Schecter C-7 SLS Elite 7-string Electric Guitar - Blood Burst Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Swamp Ash Body, Flamed Maple Top, Maple/Walnut/Padauk Neck, Ebony Fingerboard, and 2 Active Humbucking Pickups - Blood Burst

Looking for a top-shelf 7-string axe? Well, the Schecter C-7 SLS Elite delivers. Its gorgeous flamed maple-capped swamp ash body creates a luscious cocktail of brightness and warmth, along with mids that "pop." Beyond that, the C-7 SLS Elite supplies access to sought-after humbucker tones, thanks to its Fishman Fluence Modern active pickups. Experience enhanced sustain and playability by virtue of a Neck-Thru design with Ultra Access and a smooth ebony fingerboard. The C-7 SLS Elite's Ernie Ball compensated nut and Hipshot hardtail bridge exhibit spot-on intonation. Complete with an eye-grabbing fading finish and attractive black hardware, the C-7 SLS Elite oozes quality.

Fun to play!

By Pablo Gonzales from Forney Texas on October 3, 2023 Music Background: Amateur

After a good setup, with a comfortable guage of stings. This is a very good guitar
Sold, well built. pickup sound fantastic, the neckthru construction is smooth playing up and down the neck. If you're thinking of getting a 7 sting guitar this is a good one to try.

High spec, well-built guitar. Though it has a very woody, upper mid focused, 'cocked wah pedal' kind of tone.

This review is subjective. You may not be searching for the same kinds of tones that I am looking for playing high/max gain death metal.

Schecter really nailed the build quality on this guitar. The fit and finish is immaculate, from the wood on the back to the glossy red/black flame top on the front. The fret ends are not sharp or sticking out and the neck feels smooth. The Schecter locking tuners are easy to operate and don't tear up the skin on your fingers as much as other brand locking tuners.

My biggest con with this guitar, is the tone itself. It has a very mid-forward sound. To me it sounds like the guitar is being 'played through a wah pedal'. I know it is not the pickups as I have 2x other Fishman Fluence guitars that do not sound the way the SLS Elite does. I was even able to verify with my buddies recently purchased Schecter C-7 SLS Evil Twin (identical specs to the SLS Elite) that has the exact same 'honky' style tone. I then recorded A/B samples of a few different Fishman Fluence Modern guitars into my DAW including the two Schecters (C7 SLS Elite & C7 SLS Evil Twin). There was a noticeable difference in the way these specific Schecters push the mids so far forward and unfortunately for me I will end up struggling with EQ's/pedals to remove it.
