dan Overstreet for guiding me to the moog pedal recently]....my guess for ehx not including one--those dealing with limited pedal space. also...gracious of ehx to recommend that moog pedal and other brands. kind of like macy sending customers to gimbels in miracle on 34th street. also cool of ehx to specify alkaline battery should you choose that root--quite often they mention carbon zinc. its a moot point since you have the tremendous sonic control w/ the bias knob.

be cognizant the tunes demoed in the video use multi-tracking...that being said its up to the user to engage equal inventiveness. as powerful a pedal as this is---it doesn't forsake nuance. i've learned that already in the couple of days i've lived with it. and....the ehx humor is there- a la the red LED in the rooster's eye.

flying the friendly skies of fuzz & winging the wah with this one....no turkey here !

EH CF Cocked Talking Wah

By Gary from MI on July 31, 2016

Great pedal ! There are so many tones to be found. An expression pedal ( I use a Moog) makes this one of the best wahs I've used. Tip 'o the hat to my sales tech, James Masterson. He does a great job !

Winner By Knock out

By Dave Shields from Tacoma WA on February 5, 2016

What can I say? I have a loaded pedal board that has been gathering dust since I bought this. Along with the terrific cry and talk modes, this box has a really excellent fuzz. The inclusion of the pre-post switch for the fuzz and the bottom and bias control make this pedal beyond versatile!

Whatever you do, DON'T buy this!

By James from Maine on February 2, 2016

You know, I don't really want to give this a positive, glowing review, because this thing sounds so good, I want to be the only one who has one. Where to start? Firstly, this pedal is designed to mimic the effect of having a wah pedal "Cocked", or left in one position while on. I will say that the Electro-Harmonix demo video does not do a great job of showing the pedal being used without an expression pedal. Putting all of that aside, get an expression pedal, it's worth it. I got the Moog pedal that is frequently offered alongside this, and it works great. With the Exp. pedal, this becomes a more traditional wah, although it is a little bit weak of a wah when the fuzz is off. Not to worry, you WILL NEVER WANT TO TURN THE FUZZ OFF. It goes from a good crunch to a solid wall of fuzzy sound. But when you add it PRE wah (oh, yeah, did I forget to mention you can put the fuzz before or AFTER the wah?) you get a great, synth-like sound that is hugely expressive. when you change wah modes (TWO WAH MODES!?!) from crying way to talking wah it adds a whole other dimension of wild sounds. Holy Crap, this is amazing! Ok, ok, one last (two last) thing(s) there are two little knobs: one adds tons of bass back into your signal that is usually stripped out with a wah, and the other is a "Bias" control that simulates a dying battery in the fuzz, and it gives a great lo-fi edge to the sound.

The C0ck Fight is really, honestly like getting several pedals at once. I've had this for about two weeks now, and I haven't even touched bottom in terms of finding new sounds...WOW.

Cool Pedal!

By sal velarde from Central Mexico on January 26, 2016 Music Background: Music producer

If you're bored with your tone, it's time to spice it. This pedal has great quality and it's great bang for the buck. Look no further, this thing rocks!
Thanks to Ted and all the sweetwater team.

Fabulous!

By Kevin Bradford from Derby, KS on December 24, 2015

This is the most fun I've had with a pedal in sometime. I'm really surprised that it doesn't cost twice as much. I find new and more sounds with/from it everytime I use it and have used it on everything from Flamingo to Texas Blues. Really fun to experiment with, made like a tank, high quality components at a great price. There is nothing not to love here! Get a Moog expression pedal with it and have a blast!!

Good Stuff

By CG from New York City on December 18, 2015 Music Background: 50 years with guitar

All kinds of unique sonic landscapes in this little box. A tweekers delight. This brilliant invention can cut through any mix like a scalpel. All kinds of hollow, wolfy sounds just blowing my mind. Add a wah on either side and get ready for some big fun.
Wah is arguably one of the most fundamental of all guitar tones. Getting it served up this way with the addition of an expression pedal expands this box in an exponential way. Good price point makes this a great addition. Kudos to EH for that memorable moniker as well.

Mwah. Magnificent.

By Matt Freitag from Wisconsin on August 10, 2023 Music Background: musical wizard

Absolutely brilliant. Can be used for basic tone texturing at low drive or absolute cock fighting at higher drive. MAXIMUM drive is a little too overdriven for both PRE and POST FUZZ IMO but to each their own.

Personal Settings:
Bias and Bottom @ 12 o'clock

TALK WAH & POST FUZZ

12 o'clock volume (user preference)

70-80% Freq w/ EXP Pedal or ≤25% w/o

75% Tone

≤25% Drive (Low Drive) or ≤70% (preference again)

Good but dissatisfied

Pedal is great unfortunately I was sent an old model with no internal dip switch for fuzz through function.

EHX Cockfight

By Joshua E. Mundell from BLOOMINGTON, IN on March 25, 2021

Great pedal, tons of options. Bias knob adds an interesting touch and can get a little noisy if you turn it all the way up but don't worry, its a fuzz pedal and gets even louder when you play. I love the tones I can pull out of this thing. Will sustain for days if you want it to. I recommend using it with an expression pedal to squeeze out its full potential although I did use it without one for a few weeks and still loved it. The best thing is that it has a lot of options to help dial in the tone your looking for

Great tones

By Steve from Florida on September 23, 2019 Music Background: Since 1975, playing, writing and recording.

Love the flexibility and tone of this pedal. Definitely going to buy an external control pedal to use it as a wah as well. Note that some settings with the fuzz gain can create quite a lot of background noise though.

Great Stompbox

By Sweetwater Customer from North East Indiana on June 25, 2017 Music Background: Lifelong musical hobbyist

Just picked this up at Gearfest 2017. It's a great pedal. Lots of versatility with a pre/post/off switch for the fuzz circuit. Can be dialed for open chords or single notes. Big thanks to Jon Skibic from EHX, he demoed this for me, he's quite knowledgeable, and explained the controls well. Not to mention his incredible musicianship. I gave a four star rating because I believe you need an expression pedal to fully utilize this pedal. All things considered, this was a STEAL at Gearfest for under 90 bucks. Even at the everyday price, I'd recommend this to anyone, regardless of playing ability. The squaky fuzz makes a cool vintage distortion tone. And someone who's soloing will love the choked note sounds you can get as well.

cool pedal

By Ben Davella on July 8, 2016 Music Background: Old man, New shredder

Nice pedal tho I have yet to try it with an expression pedal Lots of tonal options as well And need I say about the service? This store, though not the cheapest , ALWAYS provides killer service and stands behind their products You get more then you pay for here! Ian is always friendly and even follows up with a call to make sure you are satisfied This quality service is a blast from the past!!

Me Likes!

By Nyabinghi Djehutti on March 29, 2016

I like the versitality over the cry baby wah, especially being able to control the high end frequency. However, the volume difference between the clean and distortion setting requires a manual adjustment to the volume when switching. It would be great if they could manage a way to keep a consistent output volume when switching between clean and dirty settings. Haven't quite mastered the talking wah setting using the expression pedal yet. Per haps, more control over the vowel sounds and optional transitions between them would help.

Overall, being a lightweight alternative to the Crybaby, the overdrive/distortion, and the flexibility of placement of the expression pedal makes it a space saver in a pedal rack and worth the price.

Versatile

By Jetspeed on February 22, 2016

The Electro-Harmonix "Male Chicken" Fight (sorry, the Sweetwater page censored the actual pedal name as inappropriate language - ha!) is a highly versatile distortion-type pedal that can create some interesting and unusual sounds when properly tweaked. It probably works a lot better with the Expression Pedal, but I've been able to tune in some really cool sounds as is.
4/5 stars

Just not for me.

By Phil from Louisville Ky on March 26, 2016 Music Background: weekend warrior playing 30+ years

I picked this up after being really impressed by the demos I saw on line. I really thought using it as a talking Wah like the demo would be really cool. I thought the crying wah sounded great too & adding the fuzz really made it sing. It did in the video. I can see how this could be really cool used for recording but I could not duplicate the sounds effectively with my live rig. It could be that my rig is not suited for this pedal. I use a Marshall JVM w a 4 x12. Perhaps a small combo is the right amp for this thing. Single coils are the way to go here too as hum buckers are muddy. I used all the settings shown in the demo & an expression pedal but just could not get the same cool vibe captured in the demo. It is built very sturdy & the controls are responsive the bottom control was great to have to keep it from being to bassy or to thin. The fuzz is great too you can get just a little or roaring. It makes a big difference in your clean channel. I just could not find that this could do more for me than I could not do with my existing wha. I ended up returning it and picked up a used Boss Dynamic Wah. I found the talking wah in it much more to my liking and closer to what I hear on the demos. If I were doing heavy recording now vs heavy gigging this would have been perfect.

Waste of money

By Sweetwater Customer on March 4, 2016

I was excited to get this pedal but was horrified when I plugged it in. In my opinion the fuzz in unruly and sounds awful and most of the wah settings are barely audible without an expression pedal. This is a novelty item and not worth over $100 by any stretch. Dont do it folks
