Mackie CR5-XBT
These speakers work as described. A perfect choice for a home studio
Work great for large spaces too!
I bought two pair of these for two roughly 30'x 20' dance studio rooms and I am THRILLED. They put out enough sound (even low end) for the entire room with ability to push even further if the situation calls for it. For the money, these are about the best you can get for providing audio in a dance studio setting.
I cannot recommend these speakers enough!
Was originally looking for a pair of bookshelf speakers to play records through. My musician friends directed me to spend my money on studio monitors instead. Finally decided on Mackie because I know they make high quality products and these seemed to have better lows than other brands based on the versus videos on YouTube.
Some of the negative reviews had me worried, but I've had my speakers for over a week now and I don't have a single complaint. There is no feedback as some people have reported and I've had no problem connecting my Android device to Bluetooth either. I was worried the 5's wouldn't be loud enough, but they are louder than I will ever need. Decided to get the subwoofer too.
I cannot recommend these speakers enough!
Big Sound, Low Price Studio Speakers
Big sound for your buck! Full range of sounds, multiple inputs, Bluetooth capability, quality cabinets, two year included warranty, free shipping. Why would you buy from anybody else.
Thank you Sweetwater!
Amazing
I use these to play music that I play along with on my guitar. The sound is unbelievable. Not to mention they look great. Set up couldn't be easier. Looking forward to getting the Mackie bluetooth sub woofer to complete the set.
Geniales
Las compre y tienen buena calidad de audio si compro otras serán de las misma sin duda alguna bien por mackie
Sounds great
setup was easy and hooked them up on my computer they do sound great. Have not used the Bluetooth yet. But they are great speakers just wish they were a little louder. But they are great. Not my first set. I have mac 3 and they are smaller.
Mackie CR5-XBT 5" Multimedia Monitors with Bluetooth
These little speakers sound really good. Response seems very even and the bass frequencies (I play an upright acoustic) sound true and tight. Have not yet tried the Bluetooth as they are right on my desk flanking the computer screen.
Many thoughtful features
I am using these speakers to replace a set of computer speakers that were in use for quite a long time. There were two small satellite speakers and a subwoofer on the flooe.
I have a set of mid-priced studio monitors for my home studio and was not expecting these speakers to have the same specifications. However, I am quite pleased that they have exceeded my expectations.
There are a number of thoughtful features that make the monitors easy to use. I didn't expect to use the Bluetooth connectivity, but I did connect to the laptop via Bluetooh and used the RCA inputs for a turntable. So no need to repatch when I want to listen to my LPs. While there is a master power switch in the back, there is also a volume/on-off switch in front where it is easily accessed. There is also Bluetooth button, which doubles as a pilot light to remind me when the speakers are on. There is also a headphone jack, which I haven't used.
I haven't done a lot of critical listening on these monitors yet. My old set of speakers had a subwoofer, but I don't feel these speakers are lacking in low end response. So far, the LPs sound good (I got a Pyle preamp with a grounding screw so I no longer have to deal with that nasty hum). I've had some chamber music on as well, which had a nicely balanced sound with good detail Most of my serious audio work is done on a different computer, but these monitors will work nicely for comparison.
The speakers themselves are a little large and imposing on my computer desk. I could wall-mount them if I cared to.
All in all, a well-designed set of monitors good for many applications.
Good speakers
Good speakers could be clearer when loud. But Logan at sweetwater is awesome. He has taught me so much about sound and wiring I would have forsure blown my speakers up by bow without him prolly my computer as well l
CR5 BT sounds great but didn't last.
I had the previous model, called CR5BT. They sounded great and I love them. But the amplifier crapped out just after the warranty and it was going to cost more than it was worth to replace them.
ya get what you pay for
I'm not a musician or music professional and I neglected audio sales advice when I purchased these Speakers.I bought these speakers as replacements for blown out speakers in a mechanic shop radio. I was drawn to these speakers solely by the name.I had seen and listened to Mackie monitors in a studio and they were awesome! I'm sure they cost more. My first disappointment was on the outside of the box, Made in China. The second disappointment was the shoddy workmanship on the drivers, they looked like someone cut them out with scissors and glued them to the foam. My biggest disappointment was the lack of volume. The speakers sounded great at low volume very clean I thought. They just were the wrong speakers for this particular application.I tried to get away cheap and they did't work out. The den or office would have been a better fit.
Sounds Fine But...
Bluetooth is highly substandard, either I got a bad set or the technology in these is far from acceptable based on experience with many other devices.
Would not pair to an Android phone AT ALL, and took many many tries to get them paired with a FireStick, only to loose the pairing 2 days later.
Bluetooth being the primary reason for this purchase, and The ONLY reason I am giving a bad review.
Sound quality is great, but the additional cost for finicky BT functionality (when it works at all) well....
Well, I bought these...
Sound good if you can ignore the constant fizz and hiss they produce...Yes, I even plugged them into an outlet over 20 ft away. They are still all about the 'white noise".
Last Mackie product for me for awhile.
Noisy amplifier
These monitors sound good when they are in use... but press pause and they hiss surprisingly loudly. After 6 seconds of input silence they seem to turn off their amp and go silent, the hissing stops. This hissing noise is present 6 seconds after pause/stop/silence regardless of input (including bluetooth). The hissing is present for 6 seconds even if the input connections are removed.
Mackie doesn't stand behind their products.

These speakers sound great when they aren't hissing. The hiss is a real issue on both these and the 3inch ones I have. The speaker L/R selection switch is also an issue on both models where it just makes a poor connection and you have to flip it back and forth a few times. Even tried electronics cleaner, which helped short term, but it's simply a cheap switch.
The real major issue is that the amplifier can die and there is no replacement. My JBL's are still going strong, but these Mackie ones are just cheap it seems. There are NO spare parts available for these from Mackie and their parts department doesn't get back to you. I called and left messages with no return call. Finally reached someone who was quite brusque.
I'll stick with a different brand.
After the warranty ran out the position switch died
The position switch for left and right went out after my warranty expired and Mackie wanted to charge a bunch to fix it. Sucks
