I love this bass. Purchased it new about six months ago from a mom-and-pop retailer.
The action and neck ergonomics are superb. The tone is wonderful; perhaps the closest sound to an acoustic upright as I have ever heard on an EUB. I've played upright for thirty five years, nd have a pretty good idea what they sound like.
There are several issues which could be improved on this instrument, however. The first is the placement of the quarter-inch phone jack. It would be much better, for me, if it was on the outside edge of the body instead of the back. It is necessary to have the bass tilted on its stand in a less than ideal position, or the stand blocks access to insert and remove the patch cord.
The second issue is the stand itself. Although robust, it is seriously ugly and requires pretty extreme force to get the adjustment knobs tight enough to prevent the instrument from changing positions during use. For the pretty crazy price of this instrument, one might think there could be some proprietary design of a more attractive and better performing stand. Another aspect which could have been done better is the case. It's simply not high quality. Again referring to the price of this bass, a better case should be standard issue. I love the bass, but am certain that there is room to lower the price ba at least 20 percent and still have a respectable profit.
