Line 6 Catalyst 200 200-watt 2 x 12-inch Combo Amplifier Reviews
Looking for an amp that’s equally at home on the stage and in the studio? Line 6’s Catalyst 200 amplifier boasts a gig-ready 200-watt, 2 x 12-inch construction, in addition to a multitude of features that make it a perfect home recording and practice companion. The Catalyst 200 offers six original amp designs that will deliver any tone you could ask for — from warm and round cleans to shrieking high-gain crunch. Also onboard are 18 built-in effects and a dedicated reverb section (with six distinct reverb types), offering near-unlimited tone-shaping possibilities. A power attenuator can adjust the Catalyst to half power, mute, or even 0.5 watts for late-night practice sessions without waking the neighbors. What’s more, the Catalyst series can also function as a 4-channel USB recording interface for silent practice and recording applications.

fantastic amp!
I bought this amp to demo my custom guitars at shows.I wanted an amp that could handle just about any style a guitar player would want. With the edit software I was able to dial in just what I wanted. And pairing it with a maestro midi controller I have all that I need and more
catalyst 200
Sounds Great. No damage in shipment and Jeff Bohan as always took car of everything. Why buy anywhere else? I have once and was sorry I did. Other places won't answer the phone and Sweetwater always does.

I play through mine every day.
I purchased this amp because of the sale price. At first I was put off by how complicated it could be. However once I learned how to just use manual controls this amp totally surprised me. It's among the best amps I have ever owned and I play through mine every day. Excellent tone, gobs of power and the 212 speakers are very good and project nicely. It's as good as a half or even a full stack, well almost.
Best Value & Best Customer Service
I was Looking for a Combo amp & the Competition
Had the Same Price.. I called & asked for a Sales Engineer... Cam Allen helped me.. he beat the Competition & was More Helpful & More Polite
Right Now I don't have a Lot of space... So it fits Perfectly in my Closet.. haven't had enough time with it Yet.. but it is a Clean & Powerful Amp
Loud & love it!
Jason Sain is an excellent Sales Engineer! He never fails to give excellent advice!
Fantastic Amp!
Line6 truly nailed this!
I've been recording with POD gear for years and my "POD Go" made my interface completely obsolete. When I found out that this amp also interfaces with your computer the same as "POD Go" I had to give it a shot... I am not disappointed!
I use LogicX and the amp interfaces seamlessly. It's basically a stripped down "mono" version of a POD with a nice little "boost" comp feature in front of your effect string. The amp doesn't need a display screen because the controls are so straight forward. However, from your DAW, you have absolute "real time" control with the editor app. The Catalyst 200 is plenty loud and punchy, but the attenuator allows for small room situations or just practice without sacrificing tone. The attenuator also has an "off" setting for interfacing so you can hear what you're truly recording.
If you're a home recording enthusiast, I highly recommend this amp!
Double Down !
I own 2 of these and ABY them. Keeping it short and sweet it's definitely a blast to play through and even the gear snobs I know have caved to liking them.
I bought this Line 6 Catalyst 200 amplifier because I wanted to try a Solid State Modeling amp. I had read it was amazing in the cleaner settings as a pedal platform.
I bought this Line 6 Catalyst 200 amplifier because I wanted to try a Solid State Modeling amp. And it wasn't a lot of money. I had read that it was amazing in the cleaner settings as a pedal platform. And it is. I've lost track of how many pedals I have, but they all sound great through the Catalyst.
I have 1 Supro 1696RTH Black Magick Reverb, 1 Mesa Boogie, 2 Vintage Fenders and 1 Vintage Gibson and 1 Line 6 Catalyst 200 amplifiers so far.
Sweetwater's Alden Debee is a great Sales Engineer and friend. He's helped me with every question I've had. From setting up my peddle board to selecting guitars.
Loud
very nice amp especially for the price, compliments my Helix
Better than expected, great bang for the price.
Performs better than expected. Doesn't really do super dirty modern high gain that well, but clean, crunch, blues, and classic high gain is great. Also amazing in the cleaner setting as a pedal platform for or favorite stomps. Running modeler into as just a power amp with no problems and a way to get those more modern high gains I like. 200w is More than enough power ( probably more than I need ) but it is always great to have that extra power boost when needed. Can be a bit fiddly getting your tones just right and saved on the amp it's self. Plug it into a computer and dial it on the editor and save them so much easier, and more options.
power cab and a decent backup amp
when used with a modeler(helix) , this pup really shines. I played a 1000$ powercab plus yesterday..... my 300 catalyst sounded just as good.... better even when volume is considered. if your looking at this as a way to amplify your modeler without sacrificing quality of tone.... pull the trigger.... it's awesome. so glad I tried a powercab before I bought one.... the catalyst is not a downgrade in anyway.... I did not get along with the PC's speaker modeling bidness.... frfr mode sounded great..... just like my catalyst... at a 3rd of the price
line 6 catalyst 200 watt 2x12
it is as advertised. in person the darker tone isn't necessarily like that.......this solid state has a good feel without the edgy highs you can have with other solid state amps. but you can make the amp bright if you really need to. the boost is a good option to have with what it will do. i haven't had a chance to record yet. once i do of course we'll use the app to dial in tones. good variety of tones to start with. i could use it to play out too. i'm fine with the effects. i've used the reverb so far. we'll see how they apply with recording. usually i use a pedal board. i like just a bit of delay with a bit of reverb to start with. with the app we'll see how the other effects can fit with the tone selections we use. i like the amp. glad i bought it. not heavy to take around either
Built like a tank
First of all I want to thank everyone at the sweetwater for being such a great online musical shopping platform.Everybody is so generous and very helpful towards their customers. Thanks Brian for guiding us through every step.
Now back to the point.
This amp is so awesome I just received it today and the moment I turned it on I was so impressed with the tone right away...It's simple doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles. The amp models are excellent especially the clean channels.I like the clean and chime...They just sound like an tube amp...The wattage attenuator switch works fine too..The effects and reverb is very real sounding. It also takes multi effect processors very well. I tried it with my zoom g3xn and it sounded pretty good.It also takes pedals very well especially the tube screamer when you have the amp set up on chime with right settings. If you want the best experience with these amps I would suggest get the 200 watt one because you can always control the sound output level with the attenuator switch on the back. The reason I'm saying about the 200 watt one because I feel that it has a wider sound compared to others. It sounds fuller to me with 2 speakers. The reverb sounds good with 2x12
You can also modify your tone using the line software.Line 6 has done an amazing job with these series. My mom got me this as a gift and Im writing this review for it
Best digital amp I've ever had
46 years playing experience. Best amp ever in this price point. Love my Fender Deluxe Reverb but for just plug and play any style, this is the best grab and go for the money.
excellent
Could not be better.
Catalyst 200
Affordable, great sounding, powerful. I am using it with the Helix. As usual the Sweetwater team was great from the moment they pick up the phone. Delivery took only 3 days. A great amp for simplicity.
Best Line 6 Tone/ Limited Features
Been a Line 6 user from the beginning. The Catalyst is the best sounding, most elegant looking Line 6 combo to date. However, the user interface is just too much. Between saving, sharing and uploading tones, I found it confusing. I find that only being able to use two effects at once too limiting. It would have been nice to be able to use a Line 6 floor board controller as well. No Bluetooth in this day in age is unfortunate and inconvenient.
I liked the Spider V MKII better. While the tone may not be up to par with the Catalyst. The user interface and options are worth it. The Catalyst will be sold.
