Love at first note

By Michal Henderson from Iowa on December 12, 2021

I am an amature learning classical. Given the years I've spent playing a steel string guitar, I was interesting in the crossover for the smaller neck side. After getting the guitar and tuning it up I played Tárrega's Lágrima and was wowed by the tone quality. Looking forward to the coming adventures as I learn more and enjoy the guitar.

An awesome piece of music instrument. Sound great, beautiful built.

Cordoba C10 Crossover European spruce top.

By Marianne Lerbs from St Augustine, FL on May 18, 2021 Music Background: Musician

This is a very nice instrument for the money. My guitar came with excellent intonation up and down the neck. The action was a little high for my taste. I play bossa nova, jazz and latin tunes and I lean towards as low action as it can be, so I had it set up professionally for my playing style. It didn't loose its intonation, now it plays like butter and It also kept its nice volume. I am very happy with my purchase. The width of the neck is perfect for me. I play rather complex chords so it was a great choice to get the crossover, no pain!

Beautifully crafted guitar

The quality and sound surpassed my expectations... can't put it down!!

Very impressed

By Sweetwater Customer on November 11, 2020

As a 50 year + steel string player the slightly narrower neck is what first drew me to explore a crossover classical guitar.
After much research I chose the Cordoba C-10 Crossover.
Build is flawless and it's light as a feather. Notes just pop out of it!I'm not a classical player but love the softer tone and feel. Looking forward to getting to know it and exploring new tones and textures. As usual my Rep at Sweetwater, Patrick was awesome to deal with

Very happy

By Matt from Vermont on February 13, 2020 Music Background: I’ve played guitar and mandolin for a long time.

I've had mine now for about six weeks. And I've been playing the heck out of it. I've played steel string for many years, and wanted to add a different sound and broaden my repertoire without sinking a load into a real high end instrument. This looked a good choice, especially with all solid woods and being part of the luthier series. Like other reviewers I was a bit concerned about a "made in China" guitar, but this is really a beautifully crafted instrument. It is beautiful to look at in every respect. The sound is great: the low end can really boom and on the treble side it's easy to vary tone from bright to sort of somber with hand position. I like the crossover neck a lot. The only thing that is worth pointing out is that I found it physically difficult to get a good attack for the first couple of weeks, which I figured was all a part of learning to play challenging tunes on a nylon string instrument. But I looked up information on string height at the Cordoba website, and compared what they listed as the ideal ranges and compared it to mine and discovered that mine came set up way too high. So I lowered the saddle some so that the string heights are within their recommended heights, and the difference in playability is very welcome. Sounds better too. So yeah, I like this instrument very much. The price for such a well crafted instrument is hard to argue with, and it sounds and plays great. I would definitely recommend this guitar.

new guitar

What a nice guitar. Love the crossover approach, and love the overall sound of the guitar. Going back and forth between my Martin's and this Cordoba C10 really help me stay on top of my playing techniques.

Really love this new guitar. Helps me play better.

I Can't Stop Playing It

By Jason from Mississippi on March 6, 2019 Music Background: Close to 20 yrs playing guitar

I'm sitting at work right now, and I can't even concentrate. I want to be playing this guitar. Seriously. It's beautiful, and it plays like a dream. It does seem to need a little bit of a setup (intonation up the fret board is a bit wonky), but that's normal with a brand new guitar. We'll see how it plays in a couple of weeks after it's had time to get completely comfortable with its new surroundings. The guitar has a beautiful, clear sound. Highly recommend!

Amazing guitar

First guitar I"ve ever bought new and was well worth it. Very fun and easy to play. Sweetwater guys were awesome as always!

Really Nice!

By Dave from Iowa on October 3, 2016 Music Background: 30 years guitarist

I've been playing guitar for 30 years and classical guitar for about 10 years. I was looking at other custom built classical guitars w a spruce tops by private luthiers but they ranged from 3k to 7k. Very expensive. I was going to go with the standard 2" nut width but saw this crossover and was intrigued. A thinner neck with a radused fretboard. Because Sweetwater is amazing about customer satisfaction I ordered the Córdoba C-10 Crossover. It's an amazing guitar. I was skeptical about it being made in China but a good luthier is a good luthier no matter what country you're from. The tone woods are amazing on this instrument. The rosewood sides and back, and the spruce top, create a really well balanced bright and clear tone. Intonation is spot on perfect. It's. not as loud as my cedar tops but it's much brighter which is what I was looking for. The neck is extremely comfortable. I saved myself a lot of money and got a great classical crossover guitar. I've owned and played this instrument for over a year now. A dream to play and would strongly recommend it to other players.

Great Value, Great Guitar

By Brian from Simi Valley, CA on September 30, 2015 Music Background: Former Professional, Current Classical Student

I've had this guitar for a week or so. I am new to classical guitar, but have played steel string electric and acoustic for 50 years now. (Time flies... but that's another story.)

I was looking for an relatively inexpensive, solid wood classical guitar of good quality. I was a bit skeptical of this guitar, since it is made in China. But I know Sweetwater had a great return policy, so I took the "plunge".

As a former steel string player, I was also attracted to the crossover model, since it had a bit narrower and radius neck.

Upon receipt of this guitar, I could not be happier!!! At this price point, the sound and build quality is far beyond my expectation.

Very, very highly recommended!

well made

The Cordoba C10 Crossover guitar

By B from Southwest USA from Southwest USA on June 16, 2021 Music Background: 35 years of on and off playing in multiple styles

I've had this Cordoba C10 Crossover for a year and four months, so here's a review: 1) The Sweetwater Service: Jacob T and the Sweetwater luthier who installed the pickup: fantastic! I had Sweetwater install an LR Baggs Lyric Classical pick-up; they did great work on the install, and the pickup itself sound great on this guitar, especially after running it through an LR Baggs Session DI, to an acoustic amp. 2) The Sound of this Cordoba C10 Crossover: This guitar sounds fantastic, and seems to be sounding better as it ages. Great bass, yet also great balance with trebles that come through nicely. The bass and warmth of this guitar sound SO good. Projection is also very impressive for such a small-bodied guitar. 3) The Looks: Neck, headstock and tuners look amazing. Back and sides are wow - so beautiful. The topic is good, yet as it ages, in a certain light one can see that half of the top is aging darker than the other half. It's not a big concern, but in certain light, it's noticeable where the two halves of the top meet. 4) The Playability: Very good. Neck feel: excellent. Note: The 1.875 inch neck width has many pros and one con: It allows me to play chords in tough classical pieces that I otherwise might not be able to make work. Keep in mind, though, that any open-plucked non-fretted string on a classical guitar will oscillate up and down more than a steel string. So (on left hand) there are times when an adjoining open-plucked string will touch a left fingernail that's playing a note. This lessens as playing skill increases; however, a wider neck (more traditional classical width) might minimize this. NOTE: Sweetwater sells this same guitar with a 2.04 inch neck, which you may want to seriously consider. 5) Case: As an at-home or in-town to-go case, it's great. However, this guitar is nice enough that I upgraded to a hard case, to keep it safe, and also to keep it humidified at proper level. 6) Overall review: very happy with this guitar. It has opened up a world of fun and beautiful classical music that does not work on my steel-string.

Cordoba C10 Crossover Review

By B-dawg from SouthWest US on April 15, 2019 Music Background: experienced guitar player

First, the SERVICE: Sweetwater is an amazing company, and Jacob T (my sales agent) rocked it. This was my first experience buying a guitar online and they are excellent. Guitar was double-boxed. No damage. Now, for the guitar itself. LOOKS: It arrived looking as good (if not better) than the photos. SOUND: Amazing bass, warmth and projection, right out of the box. A very nice sounding guitar. Hoping that, with time (and different strings), the treble will become more pronounced. PLAYABILITY: Excellent. The curved fret-board really is nice, as is the narrower neck. Note: the strings on a nylon classical guitar tend to vibrate (oscillate) more than a steel string guitar, sometimes to the point where (even near the nut) the strings will buzz near an adjoining fretted finger. The more accurate one is, the less this happens; however, it's something to consider if you're on the fence about such a narrow neck. Finally, the ELECTRONIC PICK UP: This guitar does not come with a pick-up, so I also purchased it with an L.R. Baggs Lyric Classical Pickup, and had Sweetwater install it before shipping. They did a great job on the install, and -- wow -- the pick-up sounds SO good (especially on my Marshall acoustic amp). Overall, a great buying experience, and a great guitar.

Lovely guitar with a few nuances to keep in mind

By Anton Bereza from Zhytomyr, UA on October 19, 2022

Great guitar, beautifully made. The quality is very good, the guitar feels and sounds nice. There are, however, a couple of "issues" that you need to keep in mind if you're considering this model.

1). Neck width. Since this is a "crossover" model, I assumed that the neck would be considerably thinner than a neck of a regular classical guitar. The neck is indeed slightly sinner than the classical guitar, however it's still much bigger and wider than a steel string guitar. So unless you have really huge hands you will not be able to apply steel string style of playing to this guitar. So forget about using your thumb for fretting 6th string. To be honest, I'm not sure whether there's a reason for "crossover" model existence as opposed to regular cordoba model in this regard. Both models will require "classical" style of playing.

2). String action. This was my first attempt at a nylon string guitar, so maybe this is expected. But the string action was huge, almost 5mm for some strings which seemed unplayable to me. After adjusting the hight I was able to comfortably play it. So keep in mind that you might need to visit a luthier, or do it yourself if you know how.

Due to the above I'm deducting one star from the review. Again: great guitar, just nor for everybody.

Just one small problem........

By Kurt from TX on September 13, 2020

I bought this guitar without thinking about where it is manufactured.....my bad. The guitar plays great and sounds excellent. My problem is that I cannot support the communist government of China - which is where this guitar is made. Sorry, with everything that is happening in the world today, musicians absolutely need to stand for what is right and boycott what is wrong. China is the enemy of the free world and number one ally of Iran, period. If you don't think so, you're not paying attention to the world. So just continue to play your Chinese guitar without a clue and without a social conscience. My opinion only, my two cents, my social conscience. By American, Mexican, Canadian, German, Spanish, English, Australian or whatever guitar you like but please BOYCOTT CHINA.

Nice

Tone is remarkable

Broken Zipper of Case

By Raul Zamudio from New York City, NY on July 12, 2023

This case nor the guitar in it, has ever left my house, not even my living room where I practice/play; and nothing more extensive use than normal zipping and unzipping of case. There is no way this guitar can leave my house in this case for fear of it completely falling apart and damaging guitar. This is my first purchase from Sweetwater, and will definitely be my last unless compensated in some fashion. Let's say it's a fluke and nothing more, then make it right and compensate.
