Behringer CB 100 Gooseneck Condenser Instrument Microphone Reviews
The CB 100 Gooseneck Condenser Instrument Microphone from Behringer is designed specifically for string, brass, percussion, and wind instruments. The CB 100 features a cardioid polar pattern that keeps the focus squarely on your instrument, eliminating peripheral stage noise from other sources. And with a flexible gooseneck design, you can position the CB 100 in that ideal "sweet" spot for your particular instrument. Behringer even includes wind and pop noise filters with this outstanding mic! Here at Sweetwater we are incredibly impressed with the design and function of the CB 100 — it provides outstanding captures of a variety of instruments during live performances.

Perfect for my needs
I play harmonica used in a small boom attachment on my mic stand, harp arm to be exact. My vocal mic just wasn't capturing enough sound so I thought I'd try a small condenser mic devoted only to the harp. This one does the job. Very light weight, easy to attach, used two 1/2" Velcro straps, it can be positioned with the gooseneck right in the sweet spot to capture the harp and, it does not interfere with my vocal mic at all. Using a compact mixer with 48v phantom power that has reverb and delay and, it sounds excellent. Very easy to balance just the output I need. it's money well spent! Zack Davidson checked with me to see how it was working out. You don't get this type of customer service anywhere else but, Sweetwater! Very satisfied with this product and customer service!
Awesome mic
This mic is awesome, hands down one of the best mics per dollar. Very useful for any source. Yes it does not come with a clip but you can buy DPA clips or you can find clips for way cheaper and lots of options.
Great for Violin
Works well with the DPA VC4099 clip. A good sound for violin
Fantastic
This mic sounds incredible on the violin. With some trial and error on the mic positioning, I was able to get a natural, rich sound on my recording. I am blown away by how good this mic is despite its low price! This mic doesn't come with a clip. The DPA 4099V clip works well with this mic.
Great mic at an even better price!
This mic is so good that I am placing another order, while I write this review, before the price goes up!
There is no painful feedback even if I am standing in front of the speaker....amazing! Please note that it does not come with a clamp however I secured mic with velcro straps and voila!
Crazy good deal
I bought one of these specifically to test it out against the 3-letter mic from Scandinavia (we'll call it the "APD") that costs 15 times as much money. Yeah, you know the one: it's the one this is modeled after. I did a direct comparison using both mics secured side by side, identical Millennia preamp settings matched to .1 dB. Tried it in an isolation room to see the self noise first. The CB 100 has 1 dB more self noise, BUT, it has 2 dB more gain, so it's a wash. The pickup pattern is a tad bit tighter on the APD, so it picks up a tiny bit less room sound when close micing. Other than that, the sound is so close that I immediately sold my APD and bought 3 more CB 100 mics for micing a string quartet. Tried it on vocals, Grand piano, cello and acoustic guitar. For live the minimal difference is a no brainer. Save yourself some bucks.
The bad: the windscreen on the CB 100 is a little loose, so I had to secure it better. The CB 100 does not come with a clip, but works well with the APD clips I already had. That's why I dropped a 1/2 star.
Alternative to Piezo Pickups
I was searching for more natural sounding acoustic guitar amplification solution. A mic on a stand could work if you're seated but is not practical on stage. I came across the Behringer and figured I could experiment without breaking the bank. I found that an "HEIMU Guitar Clip (for Guitar)" fits the gooseneck well. If you are a solo act or recording, this mic may have a bit too much self noise. In a crowded live mix it should be fine. I've found an Audio Technica AT8695 notch filter works well to kill feedback with my 12 string.
Not recommended for drums
I bought 4 of these to use as tom mic's.
With just the drum they sounded pretty good.
However once the drummer played the entire kit the amount of cymbal bleed was out of control.
Almost seems like they have an omni pattern.
Hummmmmmmm!
Worked for two months. Developed hum. Stuck with it!
60hz hum, not grounded
Behringer CB 100 Gooseneck Condenser Instrument Microphone
I didn't return it soon enough bc it's cheap but it hums very badly and is not grounded.
Where is the clip?
This sounds like a great microphone, but where is the clip? This is ridiculous. I don't even see a clip offered as an "add on." Selling this microphone without any way to attach it to anything is like selling a car with no wheels. What is going on? I'd be happy to purchase it, but why would I buy something that is disabled right out of the box? Pass.
