Electro-Harmonix Cntl Knob Static Expression Pedal Reviews

Static Expression Pedal for Guitar, Bass, and Keyboard with 2 Switchable Expression Settings

Are you dissatisfied with your current expression pedal's ability to precisely control your delay or pitch shifting pedal? It's not just you; plenty of guitarists here at Sweetwater struggle the same issue. Thankfully, the Electro-Harmonix Cntl Knob Static Expression Pedal is here to help you out. It has two control knobs that control two expression settings. When used with a pitch shifter, you can set the first knob to a fifth interval and the second to an octave. Then you can toggle back and forth as needed with the footswitch without worrying if you're in tune. This compact pedal is an excellent candidate for your pedalboard because it takes up less space than a traditional expression pedal, costs less money, and is capable of greater precision than any other expression pedal you've tried before. The Cntl Knob is compatible with any device with an expression pedal input and comes complete with a 6-foot TRS cable. What are you waiting for? Ditch your clunky expression pedal and try out the Cntl Knob from Electro-Harmonix.

It’s perfect!

By Louicaro from The South on December 28, 2022 Music Background: Bass player in many bands over the past 25 years.

Great little pedal. I use it with the EQD SwissThings as a mute switch, and it works perfectly! It's tiny, and doesn't actually need power to work; although it's nice to have the lights as a reference. If you don't have room for an expression pedal or you're like me and only need the two extremes of tow down/heel down, this is the pedal for you!

Perfect

I'm using this with an analog delay that has no tap tempo. Gives me a long and a short tempo which fits most songs on a short repeat. Works great!

Wow

By VonBach from Springdale, AR on October 23, 2021 Music Background: Played in the basement for years, then graduated to the garage.

Just what the doctor ordered! 2 knobs you can set to any ratio you like. I'm using it as a Volume control for my Katana 50 MkII. The footswitch simply goes back and forth between the knob channels. And if you don't want to use a power cord, the switching circuit is passive so it still works. The only other way I've found to control the amp via the EXP jack is with a foot volume pedal and that gets really squirrely at the ends of the travel range. This is much easier to control AND lets you set TWO levels instead of 0 to 100. And the price is honest. I'm a fan.

EHX Cntl Knob

Quick and easy to have two expression presets stored.

Good Gear

Does exactly what it's supposed to do. I have it plugged into the expression jack on a Katana 50. Wors as advertised.

Ever find a sweet spot or two with an expression pedal applied to effects? That's what the Cntl Knob is for; isolating a couple of expression sweet spots. The Cntl Knob performs said feat as advertised. I've used the Cntl Knob with about a half dozen EHX pedals, a Crash Pad reissue, and a Moogerfooger or two. Although I have had to use it, there is an external button to change polarity for other exotic pedals or devices.
The one odd thing about Cntl Knob is power. It doesn't need a battery or 9V adapter to work. There no place for a battery. The 9V input jack is solely for powering the LEDs under each setting knob. Otherwise, you're guessing until you turn the selected expression knob.
A 9V power adapter is not included, but a five and a half foot TRS cable does come with the Cntl Knob. I suppose that's what really matters.

Great option for use with certain pedals.

I do have an expression pedal, however, I simply wanted the ability to switch between 2 settings on my Grand Canyon Delay. This pedal allows me to have 26 presets instead of 13. With the Grand Canyon Delay, I like to use some of the effects w/o delay. For example, I can now have a nice chorus sound and then with to chorus with delay without having to sweep the entire parameter.
