Almost Perfect!

By Jim Colby from Howey In The Hills, FL on March 30, 2023 Music Background: Surf Guitar

Just got this amp a couple of weeks ago for my home studio. They say the sign of any good tool is that it inspires you to create, and this amp is no exception. The tones I am able to coax from it are exceptional. You can go anywhere from a vintage Fender Deluxe , to a nice clean Vox sound very easily. The reverb is lush and springy , sounds like the little brother of a 63 reverb tank. At very low volumes I ran my bass through it and was getting a very convincing Ampeg B 15 tone out of it.
Solidly built, the craftsmanship is top notch. But as I said almost perfect. First off a foot switch for the reverb would help instead of making it an add-on. At this price point it really should be a no brained. Secondly the Ulti-Watt selector pops loudly when switching a fairly common problem for Mesas. The workaround is to put it on standby to avoid speaker damage. Those two complaints aside it is one heck of an amp!
