Waves CLA Epic Delays & Reverbs Plug-in Reviews
Waves CLA Epic is aptly named, since it will infuse your mixes with epic-level space and dimension. CLA Epic contains a sizable cache of Grammy-winner Chris Lord-Alge’s go-to delays and reverbs — four of each, to be precise. This flexible plug-in allows you to layer and blend each of the eight effects in a myriad of ways, as well as route delays through reverbs for added depth. This CPU-friendly suite of ambient effects also includes modulation for adding width and texture to your tracks. You also get 50 presets created by CLA himself, along with over 300 more by Greg Wells, Michael Brauer, and dozens of other top-level producers and engineers. CLA Epic also includes a separate lightweight CLA EchoSphere plug-in for applications that call for slap delay and plate reverb combinations. If you need a reverb and delay super-suite for your studio, then Waves CLA Epic will deliver the sonic sweetening you’ve been missing.

Very nice combo plugin
Combines effects in professional presets that I never thought of. Has sub and insert presets onboard which takes some guess work out of using it. Remixed a song of mine with this and put it on all the signals except bass guitar and the mix was amazing and still intellectual.
Epic Deal
At this price, buying this plugin is a no-brainer--just get it. There are emulations of classic reverb and delay units (which can be fed into each other for unique effects!), and the presets allow you to hit the ground running. A must-have in any Waves collection.
Nice Reverb/Delay
I've tried and used about every plug-in Reverb and Delay ever created over the past several years, but never found any of them that was "great".
This Waves CLA Epic (or as CLA puts it... EPI-I-IC!!!) is actually a super nice "space" creator. It's really fast and easy to hone in on exactly
the Reverb/Delay (either in combination or individually) you're trying to achieve. It doesn't take much effort to get really, really nice
spaces. You don't have to twiddle for hours with the thing to get the effect you want... although, if you actually LIKE to waste time trying every
conceivable reverb/delay setup on the planet, you can do that too. Again... super-simple with incredible results fast. Totally worth it!
Just what I've been looking for.
My mixing template is a little smaller thanks to this plugin. I love it. It sounds amazing. The presets rule. It looks good too. I love the SSL style setup. I highly recommend it. You get 4 delays and 4 reverbs with incredible routing in one plugin. Wow.
Waves CLA Epic
Very versatile plugin that I've used in most projects since purchase. Presets are extensive but you will have ample opportunity to tweak. The demo videos are worth watching because this product is deep, and very sophisticated beyond the presets. It's good for basic effects or very complicated special effects with complex routing options. Incredible value at this price!

Waves technical support refused to roll over and die on my VPN-messing-up-my-license problem. Even after I had given up and moved on (or so I thought), they kept going. They got my account and license reinstated and set me up with a USB license that works around my VPN problem. So five stars for the customer service. I've never had anyone knock themselves out like that before.
My earlier recommendation still stands: If you have a VPN, get the USB or Offline license.
And, lest I forget, I'm liking the plugin itself (CLA Epic) so far. I like the concept of mixing different delays and sending those signals to a mix of reverbs. A lot of combinations to explore. It's very interesting, and fun.
A follow-up on my last review
It turns out my problem is that the laptop on which I intended to use this plugin uses VPN. And apparently, VPN's practice of assigning different IP addresses messes with Waves' licensing registration. The license is assigned to the device, but switching IP addresses makes it look like a different device.
So each time I got a new IP address, my license failed and the plugin was unavailable for use. Seems that that would be a problem for all Waves products, not just CLA Epic.
The moral of the story, I think, is: If you're using VPN or will be jumping around using different IP addresses, you might consider the USB or Offline license option.
