Dreadbox Nostalgia 3-Stage Delay Eurorack Module Reviews
Part of Dreadbox’s affordable but powerful Chromatic Modules series, Nostalgia is a 3-stage hybrid delay module based on the Echo channel from Dreadbox’s Erebus Synth—a favorite of synthesists at Sweetwater. The three delays run in series for classic multi-tap style effects, and feedback for different stages are independently controllable. Delay time ranges from 30ms, for tight slapback delays, to 1 sec for cavernous echoing, and includes a CV input. And, Nostalgia’s LFO is excellent for adding warbling modulations to the signal. On top of its module-level input, Nostalgia includes a separate input for introducing guitars, basses, and other instruments into the Eurorack environment. At Sweetwater, we know that diving into the world of Eurorack can seem like an expensive and intimidating undertaking. Dreadbox’s Chromatic Module series lowers the barrier to entry and provides an excellent starting point for Eurorack neophytes that won’t clean out their wallets, while delivering stunning sounds advanced users will love, too.

Useful, interesting delay flavor
I have several delays in my modular system that I apply differently. I've found this one best suited to being used on a melodic element. It is somewhat limited due to having a shorter delay time, but there are several features that differentiate it from others delays I have. One such feature is having two feedback stages; this really opens up the possibilities of getting some saturated, overdriven tones from whatever you feed it. It warms things up nicely. Another thing I like about it is the onboard LFO which you can apply to the pitch of the wet signal. This makes for some unique possibilities and its always useful to have some extra modulation options in the case as these LFOs have their own outputs so you can also use them other than just on this module. Overall, it's not a game changer like a Mimeophon might be, but it's very capable, useful, and affordable (unlike many other options out there). This is the second module from this line I've bought and I've been really impressed with the amount of functionality packed into each module for the amount of hp it takes up, the sound quality, and price.
