Great Guitar and Great Assistance in Purchasing

By Doris Presley from Knoxville TN on February 13, 2024 Music Background: None

Adam was extremely helpful in assisting me in purchasing this guitar for my granddaughter. She love it. It is easy for her to hold and easy for her to reach the strings. Adam's helped me in every step as I knew nothing about a guitar. I really appreciate his patience, his kindness and his knowledge. Thank you so much Adam!!!!!

Great !!

By Justin Stokes on April 15, 2022

For the money this guitar has great features. First, it has a compensated bridge for better intonation. Having said that, the bridge is a little high you may want to sand it down on the bottom like a millimeter or two. Second, it has a satin neck which is way better than a heavily lacquered one. Third, the 3/4 size is a great size especially with the nut width which on this one is less than 2 inches most classical have a 2 inch nut, which is too wide for me. Bottom line, Yamaha seems to put a lot of thought into their guitars, even the cheap ones.

Good quality of Guitar!

By Yaeko Jacques from SEATTLE, WA on January 18, 2022

I didn't expect much about Yamaha CGS103AII 3/4-Scale Classical Guitar because of its low price. To my surprise, this guitar is amazing: not only it has a beautiful design, but also has beautiful sound. The color is much better than shown on the web page. I'm 5'2" and this size and weight are just perfect. This item was our of stock when I ordered, but I decided to wait. Fiinally received it 4 weeks later. Updated shipping information that customer service (Rafael) sent me was very helpful.

Excellent value for the money

By Joe Scott from Chicago, IL on August 9, 2021

I purchased this guitar for my ten year old grandson. He had outgrown his 1/2 size guitar and this Yamaha was the perfect 3/4 upgrade. Good tone & playability. Made and finished well. In its size and class, you can't go wrong with this one.

Perfect

By Paula Marchesini from Washington, DC on July 10, 2021 Music Background: Musical Artist

I was already expecting a great guitar, but I was shocked at how great it actually is. It's gorgeous and sounds amazing. It's the perfect size for traveling. I actually bought this to leave at my summer home, but it might end up coming back home with me… It comes expertly stringed and ready to play after a quick tuning. It looks sturdy and durable, but it's very light and easy to carry. I got the mini acoustic Gator bag and it fit perfectly. Very happy with purchase.

Yamaha 3/4 guitar

I own a music school, and recommend Yamaha classical guitars to all of my students due to their sound, construction quality and tuning stability. When a student is first starting to pay guitar its very important to start out with a reasonable quality instrument, and for the price you can't go wrong with these guitars.

Great beginner guitar

I bought this for my grandson, and it will be perfect for him now, and as he gets older.

Great Starter Guitar

By EVaz from New York, NY on December 28, 2020

I purchased this Yamaha classical 3/4 guitar for my grandson who has recently switched from piano to guitar lessons. 7 days after having purchased one from a national guitar chain, and being disappointed by their lack of honest communication about stock and actual delivery date, I cancelled the order. My grandson's music teacher recommended Sweetwater. I called them to confirm availability and shipping dates. The salesman was helpful and truthful and, the experience was very positive. Warranty and service were included. Get on their email list for periodic communications that are very helpful.

The guitar was packaged perfectly for transit. Yamaha is a reliable brand - my 40+ year old guitar is a Yamaha and it plays like new. This 3/4 guitar is the right size for a child. The finish is a beautiful dark honey.

Newbie Guitar

By Frances Robinson from South Carolina on April 21, 2020 Music Background: Complete novice

I am a guitar novice. Always loved guitar. I'm retired and thought it would be lovely if I could learn to play. My brother is a bass player and guitar player - many years, and he's done business with Sweetwater for many years. He recommended this guitar - sent me the link, so I bought it. I love this little guitar and Sweetwater is the best. Extraordinary customer service! So, my plan is to learn on this great little school guitar and if I get much better I will buy - from Sweetwater - a full size instrument. Great instrument for a beginner!

Excellent student guitar

By JCinMN from MN on December 13, 2019 Music Background: Playing guitar for 52 years, semi professional in the late 70's, now for my own joy and passing my love for making music to my children and grandchildren.

I have guitars, basses and drums in the "guitar room" downstairs and my 5 year old granddaughter and 8 year old grandson love "playing" them at every opportunity. My grandson has started guitar lessons through an after school program, and he's very excited to learn how to play. The school uses the Yamaha CGS103A as the instrument of choice and they provide him with a rather beat up loaner to learn on so he is familiar with the instrument and likes it.
He asked Santa for his very own acoustic guitar "just like my school guitar" for Christmas so luckily, my friends at Sweetwater (where I buy all my gear-thanks Dustin!) had in stock.
As always, I received the guitar quickly and in pristine condition.
I should mention that my grandson is left handed so I did restring the guitar for a lefty which is much easier with a nylon string classical as the nut cuts are relatively the same for all strings and the bridge isn't compensated very much, so it works well.
I am very impressed with the guitar! Beautiful wood, stable tuners, nice action, and amazing tone! I played it some before restringing and was quite amazed at the playability, tone and quality at this price point! My only other Yamaha is a SBV500 4-string bass which is excellent so perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised.
Thanks to Dustin Keesbury and everyone at Sweetwater for another perfect transaction, beautiful addition to my family's collection, and helping make my grandson very happy on Christmas morning!

Yamaha 3/4 acoustic guitar

By Liliya from Indiana, PA on March 9, 2019

Very comfortable to hold for a 6 year old. Does not need a strap. Nylon strings are soft, produce great sound. Overall, completely satisfied with the look, weight, and, of course, QUALITY!!!! Quick delivery! Recommend!!

I am my Grandaughters hero.

By Lance Ruckteschler from Pleasanton, California on January 11, 2013 Music Background: Hobbyist

Thanks to my main man Chris at Sweetwater for helping me pick out the perfict Christmas gift for my 6 year old Grandaughter who wants to grow up and start her own girl band, I am her biggest hero. She spends lots of time playing with my farious musical instruments and wants to grow up to be like her Papa. Now Papa has to follow up with some professional lessons. Thanks Sweetwater, you have a life long customer.

Just what I wanted

By Phil from Indiana on December 13, 2010 Music Background: Hobbiest

I bought this guitar for the pleasure of having an instrument I could kick back on the couch with a play. What attracted me was its shallow body (it's only about 4" deep) and smaller scale. At 3/4 the size of a typical classical guitar, the neck is just a hair wider at the nut than a full-scale steel string model, which is nice if you're used to a standard acoustic guitar. What's more, I find this instrument remarkably easy to play. It frets well all the way up the neck, and the action is smooth and consistent. Furthermore, I'm greatly impressed by Yamaha's excellent build quality, especially considering the price of this instrument. Simply put, this is a case of getting far more than what I paid for.

Yamaha 3/4 Scale

By Sweetwater Customer on July 8, 2020

We've had our first lesson, and so far we've enjoyed the new Yamaha. Very grateful that Sweetwater could send it so quickly, and it was packed very well. We used an app to tune it. Thank you!

Yamaha CGS103AII comments

By Jim McDermot from New Hampshire on September 14, 2021 Music Background: None. A beginner

The guitar itself appeared to be well constructed and looked great. Unfortunately being an older citizen and not informed about guitars I made a mistake in ordering it and have returned the guitar to you and purchased a Cordoba C1 which seems to much better meet my needs. The Yamaha is suitable for children and not for adults with thicker fingers. I found no problems with the guitar the mistake was mine.

A solid addition

By Sweetwater Customer on September 19, 2018

We needed a low cost nylon string guitar for a grade school-aged child and this has worked out very well for him and has encouraged him to practice more. For the cost it looks good and plays well. I find myself picking it up and playing it from time to time. I'd recommend it to others in our situation.

Good Value

By Sweetwater Customer on November 25, 2017

Perfect guitar for young beginner. Well made at a good price. Only complaint is the intonation being way off above the 5th fret on most strings, but for beginners that won't be an issue. Will be recommending this guitar to all my students 10 years old or younger.

Well worth the price!

By B White from Houston, TX on August 30, 2012 Music Background: Hobbyist

Bought this as a guitar to leave at a vacation home. Did not expect a top quality guitar and was pleasantly surprised. Nice tone, especially good deep sound, fun to play. It is well worth its very low price!

Bad guitar

By James payne from Texas on March 18, 2024 Music Background: 60 years country and bluegrass

Not worth opening the box. Being a Luther I spent a lot of time to get this guitar playable. Bad deal.
