Great guitar

By Sweetwater Customer from MA on December 26, 2023 Music Background: Forty years as a gigging musician.

I've been looking at nylon string guitars for a while and finally took the plunge. This is a great little guitar with a nice warm tone and it played fantastic right out of the box.For a serious classical/flamenco player I assume they would want something a bit more specialized? But if its a crossover you are after then no need to look further. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

beautiful body and sound

By Ry on December 27, 2022

Played it for 2 seconds and fell in love. It has a warm but clear tone that is truly wonderful. The C and B# on the a string can buzz if I'm not careful but that is as much bad habbit on my end.

Very Happy With This Guitar

By JK from Ohio on March 24, 2022

My first nylon string guitar. Mostly play steel string guitar. Thought I would try something different. I really like the mellow sound and feel of this instrument. The crossover is perfect for us steel string players. Very well made. Very well crafted. Logan was a big help , in helping me make a good choice. I would definitely recommend this guitar .

My first nylon string guitar, good choice

By JK from STOUT, OH on March 7, 2022

I always play steel string guitars. I wanted to try something new. I really enjoy this quality instrument. It is flawless in its construction. It sounds loud and sweet. It is very comfortable to play. I made a good choice. Not easy getting the right guitar online. Sweetwater is a wonderful company. Logan was a big help. The guitar was perfect right out of the box.

Goldilocks

By Glory from NJ on April 26, 2021 Music Background: Playing badly since 1969.

I have two other guitars, a traditional classical and a steel string acoustic. Since receiving this crossover my other instruments sit neglected in their cases. The nut width of the crossover is exactly midway between my other two: not too wide, not too narrow. It is so comfortable to play, I cannot put it down. Wonderful for fingerstyle, it is surprisingly bright and loud. Exactly what I wanted. Out of the box, the neck relief was perfect. The action appears to be set according to Cordoba's specifications. See photo. The action might seem high for steel string players, but keep in mind that nylon strings need more room to vibrate. Still there is room for adjustment. I strongly suggest you have Sweetwater do it, because if you're like me, once you receive your new guitar, you won't want to let go of it to have it set up.

Very Pleased with Cordoba C9 Crossover

By Sweetwater Customer on April 5, 2021

I have always been a steel string guitar player. I fingerpick and I flat pick. As I have gotten older my hands are not as strong and tough as they were in the past. I decided to try a nylon string guitar for fingerpicking so I could play longer. First I tried an old classical guitar with a flat fingerboard. Since I was not trying to be a classical guitar player, I was not happy with the flat fingerboard. I did research on the internet and decided the C9 Crossover was what I wanted. I have been very happy with the C9. It accomplishes what I wanted. It appears to be a well made guitar. New from the box, the neck relief needed considerable adjustment and the action at the first fret was a little high. Once setup it plays wonderfully. Of course it sounds like a nylon string guitar but I didn't buy it to compete with my 000-28 or HD-28 for sound and volume. I wasn't sure about the factory strings at first. But now I am happy with the OEM strings. All around a great guitar for a steel string player who wants a nylon string guitar also.

Cordoba C9 crossover

By TRS on November 27, 2018 Music Background: 50 plus years on the guitar

i was very impressed with the instrument. It is very easy to play right out of the case. The quality is exceptional with excellent attention to detail. It is of the quality of the higher end Taylors and Martins. This guitar is unique because it has a radiused neck. It makes it easy to play for guitarists who play typically with steel strings. Case is very nice.

Great

This is just what the doctor ordered. I was looking for a mellow sounding easy playing guitar. This guitar is so sweet sounding and it melts in your hands. I had a Cordoba Gk Studio negra and it"s quality was superb so I had no doubt that I went looking for the same brand. It didn"t fail me. Such a beautiful fit and finish. This is my forever guitar. It is aging quite nice sounds better everyday.

Nice Guitar

I do own a Cordoba C-5 which is a great entry level classical guitar. I have been delving more into nylon guitars, and I wanted an all solid body instrument. I am very pleased with my purchase. The difference in sound between the C-5 and this guitar is amazing. This sounds clear and warm with crazy bass.

This is an entry level all solid wood guitar. Even so, it doesn't dissapoint. My guitar teacher suggested a "crossover" neck which has a slightly narrower, thinner neck and slight radius. This makes it an easy transition from steel stringed acoustics to nylon stringed. The guitar is also very light. The solid foam case it came in is pretty nice, kind of a cross between a hardshell and a gig bag. The finish is beautiful.

The only negatives were grainy frets (I had them polished) and fairly high action, which I had fixed when it was set up.

Shipping was fast and it was well packaged, and we scored a lot of banana Laffy Taffy!

Nice guitar

By Gary from Corona, CA on March 8, 2016 Music Background: Intermediate

This Córdoba has a great sound. Light as a feather and beautiful. Only downfall I that it must be tuned often. For the price I don't think you can find better sound and quality of construction. I would recommend this guitar to anyone shopping for a mid-level classical guitar that has a great sound. The hard foam case is much nice than expected also!

Cordoba C9 Crossover

A very well built production guitar with nice hardwoods. I like the mellow deeper tones of a cedar top. Not sure about the strings, perhaps I need to play the guitar a little longer before changing them. Overall a really nice guitar for the money.
