Beautiful look and sound

This guitar sounds just as beautiful as it looks! The EQ settings are very responsive and the built in tuner is extremely accurate. The sound though, when this is plugged into a nice amp (I have a Fishman acoustic amp) sounds unreal, I definitely am satisfied with this purchase and you will be to! Add this to your arsenal today!
Don't trust the pictures
Looks way better than the pictures! Having owned an Applause guitar about 10 years ago, kind of expected the same quality. So much better. Incredible tone, nice playability. Especially like the on board tuner. Codie Priester gave great service as always. Answered all my questions. Very professional.
Love it
I have had this guitar in my sights for quite a while. I’m glad I decided to add it to my acoustic collection. Looks great and plays well. Had to adjust truss rod to eliminate a slight bow. May need to lower the saddle a bit to get better action. But, I do that with most of my acoustics. Overall, I’m pleased with this purchase; hard to put this thing down.
Better than ever (update)
I am updating my original review because after playing my Ovation Elite Celeb for a while, I truly appreciate how great this guitar is. It wasn't fair to compare it to my Legend guitar, which is a totally different "animal". This OEC is SO incredibly sensitive to individual notes... it feels like it plays itself. It's a finger picker's dream... I am playing like light years ahead of what I was before. It's like a whispering note thing. Sorry for getting so poetic, but I really LOVE this guitar. It reminds me of the piano in that it is so easy to play each string like it was a key. So it was definitely LIKE at first sight, but it has grown into Love. And thanks to Sweetwater people... this company is good. (it is so pitch perfect and stays...it's plain elegant)!

This guitar is stunning. The color combination is just magnificent and I love how it looks like it has a tiger maple pattern within the design. Everyone that sees it says, "wow that is a beautiful guitar" right away. The sound is crisp, clear and rich and it is perfect for everyday practice and travel. I am a very petite woman so I really needed this super shallow body/smaller guitar but I wanted really good sound. This is perfect. I cannot recommend this guitar enough. Plus, Drew Foster is our Sweetwater guy and he is always on top of everything we purchase. I have a family of musicians and this is where they come for everything. You get the best product as well as the best customer service. I am thrilled with my first Sweetwater guitar and I'm looking forward to my first Fender strat in the not so far future.

Great acoustic/electric!
I needed a new acoustic guitar and wanted one that was slightly different than the standard run of the mill acoustics. The Ovation Celebrity Elite was just what the doctor ordered. While not perfect, it is pretty close to it for me. The guitar makes it easy to play, especially with the setup from Sweetwater. Plug it in and it sounds great as well, and the three slider EQ allows me to add a little more bottom end in a guitar that tends toward the treble side of thing, at least to my ear. Can't go wrong with this one!
Great sounding, very comfortable instrument!
I've had a mid-depth Ovation Celeb Elite for years but the depth is hard to deal with if I'm standing. So I tried this guitar. It definitely works. It's so much easier to hold and play standing than the mid-depth.
Initially I had concerns that the sound would be thinner. It is a little thinner, but it's not an issue. And it sounds outstanding through an amp!
One additional difference between my older mid-depth and this guitar is the neck profile. The mid-depth has a thin neck and a shallow C profile, which I always liked but I'd occasionally unintentionally slightly mute the high E. This new shallow depth as a soft V neck, a bit deeper and a tiny bit wider. Initially it felt quite different but I'm really getting used to it and now find that more comfortable to play!

A quality instrument
The first guitar I purchased was an ovation many years ago and the sound and tone was amazing. The Ovation Elite Celebrity is a much slimmer version of that guitar which is very much what I wanted. Its sound is not as grand as the Legend, but this guitar is shaped to be more comfortable. I'm good with that. It is a beautiful looking instrument and I think the departure from the standard one round projection hole is kinda cool. I think it makes for a softer sound. I would prefer no electronics at all, but my daughter thinks it's cool. I tune mostly by ear. It's a wonderful guitar. By the way, once you get a guitar through Sweetwater, it is such a good experience that you feel spoiled in that the service is truly excellent. It's a company that really treats you like a valued musician.
fits the bill nicely
I confess I was on the fence about this guitar after I received it, going so far as to arrange a return.
I've owned previous Ovation models, having been fascinated by them ever since their introduction.
Most players are typically not on the fence re these instruments. You either love em or hate em.
I fall in the intersection. A love hate thing.
I love the amplified sound, and actually kind of like their acoustic sound. What I hate is the conflict between the round back of the instrument and the round front on me. In the 'old' days, there was a gum rubber strip or patch that kept the instrument from sliding on your leg when sitting. The mid depth bowl kept tilting the soundboard up when standing. This was also an issue with shallow bowl models to a certain extent.
After a bit of experimenting and set up, it's obvious this guitar is superior to my previous model. Set up is s big of a misnomer since all i did was remove the bridge shims when I changed strings.
The guitar arrived in perfect condition, well packed and protected. I love that I was able to literally pick out the desired instrument from the gallery.
While it may not make me love my 175th anniversary model Martin D35 less, I couldn't be happier.
I will likely put a strip of gaff tape on the back to create some friction against my clothes when standing. And did I mention how great the electronics are. Good sound, playability and a gorgeous finish that didn't break the bank. What more could I ask for?
