Incredible
I received this kit for Christmas and recently finished it. It was user friendly to build and it sounds great! The wood took nicely to my wood burning pen and poly. It's beautiful!!!
Quick and easy build
I had been looking at cajon kits for about a year before I decided to give this one a try. I was impressed by the video instructions and easy assembly of my first cajon. The pieces fit perfectly, and the glue was more than adequate for the job. On the con side though, if you are expecting high end sound from this kit you will be disappointed. It does play nice, has a decent base and snare sound, but I would call it an entry level cajon. If that suits you then this is the kit for you!
Cajon build
I had a great experience building this cajon for my grandkids. Perfect size. Easy to follow instructions including video. I stained each piece before assembly and stained the front a dark teak. Used a light coating of satin polyurethane spray to seal. Came out really nice. I would recommend a light sanding of the ridges that "finger" together for a tighter fit
Great Cajon Kit
Very easy to put together, the manual that comes with it does have an English page for build instructions. There is also a great video the shows you step by step how to build it. I'm very very happy with the tone of this cajon. Great buy!
Nice Cajon
Had a lovely time putting the cajon together with my son in law's brother. Used in to accompany Christmas carols over the holidays. Sounds great. Good experience. Easy to assemble.
Has held up very well
We have had this Cajon for 7 months and have been really surprised at how well it has held up. 8 children ages 1-12 play with it almost daily (including occasionally knocking it over, carrying it around or sticking toys inside) and it has survived multiple trips loaded in the van. As far as the sound, we don't have a lot to compare it to, but it sounds great to us. We used only the materials included to put it together and we have been very impressed with the durability.
Awesome Cajon for reasonable price.
Received my medium Schlagwerk cajon kit in 3 days. The kit was open inside the box and it was missing the snare, but it wasn't a big deal. I had two spare cajon snares that I installed instead of the one it should've had. Which in my opinion its the best Birch cajon that I've ever played.
After building the cajon I sanded, stained it, painted it and sealed it. And because I'm 240 pounds I reinforced it with 10 extra screws that I had so I know that it would hold me. This cajon kit looks and sounds amazing. And it is a beginner project.
I give it 4.5 stars. I love it!!!
Nice Beginner Cajon
Really like the look of the birch. Takes on average about 2 hrs to assemble
This size only comes with 1 snare. I put some clear gloss urethane on the front inside panel
where the snare hits because I read that a nicer sound is produced. What I found out is that the cheap glue
they give you in the kit did not adhere well to the poly and the front panel fell off as I played it the first time.
I would recommend getting a better, stronger wood glue like Tightbond or so. It will take longer to dry but it is much more solid and you don't want it falling apart on you. Gets a decent sound I'm happy with when all done. Put some Danish oil on it and good to go. yet to see how it holds up.
