Love it
It can play the heaviest metal to the cleanest single coil lofi. The neck and fretboard are buttery, they are so smooth and feel great in the hand. I would recommend this to absolutely anyone
Schecter the goat
Absolutely stunning guitar, looks and feels amazing. Very balanced, it doesn't dive either way when sitting on your leg, and it sounds absolutely amazing
My Favorite Guitar.
It took me 30 years to switch from my gibson old school sonex for a different beast. I left the 78' neck pickup in it, but after lots of research I wanted to create a monster, so I put the most high output clear pickup in the bridge the seymour duncan Black Winter! I also buffed the whole guitar because I thought it was a shame with how beautiful the wood is.
Schecter Does It Again
This is just a beautiful guitar in every way. I'm sure wood grain isn't everyone's first choice for a guitar finish, but the ebony has a very nice grain with dramatic contrast. The Wilkinson bridge also gives it a more modern look than the traditional Strat-style unit that hasn't changed much in 60+ years. But the most striking thing about this guitar is the abalone vine inlay that runs the length of the neck. I'm not sure how they do that in a guitar at this price point. It plays as good as it looks, with a nice action and good fretwork. The pickups hit a nice balance between "vintage" sound and modern high-output.
One note for potential buyers: I ordered this with the Schecter hard case, and luckily for me they were shipped separately. When the guitar is placed in the case, the upper part of the neck sits about half an inch above the neck pocket in the case. The case will close, but it's putting pressure on the neck and would literally lift the body up. No one else mentioned this, but I would be leery of using that case with this guitar. I have two other Schecter guitars, and it didn't fit in either of those cases, either. I ended up using the Gator "Lightweight" soft case (listed as a certified fit for this guitar). If you prefer a hard case, I tried several of my other cases and it fits perfectly in the Jackson molded case for the Soloist.
C-1 Ebony Exotic
I've been wanting to get my hands on this guitar since I've laid eyes on it. The Schecter brand, in my opinion are some of the best quality guitars ever made. This guitar has everything a modern player would need to get the job done. Whatever type on music you play this guitar can achieve. The pickups that come with it are perfect. Very similar to Duncan JB's & 59's bridge and neck positions. It's hard to put the guitar down. My sales rep Mitch Dazey assisted me along the way, as always Sweetwater has a strong reputation on customer satisfaction.
For anyone considering buying a Schecter, just do it. They will not disappoint.
It's time to rock
This year, I set a personal goal (yeah.... new year's resolution stuff) that I want to play 3 songs by Christmas. I had a 12 (soon to be 13) years old guitar (a real cheap one, like $100-$200 one). As I was learning playing guitar, I wanted to give myself a strong motive not to drop. After months of research, I found that I like the feel of Schecter neck - thin C that's what they say. I actually went to a local guitar store, wandered around a few times, then learned about it - the feel of the neck. I called Sweetwater or emailed I'm not so sure now. Got a call from Isaac. He and I talked several times on the phone. I explained what I want, what my budget will be, and what kind of music I want to learn. Isaac shared his knowledge and perspectives. I landed with this beautiful Schecter C-1 Exotic. It was backordered. Since I was not in a hurry, I decided to wait. Early Nov, Isaac called me saying "Hey, it looks like you will get it by mid-Nov." Awesome! I also purchased some guitar goodies where Isaac commented and helped choosing right and good stuffs.
It's been about 3 weeks now. The guitar is a beauty. Actions are quite low. No buzzing. Sounds terrific. Just looking into the mirror, I see myself smiling.
Now I do have a good reason to learn guitar every day! Thanks Isaac. You rock!
Beautiful beast
I waited for a long time to get a schecter. This is the one! I love the pickups, but did put a duncan black winter in bridge to make it a monster. IT SCREAMS! I have always been a LP guy. But love this one just as much. I actually polished it and got a nice gloss finish since it has such beautiful wood I thought a satin was a waste. My favorite guitar is this one! Amazing value thanks to Indonesia.
Sweet Guitar
Received this guitar on Wednesday.. Played a gig on Saturday and used it the whole gig!.. This guitar has a great sound! To me, a touch brighter but not too bright. I set my volume on the single coil side and when I went to my leads, popped it in humbucker mode. Never tried that before on guitars with coil splitters... Worked really good! Kind of like a boost! I've had Schecter's before.. Very nice guitars for the price!
Fantastic instrument
This guitar is amazing! Beautiful finish, everything is very well done. It was set up perfectly right out of the box. Did a show with it on Saturday just as it was shipped - no setup, no adjustments (other than to put locking strap buttons on it) and it performed spectacularly! Did I mention that it has stunning good looks???? Sounds great, easy to play! Highly recommended.
Even better than it looks
Wow! This guitar is an example of why you stay brand loyal and business loyal, Schecter and Sweetwater. Ive bought two new Schecter's, an amazing hellraiser extreme and this ebony vine of life, through Sweetwater over the last 6 years and both the products and the service just blow my mind. This guitar checks so many boxes, with it's ability to get all the tones, that it is like the multitool for the axeman. And it is stunning to behold in real life, the photos do not do it justice. The vine of life abalone inlay is so intricate and multicolored that it is like playing a living piece of sorcery. The attention to detail in the customer service that Sweetwater gives is exceedingly rare in our time; you can see the guitar that you are buying before it arrives; they will put you in touch with someone that has actually seen the guitar if you request. The price is hard to believe now that I own it. I am a very experienced guitarist, this may be the best instrument that I have ever held much less owned. If you are looking for a new guitar buy a Schecter from Sweetwater.
Finally got one!
Had been stalking this one for a long two years and was always sad to find not in stock until a couple weeks ago, there were 4 to choose from so I quickly picked the ser# of my preference and ordered @ Sweetwater. 2 days later in guitar heaven and loving it. So many good things to say about it except the finish. Advertised as satin but at least my example was flat beyond belief. Anyway I made sure I was satisfied with the instrument and then dismantled and made it what I like. My 2nd Scheter and very happy!
I waited 15 years for a C-1
I waited 15 years to finally get a c-1. I wanted the original c1 Classic as a kid but was bummed when they discontinued the original. When this came up for in January I had to have it. It's so crisp and even more gorgeous in person. I've had ppl offer to buy it once seeing it. I'll never sell her, you won't be disappointed. If you're more into metal then you'll need a good pedal for that as these pickups are more comparable to a strat sound, in my opinion.
Gorgeous and smooth as silk...
Waited 4 months for this beauty, was worth every day. The ebony fingerboard makes this axe fly. The neck was also plek'd (computer process that scans, levels, and dresses the frets to microscopic accuracy). The notes just beg to be bent and scream out of its classic humbuckers. Have only had Fender and Ibanez, this is my first Schecter and I'm very impressed. It's a definite shredder, but also great for R&B and jazz/rock covers. My thanks to Mason for working with me to get this into my hands.
Great Guitar
I bought this guitar a few months ago. I own Gibson’s and Taylor’s, but always find myself playing a Schecter. They’re always set up great from the factory and never had any issues with them. I had a C1 Classisms and loved that guitar and pickups. This guitars pickups are surprisingly good. I love the finish. It’s attractive but not in your face which I like. It’s plays and feels awesome. I did put a trem stop on the bridge but stays in tune well with the locking tuners.
Off the charts playability!!
Back of the neck had two trapped dust motes, but I can level them with my sawz-all.
If you think it's easy on the eyes, it's even easier to play. I could never nail that Guthrie Govan/Berndt tapping stuff. First time I tried with the C-1 Exotic, I went up and down the neck like I'd been doing it for years. Mind blown....
Get one, pimp it out so you can pass it down to your Grandkids.
One Issue
Just received guitar yesterday and thank you Skyler for that as far as the guitar it is beautiful sounds great playability is right up the with the more expensive guitars, I have Ibanez prestige and il even say my PRS core custom 24. My only issue and this is why I gave it only 4 stars and this is probably because of the way I play I keep turning the volume knob down its to close to the pickup. This affects me might not you but in all a awsome guitar.
Schecter flies too far under the radar
If you have owned higher quality Schecter gear you probably already know they have a number of models that stand up to brands with notoriety. I'm far from a virtuoso or shredder, but I have owned enough guitars to have a pretty good sense of quality. The C1 Exotic checks all the boxes for someone wanting an axe that looks great, can be applied to a variety of genres, has quality parts and assembly, and plays comfortably. Fit and finish is excellent. Fret work is comfortable and consistent. The satin finish just feels good in the hands. Locking tuners are dependable. Wilkinson bridge is stable and comfortable. The guitar is a tad heavy but is balanced and plays well when standing or sitting. IMHO, pickups are very much a matter of taste and preference. The PUPS on this beauty are clear and articulate, with a pleasant mid range emphasis that lets notes sing, but they also give a fullness that fits a rhythm, or blues player plenty of expression and easy low end without getting flubby. Push them into high gain and they stay clean and full; play them clean and they are warm and pleasing. Flip over to single coils, it doesn't quite reach a Tele sound but still quacky on the bridge and throaty on the neck. Controls are simple so if you require more on-board control, this may leave you wanting. But for a straightforward comfortable guitar that is made with good materials, is dependable, can play lots of styles, looks beautiful, and is under $1K, don't swipe past this guitar! Up the hammers!
