Electro-Harmonix Canyon Delay and Looper Pedal Reviews

Delay, Reverb, and Looper Pedal with 10 Delay Effects, 62 Seconds of Loop Length, Tap Tempo, and Secondary Controls

The EHX Canyon Delay/Looper is much more than meets the eye. Onboard you'll find ten time-based effects, such as a Deluxe Memory Man-style analog delay, a reverb with plenty of control for matching your needs, a 62-second looper, and much more. And they can all be controlled with onboard tap tempo. The four control knobs are FX Level, Delay, Feedback, and the effect selector, and like many other pedals from EHX, the Canyon packs a lot of extra tweakability and tones under the hood. If you need a ton of ambient power, but don't have much room left on the pedalboard, check out the EHX Canyon.

Small powerful and tons of options

I'm keeping this pedal! Works very well and sounds good. I did a video review on YouTube but you can find it on rumble as well.

Gorgeous Sound!

By Kevin from California on January 30, 2024 Music Background: Musician

Finally got this pedal and I'm stoked! Every setting is awesome, especially the shimmer and reverse. The EHX Canyon is everything that I hoped it would be. I'd highly recommend this pedal to anyone and everyone!

Perfect match for my EHX Oceans 11

By Bernie Kornowicz from Newington, CT on March 27, 2023

I bought this pedal for the delay options, but the simple looper is a plus. Like all EHX pedals, this one is built solid and has loads of features. Combining it with the Oceans 11 gives you so many interesting sounds that it's easy to get lost for hours.

Such a good pedal :)

By Robert Jeffries from Chicago, IL on January 23, 2023

I like this pedal so much that I got a second one. Secondary functions are totally worth exploring, especially with the DMM, tape, and octave types. The octave delay can transform into an awesome harpsichord/organ sound. I also love the reverb, but now I have an Oceans 12.

AMAZING EHX PEDAL

By Fuzzy Biggs from The Great State Of TEXAS on December 14, 2022 Music Background: Studio owner Engr, Foh Engr , Guitar for many years, Rock/ Metal

I have another brand delay pedal, and it was time for something better, and this is it. EHX must have some of the best minds in the business. I don't know how they did it, not just delays, the shimmer is beautiful. and a lot of different types of delays to choose from and a lot of control. this will make sound better than I really am. I have used EHX pedals since 1969. and they honor there warranty, great company. it would be a trip to get inside Mike Mathews mind for a preview of what is coming next. he is the original thinker in this field, all the others hang on his coat tails. as always Sweetwater takes care of you. ROCK ON.

By Timothy Horne from ASHLAND, KY on November 3, 2022

I initially was out looking for a BOSS DD-8 digital reverb but the shop did not carry BOSS Pedals, so, he recommended that I try the Electro-Harmonix Canyon. I added it to my Sweetwater purchased pedal board and the group of effects that I have on the board. I ran it to the Fender Deluxe Reverb re-issue amp and connected an American Fender 60th Anniversary Tele and started going through all of the possibilities of configurations. I set the FX to SHIM and set the LVL at about 11 o'clock. I was in my own state of tranquility. The swell on each and every chord and note is just mind blowing. The technology in this effect pedal is well worth the money even if you are not a Don Felder, you will be amazed at how good this makes you sound. This thing is great.

EHX Canyon

By Robert from OH on January 9, 2021

I was never much of a delay person until I got the EHX Canyon. This pedal packs a lot of punch into one pedal although I probably won't use the looper and a couple of the effects seem gimmicky but the others are great. I especially like the Echo, Memory Man and Tape among others but the Reverse Delay is my favorite. It's quickly become a staple in parts of almost all of my songs since day one of owning. Still playing around with this, a lot of fun and unique sounds but that reverse delay really has me intrigued. Get it now, set it to reverse and see what I mean...naem I tahw ees

Very Satisfied.

I've only had this device for a couple of days and I'm already using it in recording! Very cool versatile delays and more. I'm running a Mod 11, Hot Wax, Pitch Fork, and Attack / Decay through this thing and it all sounds good!

EHX Canyon Delay/Looper

By John from South Florida on March 18, 2020 Music Background: 50+ years guitar/bass/sousaphone performing professionally

I haven't tried the looper yet I must admit, but the delay/reverb is superb. I love the fact that you have separate controls for the delay and the reverb so you can dial in as much or as little of each on their own. I got this pedal for one specific effect for two songs my band does that require it and so far this unit has delivered.

Very well made, solid, noiseless. This is a professional quality product right out of the box, no need to send it out for mods or tweaks.

Swiss Army Knife of DELAYS

By GuitarMan84 from TEMECULA, CA on August 4, 2019

It's a fantastic piece of equipment, a desert island pedal, in my opinion! I love the reverse on this thing, moreso than that of my Boss DD7. Sounds warm and instantly inspiring. I run my Boss delay into it, so maybe that's why I don't experience any volume loss. Quite the opposite happens. With the FX level raised, there is a bump in overall volume. Might be because Boss pedals are buffered (and so is my fx loop). Shimmer is one of my favorite settings as well, great for ambient tones (especially if you're already sending a delayed signal into it). The octave setting sounds pretty cool too, especially if you're running a sub octave pedal like an OC-3. You can cover the whole range! Just, too much good stuff. The looper is the only weak setting. Get a ditto looper instead as I'm sure you'll want to capture all of the Canyon's great tones.

By Sweetwater Customer on July 1, 2019

Fantastic little pedal. I was looking for a stand alone reverb pedal but read about everything else this pedal can do and thought I"d give it a try. What really surprised me is how much I love the looper. It"s something I didn"t know I wanted until I checked it out. Way cool. I highly recommend checking it out!

EHX Canyy

By Marc from Blairstown, NJ on June 17, 2019

This pedal is awesome and is really involved for such a small pedal. I"m still getting the hang of it. Mostly with the looper. Tons of options and tones. Came with a power supply which was very nice. I should be set for delay on my pedal board for a very long time.

Sounds great on bass too

This pedal is loaded

By Rob Agnello on February 11, 2019 Music Background: Producer, engineer, artist

I`m having a ton of fun with this pedal. It is absolutely loaded with features and like EH stuff does it sounds great. I used it for a gig last night playing for a music meditation group and is was a perfect fit helping to create textures and soundscapes and then dial back just a little for more traditional playing. The only drawback is you cannot play through the effects while using the looper function.

So much and many sounds in a little device.

By Richard from Simpsonville SC on February 6, 2019

So much and many sounds in a little device works great, integrates smoothly with my Reverb and Compressor Sustainer pedals. Good quality product worth the price.

Soooo Gooood

By Sweetwater Customer on February 6, 2019

Absolutely love it. I use it as a tabletop pedal and tap it with my hand so I can throw the feedback all the way up and warp the delay, sounds crazy.

Very useful pedal

By Musician / composer from Los Angeles area on December 27, 2018

Worth it for the Verb/Delay, Tape Delay, and Deluxe Memory Man emulations. Other settings, icing on the cake. Explore the "hidden" secondary knob functions to really fine-tune the effects to your liking.

Changes everything

By J from R on December 1, 2018 Music Background: Hobbyist

EHX has several famous modulations effects like the Memory Man and the Holy Grail. When it came to delays, I liked having a variety of options. The TC Flashbox X4 got close but the sound quality was always too digital and cold for my liking. I tried the Canyon on a whim and WOW!! This pedal is the end all be all for my delay needs. It's warm and I can get such a variety of tones out of it. I can get reverb sounds that work for surf, I can get a traditional delay, I can get a memory man delay. It's obvious that they put their best work into this pedal. It's been a game changer for me. In the past, I tended to believe that pedals that did multiple things did them all poorly; and that it was better to stick to a pedal that does 1 thing good. But this pedal has proven me wrong. It is the single most amazing pedal that I own.

This Pedal Slaps

If you"ve ever shouted into a canyon, you might have high expectations for this pedal. Lemme tell you tho, this pedal is like shouting into a golden canyon on Mars while you admire the beauty of an otherworldly moon above your head and take the last few puffs of space grass.
Literally out of this world.

One Of The Most Inspiring Dealys Out There...

By Bill Mallonee on August 4, 2018 Music Background: Professional singer/songwriter, guitarist & recording artist for 30 years.

This is my 7th EHX pedal. They're all amazing. The Mel-9, the Soul Food, and the Electric Mistress just deliver over and over an inspiration that I love. As a songwriter & recording artist, I find this to be one of the most inspiring pedals I have ever come across.

Enter The Canyon:
The Canyon is a no nonsense/incredibly intuitive pedal. Sure there's a manual, but even if you just unbox it and start "digging in," the treasures will unfold quickly.
I've had the EHX Canyon on my pedal board for my last 3 albums. The Octave, Shimmer, Tape Echo & Deluxe Memory man emulations are brilliant & tend to be my personal favs, but every thing here is highly usable. Nothing digital sounding about any of them at all.
Gorgeous & regal & full of rock & roll soul.

Bravo, Electro-Harmonix
Long-time rep, Aaron Regenold, fanswered my questions and got this out the door in in excellent fashion.

Cool Pedal

Great sounds - for a small pedal!

Jack of all trades

By Marion Campbell on July 28, 2018

I have a boutique reverb that has a bit more to it ( but it does not have the tap for 8ths and 16ths)
. I quickly learned to run it through another channel and make a more complicated sweep of reverbs. I found that the octave echo set close and one repeat and then modulate it Phase, Flange, Roto-Vibe, etc, and you have a Hammond Organ sound.
I find myself wishing that I could use more than one selection (loop, reverse echo, e.g.), so this effect is one of two effects of a certain type. This instantly could add to a chain and have a second reverb, a second delay, a second octave and all in one box. If you wanted to go with a small pedalboard, this one pedal could replace a number of devices.
I have mostly been going for sustain and ambience, but I tried for choppy short notes. I put a compressor and set the attack up and sustain down. Then, on the Canyon, I pushed the little button twice to make the notes 16ths. After that, I set a tremelo on a "hard" setting. you can get some choppy, short notes that way.

Awesome!

What a steal! This small pedal packs a serious punch! Just unboxed and hooked up a couple days ago, and starting getting some spectacular results in the first few minutes - by just doodling around..

Love the product, and would highly recommend!

My Fav

By Bill Schletzer from Minnesota on June 17, 2018 Music Background: primitive amateur

Had to have this after watching the demos. Love the shimmering octaves and dreamy reverb and modulated delay. But put this in the multi mode, turn the feedback up to one o'clock and the delay down to nearly off. Wow, what a funking tone playing my PRS through a Boogie. Grease. I've bought about a dozen pedals this year and this is easily the funnest. I'm more or less replacing a TC Flashback, which I still like for the slapback and just to give a little sweetening. Like others said, just turn it on, spin the mode selector and start noodlin'.

I just got the EHX Canyon tonight from Sweetwater via FEDEX and just spent an hour checking it out! Th EHX is a very deeply versatile pedal that is also good at its basic delay function. You can get a chorus sound and a reverb sound to die for, in addition to the delay, delay variations and looper. The shimmer feature is a welcome and musical (in moderation) addition. And I love the Deluxe Memory Man emulation. This will be my "go to" delay sound for quite a lot of musical moments. And a silent non clicking foot switch and tap tempo as well??? Oh, MY!!! EHX knocked it out of the park with this pedal! Plus ,it"s beautiful looking! Also, kudos to Nick LaMendola for his fast service!! It"s the perfect Father"s Day gift!!

Great for Worship Board

By Dan from So ILL on February 25, 2018

Added this to worship board and bought additional tap... This adds a great shimmer effect to bring ambience. Turn delay time down and feedback up and use as a reverb or tap it in. Stack with another delay for swells. After going through many pedals for secondary delay I am sold on the canyon. And for the price and Sweetwater 30 day guarantee..pull the trigger

I love this little guy. Great options for a wide variety of effects. I'm leaning heavily on the octave setting for "fake keyboard" needs, but I look forward to spinning the dial for the studio possibilities of add-on frills.

Great Delay!

Best Delay in the market

By Edward Deang from Edmonds, WA on August 10, 2017 Music Background: Guitar player for 20 years

I've owned various delay pedals such as Akai, BOSS, DIGITECH, MXR, Quantum Leap and tried the Strymon Timeline pedal. This pedal has a lot of features and great sound quality for the price. I love the tap tempo feature and the easy/quick access "divide button" to switch to quarter or dotted time based on your set tempo which is indicated by the light too. I think EHX is an amazing company in coming up with high quality pedals with cool new features and listens to musicians like me who wants to see and hear the quality of the products for the actual value that I'm paying for.

Best delay pedal I've owned thus far!

By joeyjoejoe from Pennsylvania on July 31, 2017 Music Background: Songwriter, instrumentalist, recording artist, producer (18+years)

As soon as I saw the first video promoting the Canyon delay pedal, I knew I just had to have it! I preordered ASAP and was beyond impressed by the service Sweetwater provides, as always =D

If I had one mild criticism it would be that the preset selector knob is a bit on the flimsy side and unless I dial in from one end or the other it makes it hard to tell which preset I was previously using; not worth subtracting any points for such a versatile pedal at such an affordable price.

The two gems for me are the Shimmer and Cascading Octave presets, though I use all of them. The tap tempo option is really useful instead of trying to dial in the right timing for the delay. I use a cheap keyboard sustain pedal to get the job done for now and that's worked fairly well.

What I end up using the least is the looper, simply because I have a TC ditto in my chain as well.

Nice Delay Pedal

By Dale from Hillsborough N.J. on July 20, 2017

I just have it set for a kind of Slap-Back Delay. It seems more transparent and less dark than my Boss Delay on the other pedal board.

Absolutely amazing

By Adrian from Chicago on June 24, 2017 Music Background: Indie rock, shoegaze

Tried this out at my local guitar shop and in 10 minutes I was already blown away. Even the workers at the shop would stop and watch me play it in awe. Like they bought the pedal and had no idea what it sounded like! Sold it to me brand new with the box and everything for $115 and I couldn't be happier. READ THE MANUAL because I would never have known about the secondary mode or exactly what each mode did. The manual is great and explains everything in detail. Can't wait to show off to my guitar buddies when I bust this baby out.

Your imagination is the limit with this pedal

By Andrew from Denver on May 12, 2017

I've have had the canyon delay for about a month and even after hours with this pedal I'm still discovering new sounds. With the secondary knob function the sounds you can create are near limitless. You can go from the most subtle of delays to far out cosmic sounds. My keyboard sounds great played through it too. Oh, and it has the best reverse delay I ever heard.

One suggestion for anyone who owns this pedal: experiment playing with only the wet signal and the delay knob turned all the way to the left. You can turn the canyon into a modulation pedal. Or a unique sounding distortion while in the tape mode. Use the secondary knob controls change the tone. This pedal is ripe for experimentation.

Many Pedals in one

By Stoptheclocks on May 10, 2017

This pedal is great and is a great value because of all you get. Love the delays and reverb as well as the looper. You will need your manual because you will want to get the most of use out of the pedal. Highly recommend the EHX pedal if you are looking for some special delay effects and reverb. Its absolutely worth the money.

Hands down best pedal I've ever set foot on. So versatile, compact, tweakable, affordable, incredible.....the shimmer sound will blow you away. I'm a huge fan of the reverse, reverb, octave, and tape delay modes as well. I've been an EHX fanboy for two years and they've been consistently putting out great products this year, can't wait to see what's next from them. Thanks to Sweetwater for making my entire consumer experience hassle free. I pre-ordered this beauty the day it was announced and my man Clint B. made sure I got it as soon as it came in. Thanks again!

This box is an incredible value considering the quality and quantity of effects you can dial into this small footprint pedal. I just got mine and can tell there are many usable effects I can use and many more to explore as time goes by.

Even if you find one or 2 effects you actually use regularly it is a bargain. The treasures are sure to be found when you go DEEP into THE CANYON! For me the Deluxe Memory Man and Shimmer settings alone are worth the price of admission.

Call Mike Picotte and order now and tell him JB sent you! Thanks Mike, great service as always!

Amazingly unlimited

By Bill K. from NY - New York on April 3, 2017

Had it a few days, but it may take weeks to tap into all the potential sounds. The reverb is off the charts in versatility, and the delay varieties seem limitless. The shimmer settings will bend your brain, as will the deluxe memory man, the tape echo emulation is spot on to my old Space Echo. Oh yeah, a sixty second Looper with auto save will enhance the fun. By all means, watch the you tube demo, and you get the picture of just some of wow this pedal delivers. When I first watched the demo, I figured this to be priced in the B9 C9 range of $220. Watch the demo, then call Sweetwater. You'll get it quickly, and they'll make sure you're as pleased as I am!

Ordered on Friday, delivered on Monday, in typical, outstanding, Sweetwater fashion.

Amazing Functionality and Incredible Versatility

By Jacob on October 18, 2020 Music Background: I've played trombone for a long time and picked up guitar a couple years ago.

The Electro-Harmonix Canyon has so many functions and it offers a really big range of tone control. So much so that this paired with any old distortion pedal, is all I need as a amateur guitar player.

While it is was originally a little over my price range, it was definitely worth it and I wouldn't trade it in except for one with the issues I mention next.

There are a few issues that I would like to see fixed. First, the knobs become out of alignment with the middle settings way to easily and for the delay and feedback knobs when I turn the pedal off and on again, sometimes the knobs havent moved but the feedback and the delay are slightly different than before. Its not a huge deal but something I would like to see fixed.

My favorite functions are the Deluxe Multi-Man clone, the Tape-Delay the VERB and the shimmer. The tone range for those settings are extremely nice and iconic.

Great variety and tone!

By Logan on August 21, 2019

This pedal is tons of fun! As with a lot of EHX pedals, the best feature of the Canyon is the sheer variety of sounds built into it. You don"t just get standard delays; you can also get a lot of unusual and just plain weird sounds out of it. For example, using the Octave setting and backing the Feedback knob almost all the way off can produce something close to an octave pedal or a 12-string simulator, or you can add in more feedback and let the octaves cascade up in waves. The Tape and Reverse channels are two of my favorites. As with some other EHX pedals, with all of the options come a couple that aren"t super useful (personally, I never use the Verb setting or the Looper function), but there"s definitely something for everybody. I bought this pedal before the Grand Canyon came out, and part of me wishes that I had waited to buy that instead, but the Canyon is still super versatile and fun!

Good, basic delay pedal

By fjk1138 on February 2, 2019 Music Background: Musician for 35 years

In researching for a basic, yet good sounding delay pedal I chose this one as it fits the bill perfectly. The sound quality is very good with no noticeable hum or noise. I only wish it had either a digital readout for showing the milliseconds of delay and/or a switch of dedicated times (200 ms, 500 ms, etc), but ehh you get what you pay for.

Other than the delay there is actually a rather nice sounding hall reverb on this pedal which was a nice surprise, and you can turn off the delay from that sound to use the reverb by itself if you want to.

The only real issue I notice with this pedal was while running it thru the FX of my Mesa Mark V25 was that when activating the pedal there was a short but very noticeable volume dip, so I am taking off 1/2 a star for that. I can live with that issue, but for gigging musicians who regularly turn delay on and off might want to be aware.

Otherwise, this is a great pedal and I love how simple it is to use.

Best delay i ever owned

By Greg Nelson from Northport, alabama on October 31, 2018 Music Background: Amateur songwriter

Awesome delay....it seems that electro-harmonix is here to humiliate other pedal companies, which, in THIS day in time, may be considered "bullying", with a delay this fine.
Only 1 downside: the size of the lettering on the selector knobs....i have to be pretty close to it in order to read the words...if u can stand above the pedal, look down and read the words, you are part chicken-hawk.
But its not built to be a chalkboard....its a delay pedal, and that part of it kicks a**.

Worth the Price

By Sweetwater Customer on February 24, 2018

This is an excellent value. Some of the modes are better and/or more useful than others, but even if you took out some of the stranger modes it'd be a great deal. Having said this I do have some complaints. It really should be stereo, for one. Also, the standard digital and the modulated delay are the same except the modulated one has secondary controls for the modulation, and the digital one has no secondary controls at all. This means these could have been combined into one mode because they are essentially the same thing. Really though these complaints are minor for the amount of things this pedal does. Delay, reverb, chorus, tape distortion, octaver, shimmer, looping, vibrato and even some pseudo-ringmod tones if you set it carefully. It's more of a multi-effect pedal than just a delay!

Great, all-around delay

By Byron Fry from CA on August 26, 2017

I replaced a larger, more expensive unit with the EH Canyon because the old unit's tap tempo design was dumb. The Canyon gets great sound, has great response to the tap tempo and for the small size and price, it's a no-brainer for any board.
The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that I run line signal through it on the FX loop, and I find that the delay level knob is really touchy.

Almost great, very close.

By Sweetwater Customer on August 24, 2017

I'll start with the only bummer for me. You cannot use any of the sounds while using the looper. To switch to it, you turn all others off.

Now for the good. Everything else. Digital Memory Man is great. Tape is, too. Heck, good sounds can be found in every mode. This blends great with my DD3 delay and my Polara reverb.

You gotta read the manual, though. All the best sounds come when manipulating the secondary (hidden) parameters.

If you have to play Taps, Revelry, or even Bach for any reason, the octave will give you a nice organ when dialed in just right.

Endless sounds. Great pedal for my taste.

simple to use , sounds great

Great product, small footprint. Speaks for itself.

Impressive and versatile nano pedal capabilities

By Eric Fisher from West Lafayette, Indiana on May 21, 2017

This devise will take a little time to figure out due to its versatility. I was looking to get back to some simple delay functions for leads and special effect intro playing and when I saw the Electro-Harmonix Canyon video (complete with sweeping vistas of the Grand Canyon while the effect is being demonstrated - cool!) I had to have it!

My previous (aka, back in the day) gear was a Digitech GPS-21 rack delay and also an original Deluxe Memory Man, so the analog sounds seemed a natural fit my 70's-revival hard rock. If you like things simple onstage, beware, this little guy has 10 delay modes (with 3-second capability) plus a looper, which I've not even tried to unravel yet. However, the versatility is amazing, with stock echo and modulated delay, octave generation, reverse delay (my favorite, it freaks everyone out) and a very good simulation of the old Memory Man as well as tape delay complete with secondary decay settings with the tap switch.

Overall, any guitarist (or bassist) needing a good do-it-all sampling delay and looper should consider the Canyon. I wear by EHX's old models, this just kind of snuck up on me but the array of effects it can produce (including the shimmer mode - take that King Crimson!) My only complaint is not the complexity of the device or its secondary settings - the controls are quite logically laid out, but rather stuffing it all into the usual 'nano' pedalboard housing; it's really hard to see the mode labels under stage lights and the knobs are way too close together to get your fingers between next to the old analog EHX models.

That's progress for you, but it's great and usable value by the pedal geniuses at Electro-Harmonix so 4.5 stars.

Very nice

By Sweetwater Customer on April 8, 2017

I love the shimmer effect and the sample and hold. Love the control you have with the feedback

Great Pedal

By Sweetwater Customer on March 29, 2023

First, you must use the included power supply, which is 9.6 volts, otherwise the pedal won't boot up properly. Once I figured that out, pedal is lovely. I particularly like.the Deluxe Memory Man setting, and the tape delay. Shimmer is.a fun, spacey effect. Took me around 5 minutes to dial in Happiest Days of our Lives.

This has such a variety of effects. It is a lot of things, just not the boutique variety of it.nevertheless, it is a nice bunch of differing signal changes. You can really push the knobs and get some wonky sounds that can be creatively used.
My device seemed touchy about plugging in the cables. Even moreso, it was touchy about power plugs. An accidental bump caused loud amp noise, lights flashing on and off/ changing color, and sometimes shutting down for a while. I think that yesterday's attempt to move the pedal over may have been it's last gasp.
The little device had several delay/echos of different type, a backwards echo, modulation devices, octave doubler, and a looper:.a lot of bang for your buck..... If it continues to play.hmmm a3? A4?

Good pedal but has issue

By Sweetwater Customer on November 1, 2020

This is a great sounding pedal. Has many cool features, but it has an internal biasing issue that requires non standard operating voltage. It can't run on 9V. It needs 9.6V otherwise it will turn itself off and on at will. So you have to use the power adapter that came with it. When new it will run on 9V, but after a while it will start turning off and on in the middle of your session. Just keep that in mind.

Full of features

By Adam from Fayettevillle, AR on March 12, 2019

I bought this without playing it, looking for a modern replacement for the discontinued Boss DV-3 Reverb/Delay. There are some sweet sounds in here, and the loop is a nice addition. It seems a little confusing at first because there are "hidden" modulations but once I got the hang it became a piece of cake. My only complaint is that I wish I had bought the Grand Canyon instead, but at this price point I think I got a steal on it.

Worth the price

Pretty cool. The effects can be dialed in from barely there to over the top, and the pedal itself produces no unwanted hum or anything, even at low levels.

A delay pedal that can do multiple things e excellent delay pedal

Canyon Delay

By Sweetwater Customer from Louisiana on June 20, 2018 Music Background: Long time guitarist in gospel, country, southern rock sounds

I really like this little delay. I was able to get great sounds without using the manual. (That's always a huge plus!) The various delay types and functions give you a wide range of sounds to choose from. The footprint is awesome! It came with a 9V supply, and when I was trying out the pedal, it was readily apparent that the pedal is super clean! No hum or distortion added that I could hear!

On the negative side, the text should be black to make it easier to read. The red graphics just do not stand out, and make it hard to see which function you're selecting. That's about it for negative thoughts!

One-man army

By Vash on April 21, 2018 Music Background: 10 years Guitarist/Vocalist

If this pedal was on a battlefield, it could take down the enemy, stitch them back up, make them an ally, and fight a whole new battle together.

But that said, one drawback-- in a way. You can't use the effects of the Canyon with its Looper function, and you can't let the Looper run while you use other effects. So.. something like that would be cool for a V2.

Excellent Versatile Delay

By Sweetwater Customer on August 29, 2017

This little delay is extremely versatile and sounds amazing. With the secondary features, you can really fine tune the individual delays to your liking. The reverb sounds fantastic and you can adjust the length, tone and pre delay. I only wish there was a tone control for the DMM and Tape but this being really picky. For the price, this is a fantastic pedal. Allows for some very creative moments.

Canyon Electro-Harmonix Delay & Looper Pedal

By Sweetwater Customer on May 31, 2017

I have been waiting for a pedal just like this one. This pedal has a great mix of sounds-not one I don't like and it allows for easy and tasteful mixing. It gels nicely with guitar sounds. A++ gear!

Electro Harmonix Canyon delay looper

By Peter Thomas from Oregon on May 16, 2017 Music Background: Classical guitarist, prog. rocker and synthesist

This is an excellent piece of equipment that will quickly become a favorite once you start using it. Each delay is a good version of that delay type and the options are wide ranging. Whatever sound you are looking for you can dial up and tweaking w/ the secondary controls really gets things interesting. Easy to use and w/ quality sound this affordable delay/ looper was just what I expected from a company known for high quality imaginative effects. I am already considering buying another one.

Outstanding Delay but Hard to see

By Andrew Kirk from Powder Springs, GA on January 12, 2024 Music Background: A decade of live touring original music, an album release and cover bands.

I used strictly Boss delays for years and kept upgrading them when newer releases were available. I can say that this one may one up my Boss experience in sound. My only gripe is in the live setting it is extremely hard to see due to the white casing and small, red lettering. I've toured and played all kinds of dark clubs and this thing really pissed me off when i needed to reach down and change a setting for the next track. If they made a black casing and white lettering version with the same logo I'd be fine with it. STOKED actually. Just sucks when you can't see your options when your playing live! I also have good vision taboot. so thats my two cents. It's that big of a deal to me so I give it 3.5 stars. Harsh i know.

Bang for the buck

By David Caris from LA, CA on April 14, 2018 Music Background: professional player

Sounds great and is compact. Very hard to read which delay/effect you have selected. Tiny writing, and you really need to use it with a tap tempo which will increase the footprint on your board. There are also no presets, so you need to bend down to switch the effect which is cumbersome and unprofessional looking when gigging. When you do this on stage with poor lighting you will need to memorize which position to switch to. The sounds are very good. The shimmer is NOT as good as a Strymon or Nuenaber but it's well-priced. I do like it for my smaller pedal board, but it may end up getting replaced with a Source Audio Nemesis Delay.

Pretty Rad!

By Sweetwater Customer on December 12, 2018

Very handy! Except when the looper is going, and your playing over top, they kind of phase each other out. Worked a bit better w 2 amps. Still a super fun pedal and I"m still satisfied w my purchase.

nice pedal, poorly made

By Theodore MacAulay on August 30, 2018

This pedal sounds great but the knobs are hella loose and the manual does a feeble job describing how to actually get mileage out of some of the various options. Furthermore the actual on/off switch is weirdly finicky, you can set the delay either using the delay knob or by tapping and I've had it double tap and ignore the knob setting in favor of my tapped tempo (I swear I only hit it once) when I tried to turn the pedal on in the middle of a performance.

Looper is meh but the effects are great

By Sweetwater Customer on January 6, 2021

The looper is a little annoying because when the loop restarts it stops for maybe half a second and then restarts. This throws off the timing if you just want to play over a riff. Other than that it is solid as a delay pedal.

don't use the looper,EVER

By Sweetwater Customer from CT on August 9, 2022 Music Background: professional musican

i had this pedal for over 3 years.i never used the looper function, but after three years i checked it out.and it completely destroyed the pedal.
every fuction broke down.now the pedal stays on the red and the mode switch and tap tempo don't do a thing, thus distorting most effects.it's a seasick mess.
HOWEVER i'll get another new canyon and baby it.i just think the sounds coming out of this pedal are great.better then my joyo atmosphere pedal or boss rv-6 pedal.

A little too much...

By Sweetwater Customer from Los Angeles on May 12, 2017

The build quality of this pedal is superb. However, for me personally, it does not fit well with some styles of playing. It's a bit too over-the-top for me. Secondly, it didn't pair well with my pedals. Even at the end of the chain, where delay is supposed to be, it muddied the signal. I think you would be better off with a good, standard analog delay pedal and some reverb. Just my opinion, but I returned it.

I didn't like it

By Steve from Staten Island, New York on May 19, 2017

There are some who may find the Canyon by Electro Harmonics to their liking but for me It's too over the top. I am thankful I made this purchase from Sweetwater because of their great staff and fair return policy.
