PageFlip Butterfly Bluetooth Page-turning Pedal Reviews
If your device is equipped for Bluetooth and your app responds to common key commands, then you can control it with the compact PageFlip Butterfly wireless foot controller. It's the perfect way to navigate sheet music, chord charts, or lyric sheets, all without taking your hands off your instrument. Its impressive efficiency provides you with 200 hours (approximately 200,000 page turns) of continuous use on just two AA batteries. In other words, it's unlikely your batteries will die mid-set. At the same time, the Butterfly borrows the totally silent pedal mechanism from its big brother, the Firefly, so it's as discreet as it gets.

Easy to use, perfect critical addition to a tablet music solution!
I've been using this pedal with a cheap 14.1" Android tablet and Mobile Sheets Pro for almost four years now. I have used it for rehearsals and outdoor gigs, some in the rain, cold and heat with no issues. It's easy to find with my foot when I can't look down. The design is more ergonomic to the foot than square designs, reducing inadvertent page reversals. The battery life is OUTSTANDING. Uses very little power. Seriously, I've left it on for 2 to 4 hours at a time with 1-3 rehearsals every week, forgot to turn it off in my gig bag several times, and I only recently changed the AA batteries for the first time - so that's well over three years of use. The little battery cover is not exactly "heavy duty", so I just put a piece of gaffer's tape over the leading edge of it just to make sure it stays secure and doesn't get broken or lost. This Android/Mobile Sheets solution is WAY CHEAPER THAN APPLE-anything, so if you've been thinking about going to a tablet but didn't want to pay through the nose or just hate Apple's evil proprietary practices in general, this is the way to go!
Freedom from page turns
This handy little device allows me to play without interruption any piece I select. It's almost magical and many people ask me how I am able to play so seamlessly. I use rechargeable batteries in this but rarely need to change them. It's very efficient. Great tool for every musician with the exception of those who use their feet (dance drum set, organ come to mind).
GREAT Pedal
This is a great pedal. Does exactly what you want it to, when you want it to. Its action is light and solid. And it has several ways it can be used. A good buy for sure.
Works as advertised!
This is exactly what I needed to quickly and accurately turn the page, ESPECIALLY when we are playing a really fast song!
Transforming freedom
I love this hands-free pedal so much I bought one for our entire band. This one is a replacement of the "cicada" that is no longer available. My cicada "lost a wing" and is difficult to connect via Bluetooth. This little gem has a little more heft to it and should stand up to my toes a lot better. Also, its connection is super simple. I can't say enough good things about the PageFlip products.
Simple And It Works
I wanted a pedal that would do page-up and page-down through a Bluetooth connection to my iPad that I use for song lyrics/chords. So, first I tried an Airturn Duo 200 pedal…it has too many functions that made setup too complicated for me to understand…and I never could find how to do the two simple commands that I needed. So, I returned that one and got a PageFlip Butterfly…ahh, bliss…and simplicity. Easy to setup, easy to synch, and it works.
I’m pleased
I'm still getting used to my butterfly. It connected to my iPad quickly, and away I went. It works as described and I'm very pleased! Thanks Bart, and all the Sweetwater team!
Good as Gold
I have owned a PageFlip Cicada for several years. It has given me good service but nothing lasts forever. One of my pet peeves with the Cicada was that it was so lightweight it moved out of position with the slightest accidental nudge of my foot. Just gigged with my new Butterfly last Thursday and it was a joy to use! It connected easily with my older iPad 2 and requires less foot pressure to activate than my old Cicada.. Best of all, being heavier, it stays put!
It is only slightly larger than the Cicada so if you wanted it on your pedal board it would easily fit I use Gigbook and OnSong and it worked great with both. My Cicada lasted about five years and I'm thinking this Butterfly should last at least the same. Great pedal for the price!
Page Flip Butterfly
Don't know how I managed without it. The Pageflip is easy to use. I have already recommended it to a friend.
PageFlip Butterfly
My wife and I both use iPads to hold our music collections. I bought the PageFlip Butterfly for my wife to replace an iRig Blue Turn. The Butterfly has a nice tactile feel and is less susceptible to turning multiple pages than the Blue Turn. The Butterfly's pads sit close to the floor and are easy to locate without having to look down at the unit. The Butterfly works great so far and we haven't encountered any significant drawbacks.
works great
It is quiet and accurate. My previous page turner sometimes double-clicked. You can imagine what this does to you in a performance. This one just does what it is supposed to do.
outstanding pedal
We have tried 3 different page turner pedals. This is by far the favorite. Please note however that it is larger than some of the others (that's a benefit for our pianist and worship leader). Have already purchased another.
PageFlip Butterfly Outflips Competitors
I tried a different unit that was clumsy compared to the PageFlip Butterfly. Design is perfect for easily tapping with foot to page forward and back because it slopes towards the bottom corners. Pairing is quick. I needed something simple and dependable and this is it. I use it with iGig Book. Page flip is instant. Unit is durable and has a thin high density rubber/foam cushion on the underside that keeps it from sliding on a hard floor surface.
I love the PageFlip Butterfly Page-turning Pedal
The PageFlip Butterfly Page-turning Pedal is exactly what I needed! It's instantly responsive (no two beat delay before turning the page) and it's tremendously easy to connect via Bluetooth - the two things I disliked about a previous model I tried from another brand. Since it uses batteries and doesn't have an internal battery to charge, I can't see the battery strength on my iPad. But, that lack of information is a small price to pay for its speed and reliability. I am extremely happy with this pedal!!
PageFlip Butterfly is Great!
I am extremely happy with PageFlip Butterfly. I chose it for its size and durability. It worked perfectly right out of the box. I have it paired with my 12" iPad and use ForScore via the bluetooth and it paired quickly. I like the 30 minute sleep feature to save on batteries. One tap of the foot and it comes right back. I'm a church musician and use it at the piano and the organ (with an assist from a home-made platform that sits over the organ pedals. It has a good rubber grip on the bottom and there is no sliding of the unit. And the price was right, too!
Pageflip butterfly
So far ....good. I only had it for few days. Soft tap and page will change quick. Connect real fast to the ipad 12.9. I'm trying to get used to it but is a good piece to have if you want to keep both hands on the keyboard.
PageFlip Butterfly
Moved up from the Cicada PageFlip to this one, and it's great. It's heavier and doesn't turn more than one page at a time, which was a frequent occurrence for me with the Cicada!
Excellent device
This is an outstanding product. It has the right heft (but still light enough to transport easily), and the pedal clicks are "clean." Bluetooth stays connected long-term without problems. I had a prior version, the Pageflip Cicada. It was good, but I found the pedal travel too large, and I would sometimes misfire and turn two pages accidentally. The Pageflip Butterfly is a good improvement. I will say that it seems to me that any pedal will have a bit of a learning curve. I am using the pedal with forScore. I had a minor tech support issue, and the response was exemplary.
awesome
works just as i expected. the pedal is very sensitive. I actually take my shoe off so that i have better control over turns. But, that is preferable over having to make unnatural pressure motions that distract from the performance
Excellent Navigation Tool!
Using the PageFlip Butterfly with my Power Music Software. It works perfectly in whichever mode I choose to use. Saves so much manual page turning. It has also allowed me to use my laptop for my music needs rather than have to carry books of printed material to practice and performances.
Page Flip Butterfly
I love the Butterfly. I was using the Cricket and it was okay but kind of flimsy. I hesitated to get the butterfly because of that. I read a few reviews and they said that the butterfly was very sturdy. I took a chance and got it. I am very happy I did. It is solid, very responsive and so far, I haven't had to change batteries and I use it all the time. The cricket used to suck up batteries like crazy. this one is great. I highly recommend the Butterfly.
Pageflip Butterfly
Works as expected. I
Very nice
This is my 4th blue tooth page turner, and my favorite. I had a Firefly which died after many years of faithful service. A Cicada which is still running (years) at my biweekly gig with gear that resides there, and an appreciable upgrade from the Firefly, I thought. I tried the little (and incredibly cute) AirTurn, which was acceptable but was a little to small & and slideable. And I decided I do like some detectable movement under my foot so I know I've engaged. The Butterfly, a few weeks in, is the best yet. Stays put better. Works consistently whether I'm in boots or tennis shoes or sox (or barefoot, of which the AirTurn was not a fan). Nice job, PageFlip.
Excellent device
This page turner works great with forScore. It is better than the predecessor, the Pageflip Cicada. I compared it with the Airturn Duo, which is also a good device (and has the advantage of being thinner and more compact). For me, however, the PageFlip works better because the Airturn requires a firmer press with the foot to turn the page. Sometimes with the Airturn I would press but nothing happened because I didn't press hard enough. I have had my new Butterfly for only a few days, but I am very happy with it. I will also mention that Sweetwater has been great to work with.
I am SOLD!!
This device is easy to setup and configure....and it works like a dream! No more stopping to turn pages while playing...I could not ask for more!
does what i need it to do, and does it well.
I have used the Donner blu tooth foot mouse petal previously, but after 4 years it gave up the ghost. so i replaced it with Pageflip butterfly. it does exactly what i need it to do, with little or no lag in operation between the pedal and my tablet (ipad). while the old Donner pedal was great, it had a tendency to switch modes of operation if I bumped something accidently on the control interface (easy to do in low light situations). with the interface on the pageflip unit, that accidental mode switch is greatly reduced. the mode buttons are well out of the way of the left and right pedals. the housing of the Pagefly is sturdy and feels that is will be able to take substantial repetitive stomping over time. Setup was quick and easy with ipad or android tablets. i had no issues with it working with planning center/music stand.
the drawbacks: the grip pad on the bottom surface of the Pageflip doesn't grip as well on carpeted surfaces as it does on non-carpeted floors. the unit shifting while making a foot press isn't bad, but it does happen more on carpet.
while the Pagefip boast a battery life of 200 or so hours, the unit will go dead with little or no warning when it reaches that time. so my recommendation is to change batteries at about 100 hours of use to prevent this from happening during the middle of a set.
For ease and simplicity of operation, i recommend this product.
I would highly re
Hands free is always better!
This works great for how I use it, it was easy to set up and works every time.
Works great
Just moved to using forScore on an iPad Pro for my music. The PageFlip Butterfly paired easily with the iPad, and works great. I like the sloped pedals. The bottom grips the smooth floor where I rehearse. The amount of pressure required to trigger an event seems good. I just need to practice using it more so I don't have to hunt for it as much.
Works great.
I use this with the onsong app which works great. I Tried it for band practice the other night also-with all my other pedals and worked flawlessly. I keep it straight under the mic stand so it"s easy to locate, just a slight tap and on with the program no more paper pages to flip. The little red led indicates whether it"s on or not.
Pageflip
The PageFlip works well and blue tooth synced right up. It will take a little getting used to but seems to flip pages fine up and down and to the right as well. LED light lets you know it is still on. Silent page flips.
Solid and Dependable
If you need a dependable page turner this is a good bet. Its a larger profile so you won't be searching for it while negotiating your sustain and expression pedals. I also place it on top of a controller like an Akai MPK88 and flip pages with my hand. Seems to be built well and after a month of use is holding up well.
Blue Tooth page turner
Paired quickly with my tablet and works great with my Music Reader program.
Does the job
I bought this specifically to tun pages in OnSong on my iPad. It does that very well. It may do other stuff too... don't know and don't care.
Construction is fairly lightweight plastic. It feels a bit flimsy but as long as I'm not stomping on it with Doc Martins it should last.
