6-string Acoustic Guitar with Mahogany Top, Mahogany Back and Sides, Mahogany Neck, and Walnut Fingerboard - Natural

The CD-60S All Mahogany Dreadnought hits every note when it comes to what new or emerging players require on their journey toward mastering the guitar. This heavy-duty dreadnought features a solid mahogany top, mahogany back and sides, a comfortable easy-to-play profile, and a smooth walnut fingerboard with rolled edges. This instrument's large dreadnought body size and classic tonewoods deliver a huge, full-bodied sound with ample projection for vocal accompaniment, solo work, and many other "unplugged" applications. The instructors at Sweetwater's Academy of Music often recommend Fender Classic Design guitars like the CD-60S to their beginning — as well as intermediate — students because they offer a combination of quality, playability, looks, and value that can't be beaten.

Great guitar

By Ron from Oklahoma
Music Background: Amateur entertainer, usually for a small audience.

I bought one and have been very pleased with it. Fender acoustic guitars are much better than people think. Yes, this particular one is made in China, but the quality is top notch. Fender and Yamaha and other brands are holding them to the standard they need.

A solid, versatile guitar good for beginners or experienced players

By Jake T. from Moses Lake Washington
Music Background: 20+ years playing guitar in bands and solo

I've had my guitar for a while now and can say confidently this is a fantastic guitar in its segment. I'm going to start out with the negatives to get them out of the way, and had I shopped Sweetwater these negatives wouldn't be there. I purchased mine from an online shop on a sale. When it arrived, I noticed some finish imperfections on the fingerboard and the neck wasn't flush to the body. I could have sent it back but I didn't. Looking at them I could see them as more cosmetic details that only I would see. I'm happy I held on to this one, as the sound on it has really opened up with time. The solid mahogany top sounds wonderful. I would have preferred a thinned finish, but it's really gorgeous. The neck is very comfortable, it's a great size for a new player. The action out of the box was ok, I did sand down the saddle to lower it, but it was certainly playable, especially for your cowboy chords. If you want to get high up on the neck, you'll want to drop the action.
Let's get back to the tone though. This guitar sounds nice. When comparing to my spruce topped guitars, this one just has a warm tone that blossoms nicely in the room. Played next to a Martin, of course I want the Martin. But next to an orangewood, Yamaha, Epiphone, or other guitars in this price range, this tone is just wonderful. The big dreadnought body is wonderfully big sounding. I'm sure as this guitar ages it will just continue to sound and feel better. This one is a great guitar if you can't afford something more expensive. The tuners are nice and smooth, neck feels nice, as a package this guitar is great. I wouldnt hesitate recommending this one to someone with this budget.

Great Entry Level Acoustic

By GLENN C. from SANTA FE, TEXAS
Music Background: TAYLOR 814CE PLAYER AND SINGER

A co-worker brought this exact guitar to work to show me. He is wanting to learn to play guitar at 21 years old (I wish I had started that early). Anyway, I asked him to let me take it home to restring (Elixers) and work it for him. I polished the frets and lowered the action by 1/16" which is important for those just starting to learn. Many people wanting to leearn stop after a week because the action bites and it hurts their fingers. Anyway, after I got it set up, I was astounded how easy it played and sounded amazing for $ friggin bucks!. I am at my desk typing this and can't wait for him to show up. I highly recommended this guitar to anyone who is looking for an entry level guitar.BE sure to set it up before you start your journey. PEACE AND TO MY MUSICAL JAMILY!
