Schecter C-7 FR-S Apocalypse - Red Reign Reviews

7-string Electric Guitar with Swamp Ash Body, Maple/Bubinga Neck, Ebony Fretboard, 1 Sustainiac Humbucker, 1 Apocalypse Humbucker, and Floyd Rose Tremolo - Red Reign

Boasting 24 stainless steel frets on an ebony fretboard, a pair of humbucking pickups, and a Floyd Rose vibrato bridge, the Schecter C-7 FR S Apocalypse is ready to rock. A swamp ash body offers a musical balance of brightness, warmth, and midrange "pop." An Apocalypse bridge humbucker provides loads of aggressive tone, while the Sustainiac pickup at the neck position allows notes to ring indefinitely. Factor in a fast-playing neck, and the ultra-precise action of a Floyd Rose tailpiece, and you've got a versatile metal machine in the Schecter C-7 FR S Apocalypse.

Super pleased

By Rodney on October 24, 2023 Music Background: Bars, icehouses and backyard shindigs

Dave Hoffman and his team including the Luthier doing the pro plek have exceeded my expectations once again .
This appocalypse is my 2nd guitar in 3 months from Sweetwater( fender pro ii ) and it also plays incredibly smooth.
I have been a picky customer but I'm extremely satisfied with the results!
Bought this thing for metal but straight out of the box I switched the sustaniac on and played the national anthem. Sustains for dayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyÿsssssssssssssssss !
Finally home with its family as you can see here.

Worth every penny

By Jeramy from Pittsburg on March 3, 2023

I had to wait a few days to write this review. I spent my first day wanting to slam this thing against a wall. That being said this is my first floyed rose bridge. The neck had a little to much relief out of the box, so I brought it to .010. I also drop tune so by the end of all that I had everything way out of whack. I read through the Sweetwater directions, I highly recommend this if your new to these like me. After doing my homework and getting everything dialed in, I'll never use any other bridge set up. This guitar holds tune better than any of my other guitars. This being my first whammy bar it has definitely been put to the test !

The guitar itself is amazing. The craftsmanship is top notch, and pics don't do it much justice. The finish on this thing is beautiful. The neck feels super comfortable, and the cut away is perfect. I just can't say anything bad about this guitar. It sounds phenomenal, the bridge pickup is a beast, and esthetically pleasing as well. If I'm not playing this guitar I'm looking at it. The attention to detail is just stunning. The sound is even more than I expected with or without the sustain on. It sounds beautiful clean, and turns into a monster with some distortion. Even with ridiculous amounts of gain, these pickups articulate every note with amazing clarity.

Great service here at Sweetwater once again thanks to my sales engineer, Tony Watson. I don't do business anywhere else. I was all set to buy the silver mountain, and am glad Tony took the time to run over every little detail of the two with me. This is one of those guitars you never get rid of.

Amazing High-End Guitar

By William from Tucson on September 24, 2021 Music Background: Enthusiast/hobbyist

First, a backstory: I have about 10 years of on and off experience on the guitar. I've mastered various different styles of music, and at my best, I could solo fluidly at around 17 – 19 notes per second. I've owned quite a few guitars throughout my life, but never one that cost more than $1,000 dollars. I just couldn't stomach paying that much money. That being said, a major influencing factor for me in buying this guitar was Jeff Loomis. He is one of my favorite artists and he almost exclusively uses Schecter guitars. I learned from him that this price range was common for some of the best guitars on the market. Being a Loomis fan and wanting to learn how to play the 7-string, I was drawn to this guitar.

The Floyd Rose tremolo system on this guitar stays perfectly in tune even when rampaging on the bar. The Sustainiac pickup on this guitar sounds phenomenal. When I play lead passages with it, I feel like Steve Vai! Not surprisingly, the pickup delivers a BEAUTIFUL clean tone. I spent a good hour just plucking chords and letting them ring out. This guitar has a neck that makes you feel like you're Paul Gilbert as you're playing. It feels SO comfortable! For the money, this was worth every penny I paid! If you're still on the fence, come to my side! This is easily the best guitar I've ever owned!

TL;DR: The guitar sounds unbelievably good, is very comfortable to hold and play, stays in tune, and is an incredible high-end music machine!

BADASS!

By Stevie Bob from Indiana on July 3, 2021 Music Background: Metal/Rock/Blues guitarist for 30+ years

I absolutely love this guitar. It's my first 7 string, first sustainiac, first Schecter, and I couldn't be happier. It plays and sounds great, and it's so comfortable even though the neck is a bit wider. The sustainiac is a lot of fun, but it has great sustain even without it activated. I've found myself looking to make sure it was off a few times now lol. Beautiful well made instrument, worth every penny!

Great Guitar

By Kyrios Courton on March 2, 2021

I have zero complaints about this guitar. It's great, I also find that 7 string is more comfortable for me to play than 6.

WOW!

By Sweetwater Customer on May 13, 2020

I've been searching for the perfect 7 str. For over a year.
Forget that I'm a sucker for red, this is the best guitar I've ever played. The easiest to get good sound without trying. XJumbo frets means light touch, which improves speed and endurance. 26.5 inch neck gives more room on high end than I realized and made a difference in accuracy.
The hardware is outstanding, solid, smooth. The big 2 guitar makers need to know that Schecter is making better stuff, while the big 2 charge way more for the same old, same old.

Solid 7 string

By Zakky Lupercal from Chester, CA on June 4, 2021 Music Background: Professional guitarist

I love this 7 string, aside from 2 fatal flaws.
The "Floyd Rose" on it is absolute trash. The bar rattles like crazy out of the box. It's utterly useless.
The sustaniac pickup is also awful. As a straight neck pickup it buzzes so badly that it's completely unusable for that purpose. If you like the whole gimmick of the sustainiac system, you'll probably love it, but I was thoroughly unimpressed with it.
Other than those two things, the guitar is amazing. The apocalypse pickup is perfect and sounds brutal. The finish is ridiculously gorgeous. And the neck is easily the best I've ever played.
Stays in tune well, despite the atrocity that is the fake Floyd on it.
Overall, it's a solid guitar. Just needs extra money put in to make it perfect. But what guitar doesn't these days.
