Miktek C1 Large-diaphragm Condenser Microphone Reviews

Cardioid Large-diaphragm FET Condenser Microphone with Variable Bias Voltage, Switchable Highpass Filter, and Switchable -10dB Pad

The Miktek C1 FET condenser microphone is an amazing tool for any studio engineer who isn't fortunate enough to have access to a major label budget. With its 1" MK1 capsule that houses a 5-micron Mylar diaphragm and a authentic AMI T7 transformer, the Miktek C1 is able to give you smooth and flattering sound professional microphones have lent to hit records for decades. Its forgiving FET characteristics provide a range of warmth and clarity that you can dial in simply by varying the capsule bias voltage of the Miktek C1 between 48V and 60V.

Drum overheads & singer

By Khalid Stetkevych from Bloomington, IN on May 10, 2018 Music Background: fulltime audio engineer

These sound great as rock/metal drum overheads and on a Rob Halford/ Robert Plant style singer. I haven't used it in other applications yet.

Sounds Amazing

By DJ on June 9, 2016 Music Background: Producer/Remixer

Thanks to my Sales Engineer Jeff Green and the sales floor team for helping me narrow down my choices select this amazing mic. Without going into all the technical jargon people usually add to these reviews or comparing it to other mics that cost "several times more", this can be summed up easily: Amazing. Clear and open sounding, and no noticeable self noise... A/B'd this mic with a few others that were what I thought were optimal choices, and this mic clearly spoke for itself. Very well built, and solid... make sure you have a good boom stand to hold this sturdy one up. If you're looking for a solid mic for vocals, I highly recommend this one. Only reason for the 4.5 stars is there's a tiny bit of extra sweet "sheen/sizzle" on the top end, but depending on the voice, its a great bonus. The Transformer in this mic makes this mic stand out from many others and if you can't go splurge on a mic pre to add that dimension to your chain: strongly consider this.

MikTek C1 Microphone

By Lawrence Puckett from Dallas,TX on April 17, 2015 Music Background: singersongwriter

The C1 sounds much better on my acoustic guitar and dobro but the Groove Tube GT 66 still sounds better on my voice but not a great deal of difference. No need for external power supply and worry about the obsolete subminature tube to replace at some time. It is a great mic overall!

Great Mic, Great Value

By Matt from United States on September 17, 2014 Music Background: Pro Musician, Engineer (a serious hobby)

I've owned several other mics in this price range, but I have to say, the C1 is exceptional. The top end is smooth rather than brittle. The mid range is detailed and smooth, and the low end is full without being boomy. There's even a significant amount of air on the top end for great vocal takes. This mic has worked wonderfully for me on vocals (male) and acoustic guitars with both rosewood and mahogany. In short, this is a wonderful mic.

It's ok but...

By Adam Turner from Lemoyne, PA on November 26, 2014 Music Background: Singer/Songwriter/Producer/Musician

I bought this on the advice of a salesman without testing or consulting other singers who have tracked with it. It's clean & has solid construction but has 0 personality. Very dull and lifeless. This is what gives it a 3 star. It gets the job done but so do other mic's half the price. I'll never buy another pricey mic without either tracking with it or on the advice of a professional singer not a salesman.

Pass on this mic if you care about service

By Paul Nye from Walker, MN on February 8, 2024 Music Background: Producer, engineer, studio owner. Pro player.

I purchased the C-1 in Oct. 2020. Great mic for the price. It went down about two months before the warranty expired. Contacted Miktek and set up getting it serviced. They've had the mic since Oct. 10, 2023. Today is Dec. 14, 2023. In today's world, I find a two month wait for any repair unacceptable, especially in an industry where we rely on our products and need serving ASAP. For example, I own a Henriksen "The Bud" amp. After 4 years, it went down as a result of a power surge that bypassed my protectors. Shipped it to Henriksen from MN to CO. Got the repaired amp back in 7 days. THAT is service. I base all my future purchasing decisions on the service I get from the companies I spend money with. I don't care how good any Miktek mic is at this point. I would not purchase another product from them because of what I consider very unacceptable service. They notified me on Nov. 16th that they were waiting for a part and expected to have the mic done in a week. A month later and no mic. Granted, my review is very poor compared to others, but it reflects my experience. That said, Sweetwater is an excellent example of service in this industry. I only purchased the mic from them. I've been handling the warranty directly with Miktek. I would've left the stars blank, but that wasn't an option. The C-1 will need service at some point, if you own one. Good luck with that.
