PRS SE CE 24 Standard Satin Electric Guitar- Vintage Cherry Satin Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Maple Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, and 2 Humbucking Pickups - Vintage Cherry Satin

The PRS SE line is famous for punching above its price point, and the new satin-finished SE CE 24 Standard Satin electric guitar intensifies that trend with an unassuming all-purpose electric guitar value that both hobbyists and pros will appreciate. A traditional mahogany body supplies flexible tonal foundations and lasting sustain that paves the way for the unfettered genre range of the PRS-designed humbuckers onboard. What's more, the SE CE 24 features a bolt-on maple neck with a Wide Thin profile, just like its USA-made counterparts. A long-anticipated recent refinement of the CE 24, a maple neck adds brightness and a slight percussive energy to your playing. Pair that with a roomy 24-fret rosewood fingerboard and PRS’s patented tremolo system, and prepare to be astonished by the potent features of the SE CE 24 Standard Satin.

Excellent Guitar

By Doug from Ohio on April 22, 2024 Music Background: Playing music for over 50 years.

Every once in a while a truly excellent affordable guitar is built and this is one of them!

It has its own voice and to me it can be what you need it to be. I set my gear up to give me the sound I need for a particular genre from clean and spanky to low end chug. I have a silent stage setup so it is easy to switch for a given sound texture.

The action, intonation, tremolo, neck relief, and every other aspect was set just to my liking. This is the first guitar that I have left exactly as received. I didn't even get the plek treatment.

Playability is awesome with this guitar. The scale and string spacing fit my hands better than the guitars of yester-year. It has allowed me to improve my technique to take on more challenging string skipping pieces.

I got the gator case for it. The gig bag is ok as a dust cover but not much else.

Overall couldn't be happier. Get one while you can before PRS realizes they can demand more $.

Great Light PRS SE CE Satin

By Chuck Billera from Port Jefferson Station, NY on April 9, 2024 Music Background: Retired old man, musician; guitar, bass.

At 6lbs 14oz, this guitar is a delight to hoist. All the essentials and no waste. Lovely guitar and delivered by Sweetwater in perfect condition. After I dialed in the action to my preference this beauty was a joy to play and behold. I added a few nice touches like PRS locking tuners, a custom eagle truss rod cover, abalone bird inlaid knobs, and Schiller S strap locks. Even at this SE level, the quality is still there. I also own a PRS SE Swamp Special, and a core model Custom 24 10 top . These two SE models stand proudly with their Core brother and these guitars are all a joy to play. Just buy the PRS SE CE Satin, don't look back, and prepared to be amazed. Great guitar. It's a PRS!!

New PRS fan

By ED from NJ on April 1, 2024 Music Background: eclectic

My first PRS! I have had a couple of more expensive guitars and remember having to let them grow on me for some time. The CE SE Satin just felt very natural right off. The neck feel, fretwork and tones feel more high-end in comparison to any I've tried at this price rane. Gonna upgrade to looking tuners to improve tuning stability, doesn't take away from 5 stars due to the unbelievable value. No comparison IMHO.

Excellant value

By Sweetwater Customer on March 28, 2024

My first PRS and I love it. Perfectly set up out of box and plays and sounds great. I could only imagine what a high priced PRS would be like, everyone should give it a try i believe you will not be disappointed.

The Only Guitar To Buy at This Price!!!

By Gabriel Ferraz de Oliveira Ogama from Sheboygan, WI on March 15, 2024 Music Background: Guitarist

This is a guitar that punches waaaay higher than its wait. Fret ends are perfect, neck is just the right size, the sound is amazing. The not two things I would say are just a little short to perfection are the volume of the split coils, it drops a little too much, and the position of the switch. It gets in the way of the Whammy bar. So if you used the whammy it gets harder.

But if you need a guitar around $ this is the best option ever!

I am adding the photo of the one I got. The pickups are the same, I use had metal covers I added to it.

First PRS !

By Judy F. from Vermont on March 8, 2024 Music Background: Hobbiest

I've had this new PRS SE CE 24 Standard Satin over a week now and have spent enough time with it to say, I really like it ! Especially love the weight (7.2lbs)
Really like the satin finish and the fact it stays in tune quite well. I'm not a fan of tremolo's so I don't keep it in...but when I did check it out, still the guitar stayed in tune.
I really don't have any cons except for one whereby now is no longer a concern. Initially I was concerned that the tone knob felt so flimsy, waaay too easy to turn...or not as resistant as the volume knob. So I called PRS and was told by one of their tech guys unless it spun completely around or was not working...or it didn't alter the tone or the push/pull wasn't affecting the tonal qualities of the pickups, that it was common. He also reassured me that IF I ever had any issues they would be promptly addressed by either the good folks at Sweetwater or by PRS directly..

All n' all I'm happy with my purchase. Grateful PRS finally offered a guitar that was affordable for the many who may never have been able to own a PRS until now !

Really nice guitar

By LarryV from Central MA. on March 5, 2024 Music Background: 55+ years of playing

When I opened the gig bag and looked at this guitar, my immediate reaction was wow! I own several PRS's, from core models, to SE models. This guitar really surprised me in terms of the sound and quality. Setup was perfect out of the box, and the guitar looks stunning - the satin finish really looks good and it feels like a broken in guitar. I really like the neck on this one, super easy to play and comfortable. Fret work was excellent with no sharp ends.

Another wow moment when I plugged it in - it sounds killer, clean or distorted. They hit the ball out of the park on this guitar, especially at the $ price point. I really enjoy playing it, and the sound is superb, there's nothing I would change except maybe putting a set of PRS locking tuners on it. But it does stay in tune very well so not really something I'm considering at the moment. I used it to record this tune ..

Flawless and amazing

By Matthew Musser from Longmont, CO on February 26, 2024

I just received this guitar yesterday and I am blown away by how much fun to play is. I own a PRS Private Stock, a couple cores, a few SEs, a CE 24, and an S2. I was not expecting this guitar to be as dial in and fun to play as it is. The satin finish and the neck feel so good ... you feel really connectected with the guitar when you play it. I never realized how much better that feels than the glossy necks and bodies. It just feels alive.
The guitar is also pretty light. I never really liked the the 85/15s (love the 58/15s) on core or SE models but for whatever reason they work on this model. They seem a little hotter than I remember and have more personality. Combined with a near perfect neck shape the entire thing plays itself. It is not easily put down either.

I really hope PRS puts out satin necks and finishes on a lot more of its models.

Amazing guitar

By MrJst1963 from Nashville, TN on March 20, 2024 Music Background: Performer, studio, guitar tech,

I'm surprised at how much guitats cost these days, I'm a blue collar worker and part time musician. Finally an inexpensive guitar that are workable for every need I have. The PRS SE CE24 is a beautifully made instrument at $ and at that price, is the best guitar made in that price range. I do have USA guitars but I pick this guitar up more often just because I like everything about it. As always Joseph, my sales rep is kind, knowledable and continues to reach out to me to make sure that I'm content.

PRS SE CE 24 Standard Satin Electric Guitar- Vintage Cherry Satin

By Jim from MI on March 14, 2024 Music Background: Amateur Musician

Great guitar, well made and beautiful. The fit and finish seem quite good, I love the way the wood grain shows through the satin finish. Plays very well, nice action. The pickups sound very good. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is that I'm not sure how well I like the wide neck. It does make a lot of chords easier, and I'll probably get used to it the more I play it.
