I love this guitar

By Sweetwater Customer on April 18, 2024

This is the guitar I play the most out of my 4 guitars since I got it. The finish is perfect. No problem with intonation or action height out of the box. I play it at home and have no complaint about the sound profile or projection.

A Marvelous Guitqr

By Dion Costales from Virginia on June 10, 2019

I recently purchased the Canadian Cedar top Cordoba C9 and from the moment I opened the bag I was amazed. I've played for many years on both steel string and classical guitars and nothing compares to the C9. It's a beautiful instrument to look at, with its high gloss, solid wood construction and gold tuning machines. It's the lightest guitar I've ever held and and fits me very well. The C9 sound, though, is its most remarkable feature, offering a beautiful full warm and mellow tone totally unlike my previous guitars. It came with Savarez Cristal Corum strings, which, although high tension, are easy on my fingers. Overall, the C9 is a marvelous well-priced guitar and I'd recommend it to anyone moving up from starters.

A true upgrade to my musical experience

By Benny Harris from Jonesboro, AR on February 3, 2019 Music Background: Decades long "Advanced Beginner"

The Cordoba C-9 Classical guitar with the included Savarez Crystal Corum high tension strings was hesistantly purchased as I wondered if it would really be much of an improvement over my Cordoba C-5 classical guitar. It was. Oh yes, it was!

My C-5 was no slouch in the beauty of sound department, but the solid wood C-9 clearly sounds so much better -- let's call it regal in it's sound. Clear, ringing notes across all strings. Noticeably greater sound projection than the C-5. It seems to me that the Savarez high tension strings that come stock with the C-9 are well suited to this instrument. I find no fault with their sound (I'm awestruck) -- I won't even consider switching the strings out.

The C-9 is so lightweight i thought it would float away to the ceiling when I first took it out of its box. The guitar is well constructed and well finished. I found no flaws in joinery or finish.

The Cordoba deluxe gig bag that encases it is a large step up from the entry level Cordoba gig bag I had the C-5 in. The deluxe gig gag has twice the thickness of internal padding than the entry level gig bag, so I'm not worried about damaging the guitar if I run into a door jamb.

Sweetwater's 55 point inspection resulted in this guitar being immediately playable. It arrived well set-up. I appreciated Sweetwater's way of packaging the guitar for shipment. During shipment someone put their boot through the external box leaving a four inch hole. The internal box was untouched and undamaged.

Unique Sweet and Warm Sound

By Yiren Hu from Los Angeles on February 12, 2013 Music Background: Hobbyist

Very easy to play. The guita has very good sound with very low price! I tried more than 10 brands below $1,700. This is the best one. I bought it recently.

A lovely guitar for the price

By Cole Dilli from Wichita, KS on May 13, 2020

For a sub-$1000 USD price tag, the Cordoba C9 has a lovely sound. It has inspired me to spend even more time learning the art of guitar. Be aware that Cordoba does advertise this guitar, in their own words, as "handmade in a small boutique workshop". This is somewhat misleading as the guitar is produced in China and not Spain as some people might interpret. Personally, I do not mind this and think it is a great guitar for the "entry-level concert ready" price range.

Very Sweet!

By Sweetwater Customer from Seattle on December 11, 2017 Music Background: New to classical; 45 years of semi-pro blues rock

I really like the Cordoba C9 Cedar Top. This is my first Cordoba and I played quite a few over the last six months to see how I liked them. The action is really good and the frets are very smooth. The fit and finish are awesome. What really blows me away is the tone. I was after an entry-level all wooden classical guitar with great play-ability and tone. The C9 is it.

a new start

By jw from York, PA on May 1, 2012 Music Background: former pro-musician, still serious hobbyist

I have been a finger-style player for 38 years, but until recently, it was always on a steel-string guitar. Recently, I decided to switch to a nylon-string classical guitar.

After checking out several different brands and models, I felt that this guitar would be a good fit for my playing style and budget. I am impressed enough with the quality of this guitar, and with Cordoba in general that I plan on ordering a Cordoba Solista in the future.

Great Guiar

I had an issue with the one I bought but in all honesty it was probably an isolated one. Nick at Sweetwater stepped up and made it right! He needs no classes on customer relations! Thanks for your help, Nick!

Cordoba C9

By J.C. Palmer from South Dakota on April 6, 2016 Music Background: Played for many years and have recorded

This guitar is not made in Spain as implied! It is made in China! I purchased one and then found out! I should have sent it back because 13 months later I noticed two cracks on the back. One was approx. 4" long and the other was approx. 6" long. I sent it to Sweetwater and they claim humidity is the problem- not their fault or the fact the guitar was made in China and the back is VERY thin! I told them I have an Alhambra that sits right along side it and it has no problems! So far I have yet to be satisfied with their customer service- in spite of the fact I did not ask for my money back but credit toward purchase of a better [not made in China] guitar! No luck so far - they want to charge me for a repair of the back! Be careful! Don't buy! Don't buy!
