I saw a video of the late Johnny Thunders playing "Can't Put Your Arms Round A Memory" on an Ovation. Sounded great. Then I saw the late Emily Remler playing one w/ a little chorus & delay. Stellar. Then I decided that I needed a much slimmer acoustic that my old AJ-15. Then after showing them to my wife, she really, really liked the one w/ tiger eye maple top. Sold. It plays like a dream. Reasonable volume & tone unplugged. Sounds amazing clean. Sounds amazing w/ effects. Sounds great into my Orange Terror Stamp set to "crunch" (just dial the preamp back a little till it quits squealing). I was amazed how great this sounds dirty. Live? Probably get an appropriate amp. Home studio? Go nuts. Onboard tuner, too. Also, the 3 band active EQ is very flexible.

Very happy with this guitar! Workmanship appears high quality, frets are nicely filed, neck setup is correct, tuners turn smoothly. I lowered my action by removing the two shims beneath the saddle, and no fret buzz resulted. Acoustic response is quite bright; through the amp I get much fuller base and midrange. Battery change is much easier than on my older Ovation, using the pop-out compartment above the pre-amp. Neck and body bindings are even and smooth. The quilted maple top is a pleasure to stare at, and begs me to pick it up and play.
Customer service at Sweetwater, specifically Miles Patterson, really helped with my purchase. The saddle-integrated pickup came with one "dead" element, and Sweetwater had Ovation send a replacement pickup to my home within a week. Caring, courteous, and diligent with followup calls. Thanks for all of that. Also, the "choose which serial number" mechanism on the website allowed me to select the specific quilted maple top I wanted. When no two are exactly alike, this significantly increases my satisfaction.

This Guitar looks absolutely amazing in person the pictures do not capture the true look of this beauty.
Very pleased with that unique . Ovation sound both plugged and unplugged. I must say like all guitars you have to tweak the neck and set the action to your own preference.

I needed a light acoustic for playing on stage and thought I'd give this a try. I didn't want to drag on stage or bang up my expensive Taylors. All I can say is WOW! I am blown away by the versatility of this guitar! Thin, light and sounds amazing plugged in and by itself. When playing live you don't have to worry about the dreaded acoustic feedback. The electronics are really good and the on board tuner is a plus. I plug straight into the board for quick swaps which works and sounds great. Don't let the 'Made in China' scare you off. (I normally will not buy Chinese stuff) This is a quality guitar. Can't beat the price! Get one!
