The Perfect Amp

By Kyle Graham from Nashville on September 26, 2023 Music Background: Professional, Private Instructor

I've had this amp for a few months now and have used it for live shows, home recordings, and virtual lessons. This covers all necessary grounds and has incredible headroom and dirt tones (thanks in large part to the power attenuation). Part of the draw for this amp is how lightweight it is, even compared to my 5 watt amps; schlepping this is the least painful experience I've had in some time. I couldn't be happier with this amp and look forward to many more years of use. Thanks Jon Mostacato for the help!

Perfect pedal platform, grab and go amp for small gigs

By Bill from Denver, CO on December 5, 2022 Music Background: 45 years in rock bands

It's basically a Fender '57 Tweed amp with reverb, effects loop, and a master volume. Switches from 20 to 10 to 1 watt. Only 26 lbs (really, a Mesa that light!), but it sounds pretty "big" for its size. Awesome with pedals or can get pretty gritty on its own.

It's hard to find something low-wattage and lightweight that has clean headroom. I tried several 5w amps, and they break up too fast. I looked at the Carr Mercury, but too heavy for 8 watts. The Fender '57 Tweed sounds great but has no master volume, so too loud and has no effects loop or reverb. I tried the Swart Spacetone 15w, about the same price, it has nice reverb, but it sounded boxy with the small cab.

The Mesa is just right for small gigs and practices, and the variable wattage makes it very versatile.

My new favorite amp!

By Daniel Defoe from Paris, KY on November 18, 2022

As long as you're a fan of very "immediate" amps, this is the way to go.

It's as up-front on every note as you can get. I have it running in stereo with my Marshall Astoria. The Tweed is set for mid-range attack with the Astoria giving bottom end and bloom. Sounds amazing with Fender, Gibson, Ric, PRS, straight-in or with effects.

Awesome amp that's both simple and really fun. Sounds absolutely beautiful!

Perfect for my needs!

By Chad from Fort Wayne, IN on August 1, 2022 Music Background: It ain’t great

My wife and daughter are sensitive to loud noises and the 1w option on this allows me to play with a full range of sound without bringing their wrath down on me. When they are out on walks, or leave the house, I can turn it up to 20w and jam out to my hearts content. I was wondering if I would be upset losing a little low end going with the 10" speaker over the 12" and I can say I am perfectly happy with this setup.

There isn't much loss at all in sound when switching between 1/10/20w. The reverb is beautiful and it'll go from clean to dirty fine without pedals. I haven't run it with pedals so I can't comment there, but from the video reviews I watched prior to watching, it'll run pedals excellent.

I love it enough I've been thinking of purchasing a second one for my sunroom so I don't need to drag my current one up from the basement. Could not be happier.

Grab n Go - But Bring Your Pedals

If you're looking for a high quality, low wattage, lightweight, clean, Fender style amp with attenuation and an FX loop, stop reading. This will fit the bill perfectly.

The Cali Tweed 2:20 is great practice amp. We're talking handwired Princeton type quality. It's probably all you need for rehearsals. But if you're playing gigs and not mic'ing up every time, buy the higher power version. I kinda wish I would have. This is not a loud amp - it performs well under its 20 watt rating, IMHO. Even the 20 watt setting with the Master cranked is just barely enough. It runs out of juice - but in its defense, so does my Tweed Deluxe. They are what they are. They're studio and practice amps. But this one has a nice FX loop and an attenuator. When you dint have a lot of wattage, you'll want a pristine Fx loop.

So, if your goal is a great amp that you can drive to saturation for around the house jamming or home studio recording, highly recommend! If you're looking at this for gigs, buy it's big brother.

Little Monster of an amp

By DTFM from Southwest desert on March 1, 2023 Music Background: Intermediate Hobbiest

Boogie tone and quality in a compact pkg.
I'm so turned off by heavy weight amps
This one fits the "my back is killing me" niche.
A little pricy, but worth it IMHO
