Gibson Acoustic 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo Acoustic Guitar - Vintage Sunburst VOS Reviews
Patterned after the iconic J-45 platform from the Gibson Round Shoulder series, the 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo hits on many of the J-45 features while blazing a trail all its own. A long-favored acoustic among the blues and country crowd, the Southern Jumbo is known for its deep, thick tone that hovers beautifully between midrange and low end while still allowing a sweet high-end to ring through. This signature sound emerges from the pairing of quality, hand-selected, Thermally Aged Red spruce for the top and rosewood for the back and sides. A classic tiger stripe pickguard rounds out the vintage look and styling. Grab a Southern Jumbo, hit a fat E chord, and hear why so many acoustic enthusiasts here at Sweetwater love this guitar.

Louder than the Martins
Awesome colour
Its a great sounding guitar. Warmth sound
A case for the tuners.
Same here. A great guitar let down by the case and tuners. I would like to know if the tuners could be replaced by Waverly tuners without any modifications.
2nd review
I left not a great review on this guitar a couple months ago mainly due to the case and the tuners. excluding those two items this is actually a pretty good guitar and if your a bluegrass player or someone who really prefers the prewar Martin tone this would be a great alternative. again my main issue was that for the cost of this guitar the tuners and case are not good. the case won't even latched close im not sure if it was just manufactured incorrectly or what the deal is but the modern gibson cases are so much better while still retaining vintage vibe.although I did actually get a modern gibson studio with the same case problem so maybe gibson quality control is just starting to go back down where it was before new mgmt. same with the tuners kluson hummingbird style tuners or silver grovers like on the standard j45 would both be great working tuners that are still vintage styled and actually work. my only other complaint really is that I actually prefer the tone of 50s Gibsons and that more muted compressed slightly dead vibe and as I mentioned this guitar is really a pre war cannon more so than what most people think of when they think gibson acoustic.
